I'll be honest with you, I used to keylog people myself in Diablo 2 as a kid (10 years ago, give me a break). I'm not really upset about losing my currency, I guess I had it coming. Like I said, I don't really care about losing my currency, I actually found it amusing since it was quite a surreal thing to see. I don't want anything back and I perfectly understand why a rollback is not an option like it may be in some other games.

What drives me crazy, however, is the denial that this even happened. Being told that I need to uninstall Java and learn to use a computer is just amusing to no end.

Cookies and Java do not protect against phishing. If you were using a third party program to modify the game, cheating or otherwise, it could have easily taken your password.

Perhaps by the end of the day after people get home from work etc they'll release their apology. There's no way this happened. I also work in IT and educate everyone I know in security. Really GGG? If people can sneak into the Pentagon's records do you really think yourselves immune? You're sitting on a goldmine of account information.

I saw something like this happen at the beginning of GW2. And yes, it was dictionary attacks and previous account information lists that got people's accounts stolen. That was a gradual ongoing thing that tapered off when they implemented location specific login validations and restrictions. This was extremely sudden and has been ravaging the game over the last 24 hours. They have a list of accounts and are probably still destroying them as you read this.

:) At some point when i finnish some debths/ & finnish buying s0ome nice bundles for steam/desura games & get some other parts of my fav franchises on steam ( GrandTheftAutos,TheElder Scrolls so far got oblivion gotydeluxe, AlanWake,Crysis,MaxPaynes etc) after all that,i will point my wallet towards this PERFECT GAME and shout I'MA FIRIN MAH LAZAH.

Silly. Also, working in IT doesn't mean you know anything. I know plenty of incompetent IT workers, I can add you too that list now too. Hope you weren't too attached to your items.

Got hacked as well. Some time between 12 midnight CST and 6 PM CST today..... no 3rd party programs or funny sites...... Very frustrating...

If they did a dictionary attack for this game (never got into the issues with GW2 didn't care as I don't like the game) It's 100% NOT ok for the account not to get locked after lets just say 100 trys? That is just asking for issues GGG. If you allowed that, and it's an super easy fix. You're asking for people to lose their stuff that you refuse to replace.

I have a rough idea what this may have been from.

I was recently google searching for info about certain items in PoE, and quite a few links to the 'forums' came up. I clicked on one of these links to find that it wanted me to log in before accessing the forums in any way.

This instantly let me know that it was a scamming website as you do not have to log into your account to simply access the forums.

So if like me, you like to surf the forums often; never log in if prompted to. It's probably just a phishing scam.
