Hacked Accounts

This feels like D3 Dejavu, lol.

Needless to say I will be anxiously awaiting the release of an authenticator :D

At least these PWs are case sensitive.

not unique password(your password is in a hacker-database) / douchebag friends / pc infected.
i can't believe you don't even care for the reason.
i'm not even surprised it's a PEBKAC.

d3 got exaclty the same "hack-wave" after release.
it's just bots trying through stolen acc/pw-lists from easy to hack community-sites.

Maybe if you were less arrogant and better at reading, you would realize that I obviously do care what the reason is, which is probably why I've scanned my pc both time it has happened with no results.

No matter what though, screwing over your legitimate customers by basically siding with the hackers doesn't exactly build consumer goodwill.

Lost all my currency, maps and quality gems today due to getting hacked. When I realized that, I got slightly annoyed that I'd now have to contact support to get my stuff back, but no big deal right? It has happened to be a few times before on other games, and there has never been any problems getting my stuff back.

Imagine my surprise then, when I get a response back from support telling me essentially to go fuck myself in a polite a way as possible. This bizarre policy of assuming that everyone who has gotten hacked is somehow cheating, and refusing to help people who has been the victim of a theft is pretty self destructive.
I know that I personally, and probably a lot of other people who has been hacked will be a lot more cautious about spending money on this game in the future. Way to scare off your paying customers.

this is a very good example for what i wrote.

There are sites with suggestions for keeping pw safe/unique etc... Also it's a smart idea to create a second, or more, email account specific for filling out online information. Whenever I'm on a site that requires an email address, I have a few setup depending on the website. It's not surprise that my "interwebs" email account gets a TON of spam and phishing emails, exploit driven email, etc... I am even getting emails from GGG now stating my account is under review and I need to log into their site to clean my account. This email is completely different from the one I use for gaming - which never gets emails aside from the developers of the game (Blizzard, EA, GGG, etc...)

Keeping what you put out there unique and different is the key. Unless you get a virus, rootkit, or keylogger installed, the chances of your account being compromised is very very small.

These are things most people don't do, or even are aware they should. I make a living cleaning up these kinds of issues (Though I'm hardly claiming to be an expert) and I don't blame the end user. The internet is still growing and evolving and most people are trusting and don't think about prevention.

Anti-virus, Malware protection etc... only go so far. If the site you visit gets compromised? All the protection you have on your PC won't save your data.

It's just a matter of education. Though, in this case, it's a costly one for many. I'd suspect their is something common among the majority of the victims. Whether it's a website, utility, or who knows what?

PoE has gotten a ton of attention for making a great game. Probably more than even they expected. Where the gamers are, there will be those who hack and cheat and rob and steal etc... It's big business; selling currency. I don't have chat turned on, but I wonder if gold sellers have started hitting up online chat yet.

I agree, I think most would like to know. Even those who haven't been compromised would like to know, so we can know what to look for, avoid, etc...

That said, I'm not sure what GGG can do if it isn't their fault - which I doubt it is. It would be a HUGE FUBAR on their part to adamantly state it's not them only to have to back-peddle. So I'm assuming they've done their homework. Maybe I shouldn't.

So what really do you think they should do (thinking big picture)?
welp gg me, i got no idea how, but i got hacked and now i can't do anything in the game, the hacker took all of my vauable gems and items equating to over 20 exalts worth, now im a lvl 73 that can only cast bear trap and decoy totem.... to be honest, i don't even know what to do right now :(. And after reading this, knowing that none of my items will be restored, i feel kinda depressed to the point where i feel like quitting ( at least for a month or two-its a shame too, was looking forward towards races).

oh well, gl everyone, and damn i guess i was just unlucky :(
The developers have TOO much pride in their standards. Are you guys seriously choosing virtual pixels over potential $$$ ? LOL

What do you have to lose by restoring the pixels of these crybabies who got their account compromised? Now think about what you LOSE by not doing so.

people leaving = less income coming in = their friends start feeling lonely = they quit too = loss of future money = loss of future referrals of new people

You guys can't sustain yourself if you don't cater to the mass of 12 year olds
Got "hacked"? Blame yourself. Learn to use computer and secure yourself. Anyone can learn to drive a car.. anyone can learn to use computer and secure oneself.
It's time to lock this thread.

Thx GGG for the update and looking forward to the changes.
Thx community for your input.

Just waiting for the mob to accuse GGG for purposely hacking the account so they can get more money out of sold cop...oh wait.

Honestly, these days I'm often ashamed to call myself a gamer.
„I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“
No mod action. Business as usual.
$10 says if Kripps account was hit, it would be restored in a heartbeat.
