[2.2] [HC] Malibu's CoC - Let's Get Physical [Best Build Ever? Click(bait) to find out!]
my only concern is that I will be using volls for the time being and I'll need 4g on it...
Looks good though, may give it a shot as the constant discharges are a pain to watch in the end. Also, even my guildies won't play maps with me ;D |

Just threw this on an 84 Shadow with the hybrid spec about two hours ago and played. Time for some feedback!
Disclaimer: The highest map I've attempted on this build is a blue tier 4. I probably won't try much higher until some gear problems are fixed. Regarding those, my gear is shit even by "budget" standards. I haven't finished socketing and indeed only one CWDT setup (the higher one) is running. My Vagan dagger is just 6.6% crit (although I still hit about 72% crit at 5 charges) as I hilariously still don't have Elreon 8 in standard and don't have the 2 ex for multimod atm anyway. All that said, I'm enjoying this even more than I did the Wayne Train discharger - that's saying something, because I've always loved a good CoC but a discharging CoC was my real dream. I attribute that mostly to the fact that this is traditional CoC without single-target problems. Most of my other attempts at CoC were wand or ST based and reeeaaaally struggled in single-target. The leveraging of physical/chaos nodes -> physical spells + Atziri's Promise is pretty brilliant. I also love the Blade Vortex Curse on Hit and PCoC setup. At first it felt wonky but I got into the habit of using it to keep the CoC up - to say nothing of the fact that this liberates the chestpiece from being Voll's and the need for PCoC in the primary gem setup. The build already feels very powerful and yet I have vast, vast amounts of headroom to improve. 10/10 would spec again Gear: |

Nice job! Hey, if you'd like me to craft crit on your dagger, PM me in game! It'll easily take you to 90%+ crit chance. I'm on right now @MalibuBeliever ^.^

" Per your suggestion I did indeed hit 89% crit with the crafted mod. :P Still wallowing in my idiocy. That changes some regearing priorities, though. As a side note, holy shit Bladefall's dex requirement. I don't recall an active gem ever hitting a 150 req at 20. Edit: Now done up to rare tier 8 with the gear above. Still having a blast. Edit again: And that's still without the level 1 CWDT setup and WB + Fortify. So yeah, I guess that's a testament to the "budget" angle of the build. And again: Torture Chamber boss ded with gear above Last edited by ConsPark#2414 on Jan 15, 2016, 1:06:09 PM

I'm playing something very similar to your build.
Skill tree and
Gear
I was using Phys to Lightning instead of Controlled destruction since it gives me ability to shock. I'd suggest you to maybe try that :) I tried T12+ maps but it didn't go very well :) I just can't leech fast enough in some situations.. It would be great if I could add EK in my setup.. Auras: Blood Magic + Clarity + Hatred ; Herald Of Ash + Discipline + Blasphemy + Poachers Mark Blade Vortex + Inc Crit Strikes + Inc Duration + PCOC Just need a bit more survivability.. An odd cyclone behavior consideration for those who are already unaware:
Cyclone doesn't utilize mouseover "targeting" in any way. If you right click even while you have your cursor over a specific enemy, you're moving to the exact location under the cursor (and behind the target) and not the enemy. You can see this demonstrated by standing still and activating cyclone just once while mousing over the very top of Kuduku's head. What this means in practice is that particularly large enemies like Kuduku, Voll, and so on are going to require you to place your cursor at their feet or base while triggering cyclone. That is what will actually put you inside their model and ensure every cyclone hits them. Even for normal enemies this is kind of a big deal - I suppose in terms of size that height is what really matters. Aim for the feet. Edit: Also remember that if you're holding down your cyclone skill activation button that every time a new attack happens the destination for that cyclone is based on your cursor position at that moment (like always). That means that the further away your cursor is from your character the longer you'll travel before being able to change directions. Keeping your mouse very close to your character means that the travel times are short and it's much easier to stay on top of a target. Last edited by ConsPark#2414 on Jan 15, 2016, 8:37:05 PM

Anyone notice it's Controlled destruction with lowers crit chance...
|
|
" Yup! It adds much more damage than Increased Critical Damage gem and also doesn't affect the crit chance of the Cyclone. Last edited by Malibu#8237 on Jan 16, 2016, 4:04:17 PM

so you took a lot of spell crit nodes, how do these help if your using cyclone to proc the CoC?
|
|
" 99.9% of your damage comes from the spells, so spell crit buffs your damage immensely. I've only put seven points into spell crit, though, and haven't picked up any that were out of the way. It's pretty easy to hit the crit cap (95%) on cyclone with this tree. Try to think of them as completely separate stats, like spell proc chance (crit) vs damage (spell crit). |
