Budget Fireball Elementalist

I am tempted by Fireball this season with the damage increase. My only concern would be the single target potential of the build with more of a focus on the gatekeeper bosses this time around. The build would definitely be good as a starter though.

Something I have been messing about with tonight going hybrid in the long-term goal of lowlife would be something like this www.poeurl.com/KjA

Can you please let me know how I should deal with reflect? That's about the only thing I'm really worried about.

This will be a Hard Core build.

You can get an Essence Worm ring and put Purity of Fire in it and bring a Ruby Flask with you, but even before the Fireball buff reflect maps could kill you with all that. So... basically:

I haven't even played with the Ele reflect proof since it was added, but if you're playing hc then it's really no question to reroll the map.

You can try to cheese some bosses by kiting into/around a pillar/wall since Frost Wall won't work now. Fireball doesn't need more than two or three Rolling Flames jewels and it looks like you'll be able to get at least two in. With that AoE, GMP/LMP will demolish bosses with adds. We have no idea how all the boss fights are like except one and it doesn't look like it has constant adds so you can switch out your GMP/LMP or even something like Faster/Slower Projectiles if multiple projectiles is definitely not needed for the fight. It's probably still going to take a long time so I'd be using Vaal Grace/Discipline as well unless you enter and it's nothing but the boss so no souls.

I don't understand why berserker would be a good ascendancy?

-40% more damage
-life leech
-conditional movespeed
-conditional stun immunity/reduced damage taken

40% more damage and free leech, this equals 2 gem slots.
Ok I think I'm sold on the beserker fireball build. Actually I'm pretty set on it now.

I have a few questions; if someone could take the time to give me their opinions I would much appreciate it. Thank you.

1. I'm assuming that this will be a non crit build - should I use rolling flames and how many? So far I'm seeing about 3-4 possibilities for placement.

2. Should I pick up extra aoe on tree or will the rolling flames jewels be enough?

3. Should I worry about taking Vaal Pact - it was mentioned before that with this build reflect shouldn't really be an issue.

4. On that same line of thinking should I take "Cloaked in Savagry"? Keep in mind this will be a hardcore build. Cloaked in Savagry looks very tempting if I'm going to go Beserker. But.... I'm not sure I will do endgame lab for temp league... I'm horrible at running the lab.

Well these are the big questions.... I could ask about a dozen more but basically what I really need is a build guide.

Sorry for all the questions, I just don't like rinse and repeating in a temp league. I would like to be squared away for tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Ok, ok. I'll write a bit.

It's too difficult to get to the right side of the tree for crit when you're also going for Blood Magic. That being said, crit builds at late end game with expensive items will almost always outperform non-crit.

You only need 2-3 Rolling Flames for Fireball. The reason I stick with two is because you have two "ok-efficient" spots at left side of Templar and above Witch. The only other options are the ones along the Scion highways and those force you to waste a couple extra points to make the 50 int.

You don't need extra AoE if you don't want it. The AoE clusters by Templar and Witch start aren't too bad and are pretty natural to spec into, but you don't really need the extra AoE and it's possible you can use those points for more damage elsewhere. Really just up to you.

Vaal Pact is just too far away like the crit nodes problem.

Cloaked in Savagery probably isn't a great node for this build. You're better off spending the last uber points on War Bringer for some Enduring Cry synergy and taking the two natural Endurance Charge points on the left highway. This will also greatly help in a hardcore build with or without War Bringer specced.

As for the build...
This (Click) is what I'm thinking for a non-crit Berserker Fireball BM build. Forget the jewel nodes and just make the circle to BM as quickly as possible then pick up the other regen nodes to Combat Stamina. Then +30 dex node and then fill out Templar life nodes. Next is chaos life nodes and Explosive Impact fire AoE cluster. Then make a choice to go to Witch for damage or fill out your current skeleton with life nodes/endurance charges delaying more damage for maybe 5-10 levels. Definitely get one jewel node for Clear Mind jewel if you are lucky enough to find it or can trade for one.

Now the big problem with this build: dex and gem acquirement. You will need to get dex by master crafting or just finding a huge +dex something. Not actually the hugest deal. But... now you realize Marauder doesn't get a lot of the support gems you want. Definitely doesn't get Conc Effect or Controlled Destruction maybe some other things you want to play with. So that's really annoying, which is why I'm thinking of playing as Scion now with this (click). Deadeye would let you use LMP instead of GMP saving 10% more damage, but also remember losing Berserker's 40% more damage. The 30% piercing is also perfect for clearing packs a bit faster but not having too much pierce that you're constantly losing out on AoE damage. It's possible Slayer's culling and slight increased damage to rares and uniques would help with this league, but it's hard to say when you also lose Berserker's life leech. You also get all the gems you need with Scion and slightly more dex. This build also has more damage on the tree, but always have to think about losing that 40% more from Berserker.

Tough decisions. Gluck with the half a day you have to make it. Hope I've made it more confusing.
No, not confusing at all... Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate it very much. I've been playing POE off and on sinse it started and I've always wanted a good solid fireball build but never managed to get one to maps. I was very tempted after the Rolling Flame Jewels came out, but still didn't feel that it was enough.

Now I feel that Fireball is finally viable and I'm really excited to start the new league with it.

The confusing part (that has nothing to do with your excellent reply) is which direction to go with it.

I'm pretty torn. Like you said; obviously crit is going to be better with late game mapping. But... I'm not too worried about that. So I'm going to stay with non - crit.

So there's the decision of whether or not to go BM or non-bm. Dual curse or one curse. I would really like to fit in temp chains if I can.

going with big aoe for shotgun effect or going with a 1 shot prolif build.

I'm very tempted to go with prolif. But I feel that I would need to be crit to make a good prolif build work.

So ... I think that I'm just going stick with your idea and go with berserker. Scion is also a great choice as well as witch.

But for Hardcore I think berserker is my choice. So again thanks for taking the time to help. I hate not have a solid plan for a league starter.

Fireball has an extremely high mana cost so I made my build BM when those Arctic Armour, Clarity, and Reduced Mana nerfs happened. It just takes a lot of currency to get +mana and mana regen on so many things so you can't run things like double Mokou's. But, the Pledge of Hands should help a bit if you do decide to use mana.

I normally use Enfeeble or Temp Chains just for safety, but with the introduction of Eye of Innocence you can couple it with one or two Mokou's and probably be perma-ignited so it may be best to focus on Flammability first just to ensure ignites.

You can experiment with Emberwake and get as much fast casting as you can to stack burns, but crit is just better.

Hey guys, how would you do the leveling for this build?

What items/skills did you use in general while leveling?

And, how did you progress through the passive three?

Thanks :)
