Banning the thief account does no good. If they restored accounts, it would be no real trouble to do this in ways that couldn't be easily discovered by GGG, and once it was profitable to do so, incidence would go through the roof and it would become a serious issue to the game economy and a huge boon to the people operating outside the normal trade system.

Inflation from item restoration might not be problematic in the case of real account theft, but it would cause huge problems down the line.

I am not saying make it a permanent policy. Allow it temporarily to buy them time to get better security features in the game. If they offer a paid (or free, but to me it should be paid) authenticator then they could drop the restore policy. If you don't want to pay $5 for an authenticator you can still play the game, but you have to take more personal security measures. At that point no one has an excuse for getting hacked because the game does offer a way to protect yourself.

And to combat the above situation, just have a 24 hour report window if you want a restore. It will take longer than 24 hours to offload a bunch of currency and items for real money 99% of the time. (and if that character offloads it to another character it should be traceable as well, but eventually it will get to burdensome to track but also very time consuming for the thief)

And screw the people who don't play daily? Also, laundering items through legit-looking trades seems possible, though not trivial.

I got hacked too, it's not a lot but still, I lost a lot of items.

Don't save your password was the response in global chat. Super, but this should have been adressed by the devs. It's a bit of a disgrace this.

Same thing that has happened to me, and yes I have never used any program or been on any iffy web site, so I believe from the numbers posted on here it a bigger problem than some of the ones posting on here want to admit, so remove you heads from the sand and look and see whats been happening

it's sad... I've been keeping a close eye on this topic for the last two weeks...

and only TWO...TWO ppl, that I've seen, have acknowledged that they've used third party programs (I've read countless post.. but there could be a couple more...but not many).

Rather than this fight over: "I did nothing wrong, my comp is fine, GGG is to blame etc..."

Why not be honest and do your best to help figure out what is going on.

Try to "honestly" (<-- I know a tough thing to do sometimes) help fix the problem, so "you" don't have to go through it TWICE (or more). And more importantly, so your fellow gamer doesn't have to.
