Hacked Accounts

The bodycount kept rising. Oh well, as long as Kripp isn't hacked, everything is safe, right? It's the users fault that get hacked because they use third party stuffs.

And even if Kripp got hacked, let's just assume that someone hates him enough and hacked him. Then, put a nameless support guy in the middle of the story, restores his lost inventory/items, and claim it was all whole "support mistake."

Like I said, everything is safe.

grow up you embarass yourself with your hate about a videogame and make up fairytales i have round 50 close beta friends in my list none of them has been hacked it was a small % of the whole playerbase who uses

a) 3rd party sites rmt hack ect
b) same password on othee sites
c) general not smart ppl
d) compromised sites like poe helper xyz wiki statistics ect

and if you did one of the things above and still blame GGG then you have a bigger problem in your life then you care to admit and thats scary as hell

mypoedupe.exe and maphackpoe.exe work still fine found them with the first google seacrh i know those sites are phishing sites and trojaner and stuff but there are ppl out there who think damm i can make unlimmited exalted i will be as big as kripp or nugiyen that will show them or i can sell it for rl $ and never have to work again

its just natural selection

This is viable if the security system of PoE itself was secure. But with this current state, even if you make a password that contains special characters and stuffs, you still get compromised.

Real problem lies within PoE's security system, not the users themselves, as I've pointed out many times before.

As much as I'd love to reply, sadly I can't really understand Engrish.

What tells you that it isn't secure?
Just because there is no foolproof mechanism?
But as i already said people tend to blame others than to just admit it was their fault.

Ah, what?
sry but ... no way!

this only happens if you reuse your login info somewhere else, install a 3rd party addon (maphack maybe), use your e-mail (the one to login) on a gold selling site where you want to buy something or have a compromised PC.

there is no way someone could guess my e-mail and password as long as he isn't on(in) my computer.

Facts tend to state it otherwise. Let me broke this down to you, this hacking phase as GGG seems to avoid publishing any info regarding the hacking:

-It uses the security exploits PoE has right now, like the brute-force and countless other the hackers might now.
-It only targets users that got their character in the ladder.

Notice that the hacker cherry-picks their target to avoid alerts from the GGG themselves, that's why they're avoiding targets like Kripps. But recently, a famous streamer also get hacked, maybe to create unrest within PoE community since GGG tries to control the crowds by telling them the wrong statement "no breach of security on GGG side whatsoever". But, supposedly, GGG also tries to contain this one by covering it up as "customer service disaster", and tries to gain back their credibility by restoring the said streamer's account. Of course, this only further suspicion from many users, including myself.

Don't get the wrong idea that I'm only using this opportunity to bashes GGG. In fact, I was only doing this so that GGG get off their high horse of false sense of security and start addressing the hacked users like they were properly meant to. Yes, that includes account restoration.

And no, I didn't get hacked, fortunately.
I've seen this story before, in D3.

Mass hacked account, people bitching in the forums saying that "I have the most secure PC on the planet!!! I can't get hacked!!! it's your fault!!!", Blizzard/GGG saying that their servers was not breached etc.

I was one of the hacked back then, and I was also in the "can't get hacked" bandwagon. But I actually used the same password with every account I have.

So I learned the lesson. Started using KeePass and changed all my accounts password. So far so good.

Of course their server wasn't, it's just the PoE login screen was full of opening that the hackers could use. Who knows what else exploits these hacker have besides the brute-force one.

Just a thought, but what if you guys implemented a trade pw that you urged people to change often? That might help out a lot.

Every retard would just use "cat" as the password and then blame GGG.. again.

That's why people should just completely randomize their pw's and just change them every few months. Not too hard to write one down. It's like not changing your PIN at least semi frequently. You're basically saying "plz make bad things happen to me." I'd still just go with the second pw anyway though, and then up the keylogger defense.

Edit: also, note to self: change password from "catpassword 12345"
I've seen them... and they've seen me.

So what? People keep talking about that like it's some great revelation.

Probably 95% of hacks could be prevented by:

1) Not reusing your password ANYWHERE else - prevents a majority of stolen accounts
2) Using a strong password - prevents brute force
2) Don't download maphacks/bots - prevents most trojans/keyloggers

We already know where most hacks come from. It's very very very rare that a games entire account-name/password database gets compromised.
