[VIDEO] 220 Mana/sec With Three Flasks
http://youtu.be/A69fUp0n1iA
(sorry for the bad quality) I demonstrate that is possible to comfortably sustain an over 200 mana per second attack in chaos with only three flasks while using Voll's Armour (-50% max mana) and without using any mana leech or mana on kill stats. This is also to demonstrate that going out of your way for mana passives and mods is a bad idea. 453 max mana 21.7 mana per second regeneration Ice Spear: 2.08 casts per second * 106 mana per cast = 220 mana per second Unavailable Flasks used: Unavailable Unavailable Unavailable My build (If it looks bad in some places, that's because it is. I've been switching my build around and don't have enough regrets to fix it to my complete satisfaction.) Last edited by Strill on Feb 14, 2012, 11:22:04 PM

Impressive. Credibility when discussing mana issues? You has it.

I think the more relevant balance question involves the damage output of anything boosted by multi-projectile. More shots required to kill mobs = reduced flask charge availability.
I have a wand witch that does more or less the same thing w/ 4 surgeon's flasks. I find it easier to just drink two at a time to make up for not having the catalyzed/bubbling effect. I'm assuming most of your gear is pretty high-end, since you only have ~+140% cold damage and ~+110% crit chance/mult from your passives. |

"I don't think using two flasks at the same time increases your regen at all. It just uses the regen rate of the fastest flask. Here's my gear. Most of it is pretty bad due to a combination of having just switched to chaos inoculation, or having gotten the item a long time ago and not found anything better. Hence the life bonuses in a Chaos Inoculation build. I'd say it's probably the curses doing the most work. you dont wana see what it does with good gear. it looks like your video but you dont have to kite even in 6 mans.
there's a few choices you made for playstyle preferences i guess. you can min/max it a good bit more and it becomes even easier / better. and if you take that faster cast gem out and use added chaos instead, again ... much easier. i run 58% crit (not counting spear's bonus for range) and 1,000% multiplier, with 175% quant and 250% rarity. thats with pretty decent gear. there are others with very high dps, but i focus mainly on magic find mods when able. "The shield is there because block is so powerful. Other than that you're right, my passives and gear could be much better. | |
" Read somewhere that the bonus is 600%, so anything above 53% is maxed crit if that's true. How's your damage per projectile w/o the crit bonus? The base damage on ice spear doesn't seem very impressive w/o the crit component, so I guess the point is to hit everything from far enough away for the crits. |
|
i dont understand what you're asking. ice spear gains crit % for distance. i cant remember the exact number, somewhere around 9% or something.
crit multiplier is a secondary mod that multiplies the base damage for crits. ice spear doesnt have anything built in for multiplier, it comes from gear/passives. my spear hits for 1400ish dmg. 58% (+spears bonus for distance) of the time it crits for 10x damage or 14k. and yea, thats per spear x5 + cc's mobs. p.s. i didnt mean anything offensive by those remarks strill. was just helping to further make the point. " What i was asking. Also, i found the relevant quote from mark: " So it's both dated (from .9.3) and has some calculation errors and/or typos :(. Too lazy to check the patch notes since then for any changes. The assumption was that +600% base crit of 7% would be +42%, so anything above 53% crit on your char screen would be maxed for hitting distant targets. Maybe you can just check this in-game. See if your "phase 2" ice spears crit nearly 100% of the time. |

"I heard that it was +600% crit chance, which amounts to +42% crit chance. "I know. I welcome any suggestions. |
