[2.1] Airstrike Inbound, a crit poison Bladefall Trapper

How would added chaos damage compare to other supports on bear trap?

I don't know if I'd value added chaos over the links I currently have on Bear Trap. Poison is mandatory, and Trap and Mine Damage gives by far the most DPS, followed by Increased Duration (which also increases the duration of the snare, I believe). That's the full 3L (Poison + Trap and Mine Damage + Increased Duration) in your Jaws of Agony if you are running that shield. If you want to make your Bear Trap a larger link (5+) I'd add Void Manipulation as a 5th link, and maybe leave Added Chaos to the last link.

In other news, I've gone a while without updating the build. I recently acquired some significant gear upgrades (IMO) so I'll be updating the equipment section. Now running a Bino's Kitchen Knife which is proving incredible defensively, and because of the proliferation the Bino's gives us I've dropped Multiple Traps for Void Manipulation (5L all green, if I had 4G1R I would use Increased Duration probably). I'm also using the Southbound unique gloves to make sure it's not my trap that kills the enemy, but my poison DoT. I grabbed this synergy from Pohx's video on Bear Trap + Bino's, he took it from someone else (sorry, forgot your name). I'll probably make a quick gameplay-only video on the build since it's gone through quite a few changes and levels since the last one.

Thanks!

Thoughts on dual curse with whispers of doom and running vuln + temp chains? Hex Master worth it?

edit:

Also in your screenshot section why does it show the additional chaos dmg? I'm not seeing it on my with similar links.

Has anyone killed Atziri yet with this build? I'd really like to know

I can wreck rare tier 12 maps blindfolded, took a shot at atziri and got rekt by the vaals overseers alone.. and my bladefall/bear trap are out-damaging the OPs by a large margin - I have binos, and opted for even more damage and a eva variant instead of ES.

There needs to be more synergy with the poison damage, the dps is ok but not good enough.

The additional chaos damage comes from Ming's Heart and also the Lightbane Raiment (which has 30% physical converted to chaos), I've since swapped out of Lightbane Raiment (but still have a Ming's Heart). Dual curse I can definitely see being very strong, vuln + temp chains would give you a lot of damage and I was actually considering using it at one point. In the end I decided to make my curse primarily a defensive one (I'm usually not in range of the mobs to get the full damage increase), as the build is somewhat lacking in mitigation otherwise.

EDIT: as far as Atziri goes I have the mindset that any build with enough damage can do it (even without decent mitigation or extreme HP) as the Vaal Overseer + trio fights are 100% dodge based. If you have 3.5k+ life you should be able to take a spear from Atziri without dying, and staying mobile with a trapper is basically all your defense anyways. I'd like to say it comes down to player skill (especially with high mobility builds) but I haven't tried it with this character yet. When I get my hands on a midnight I'll give it a shot and record it/stream it as well. The only problem I can see with the fight is that the phase of Atziri where she spawns adds could prove troublesome as you can run out of traps pretty quickly. Maybe you could solve that by having an EK trap link as a backup.

I have a variant of this build and normal Atziri is pretty easy. Haven't tried ubers.
Trying to get an idea of DMG priority, would you agree with: Trap Damage > Physical Damage > Chaos Damage > Inc. Damage over Time
Hi, I'm wrecking monsters with this build... Even though the DPS tool is low, the real damage is awesome.

I tried to mix a build with Acro + Master Sapper AND the templar area (mainly because I started as Sherkan's non-trapper build) and it works really well without any Chaos node yet. I dunno if the 9 traps are not a little bit overkill (I'm one point away from Master Sapper) but I'll try it.

Edit : I now have Master Sapper and I've realized how costly bear trap is with only 4 links (in the unique shield, around 100 mana per cast ; bladefall traps in a 5 links is aroud 90). Therefore, I'm not sure Master Sapper is that awesome as mana problems prevent me from trapping six/nine times in a row. The damage remains nice though, but considering the cost in passive points, I think boosted chaos damage could have been better. How do you guys deal with mana problem (I have several items with mana gained on kill, but against big badasses like Merciless Malachai, it did not shine.

However, I have two other questions : a lot of you guys chose arctic armour, instead of, say, Enfeeble on blasphemy. Why is that so ? It looks like Enfeeble is much stronger based on numbers only so I must be missing something. I still have the dual curse node and the second curse is really more tempting than arctic armour.

Last question : I am using Multiple traps, but I'm wondering if the bladefall area would not be enough by itself. Thus allowing the remplacement of this gem by another, more damage oriented.

I'm running full crit version and not using bino's. Currently Lv 94 with less than 58 hours played. Gems didnt even hit lv 20 after lv 90.(Meaning I have nearly no death and running maps above lvl around lv70s.)

My 5l Bladefall tooltip is 24K with 5 power charges up. 51% chance to crit and 477 crit multi. This is without atziri flask and any other sort of damage buffs like hatred, mings or HoA. I currently run Vul Blasphemy and AA. I did not spec any Chaos damage only nodes on the tree (I do have Fatal Toxin and DoT+Life Regen cluster) since I found it far more efficient just to scale the poison damage through initial physical hit damage through crit.

1/8: I obtained a 6link rare Assassins Garb and experimented how Crit multi, Controlled Destruction and Added fire performs. Gives a lot of tooltip but as a result I don't like any of them (lol), since I just can't notice the change in damage cuz I one shot things anyway without those extra multipliers.
For those of you tooltip warriors, on fully offensive setup on 6link, run Hatred and HoA, then use mings and pop atziri flask + taste. My tooltip on BF Multitrap is 69k.

I specced Acro on the tree and I am running a Belly. 5.5k life + Taste of Hate (Surgeon Jade flask of Reflexes before).

I also run a 4link utility trap, Trap-Multi Trap-Ele prolif-Shocknova or Cold Snap. This allows me to keep my power charges at all times easily since power charge effect Jaws shield counts 3 times if a set of multitrap is thrown. I have been soloing so far and Cold Snap proved more useful. Shocknova crits more often and would be more ideal in a party with size greater than 3 ppl to boost the party. The utility trap are also at 477 crit multi and does decent damage.

Any exiles and easier bosses gets killed with 1 crit bladefall trap or bear trap(with multitrap). Currently I am facerolling t10s. Alch, vaal and go style.

I just found a Ming's and tried it. It drops my life from 5.5k to 4.9k. It does give a lot of tooltip however the damage bonus it provides is non-existent to trash mobs because I have been 1 shotting all trash through lvling (solo).

Next steps on the character are
1. To craft or buy a better dagger, as my current one does not have spell damage. Add lightning damage and spell crit chance are mandatory mods. Spell damage is not a huge deal tho since the tree already have a lot of additive modifiers.
2.Get a 6 link and put in crit multi or Controlled destruction or Inc AoE. (Have one now but still prefer 5link belly.)
3.Uber atziri. Currently working on it, no runs yet.
4.Get to lv 96+ and finish the tree.

Gear

Oh yeah and normal atziri. One run took me about 5 minutes.

EDIT on 1/8: Updated Gear.

Gear

I am currently on 3 jewel sockets and plan to get 1 more.
Mods are focused on Trap damage, Life, global crit multi.

I have a Herald of Ash i my dagger because I was speed running some Ez canyons and plateaus. Also wanted to test the ignite damage it offers. Turns out i can't even notice.
