[2.1] Airstrike Inbound, a crit poison Bladefall Trapper

my actual link is trap - trap damage - bladefall - conc eff - poison - CD/VM and i was testing controlled destruction vs. void manipulation for some time. i was just wondering, how comes that void manipulation seems to be stronger than controlled destruction? shouldnt poisons damage result of bladefalls phys/added chaos (through passive force shaper, which also results of bladefalls damage)?

Void Manipulation is a little bit stronger because it scales both the chaos damage of the initial hit (from Force Shaper and any added chaos/conversion such as Ming's Heart and Lightbane Raiment) AS WELL AS scaling the poison damage itself. Void Manipulation gives a % more multiplier to all chaos damage, including both the initial hit AND the chaos damage over time of poison.

brotha, I'm stuggling trying to figure out how soul strike would help you out some how with mana ??

Soul Strike has an interesting quality that makes energy shield recharge EXTREMELY quickly. As you can see from his tree he picks up Eldritch Battery (and Essence Surge, the notable cluster beside it) which results in an extremely high "Energy shield recharge occurence modifier." The math for this works something like this: the base "cooldown" for energy shield recharge is 2 seconds (aka you need to not use ES, either to cast or to tank, for 2 seconds, and then it will begin to recharge rapidly). With Soul Strike (which gives 150% faster start) and essence surge (which gives 15% faster start) we are looking at a total of 165% faster start of energy shield recharge. The formula is 2 seconds divided by 1 (base 100% start of energy shield recharge) plus the total "faster start of energy shield recharge," but not as a percentage. In this case, instead of your energy shield beginning to recharge in 2 seconds, it will begin in 2/2.65 seconds (roughly 0.75 seconds). This means with the Soul Strike, you can roughly throw a trap every ~1 second (the time it takes for your ES to recharge) instead of once every 2+ seconds.

Judging by level of activity on this thread, this is probably the dumbest question ever but i'll ask anyway:

Is this still viable in ascendancy?

And if you have any answers along the lines of "Why mess around with this when you could be doing the new [whatever] skill/build, instead?", please PM them so we don't spam up the nice man's thread.

TY :)

I've been playing a version of this build in 2.2, and have been crushing the content so far. Already have an Atziri kill, and can farm merc lab with no issues at all. The damage is super high, and even with Ming's Heart I'm running with 4k life. I can run maps blind as no mod really stops me at all.

I took Saboteur for Chain Reaction. I went with a Divinarius instead of Binos, as the AoE from Chain Reaction and Cluster Trap eliminates the need for poison prolif. Also decided to go for a Carcass Jack as this allowed me to run Conc Effect with almost no downside. I picked up Deep Thouhts in the passive tree to help with the mana cost of a 6L.

Here's my current tree at Lv80:

And here's my current gear:
Spoiler

As far as gems go, my current setup is:
Spoiler
Chest: Bladefall - Trap - Trap and Mine Damage - Poison - Cluster Trap - Conc Effect

Helm: CWDT - Immortal Call - Increased Duration - Molten Shell (When I roll RRRR)

Dagger: Blasphemy - Enfeeble - Clarity

Shield: Stone Golem - Minion Life - Minion Resists

Gloves: Whirling Blades - Faster Attacks - Fortify (one open slot here, probably a Herald for curse-immune maps)

Boots: Vaal Grace - Vaal Grace - Rallying Cry - Increased Duration (still rolling colors on this one)

I would drop the Conc Effect on a 5L. Until you get a good 5L or 6L chest, you can use Deerstalkers for an easy 5L, they sell really cheap. If you aren't using Divinarius and Carcass Jack, you could probably sub in Void Manipulation instead of Conc Effect if you AoE is too small for you.

Thanks! Very cool! :)

I have been trying to follow the old build from memory and yeah, it is working pretty well. (I hate how you can't look up old builds. One of the biggest flaws of this game tbh.)

My guy is 65 and in pretty bad shape survivability-wise, but I am 99% self-found so far and I haven't even been IDing anything but caster items and jewelery since like lvl 20. Since Perandus sold me a tabula rasa and I got some decent boots, i've pretty much been riding on 6L power and fast reflexes. ;) But I am reaching the content level where that is wearing thin so I am going to gear up and possibly rearrange some passives. Extra guidance comes at a perfect time!

I see I am missing some significant things and at least one thing which is not rly needed (High Explosives not that exciting for this build now that I re-read it.)

Expeditious Munitions actually seemed like a pretty amazing stack of bonuses on one node and the travel nodes aren't exactly bad either, with that throw speed bonus. I am using trap cooldown so they complement each other. But at this point I should probably just retool for better first-strike damage.

Did OP have Acrobatics?

And when it's all said and done I'm going to figure out a way to work Conduit in somehow if I find that I'm steadily playing w/ groups. I see it as basically a public duty if u are a charge-generator. ;)

I'm curious also how do you map all your skills?
I'd say if surviving is an issue, it might be best to drop Tabula and get a good rare chest for now. For me personally, my 6L is almost always just Increased Area, so it's not even more damage, just a faster clear. The only time I sub out AoE for Conc Effect is on Atziri or if the map has a clear boss room. You can get Deerstalkers for less than a chaos, and that's a really easy 5L for almost no investment. Bladefall - Trap - Cluster - Trap/Mine Damage - Poison would be your 5L, with the boots taking care of Trap for you.

As far as your skill tree goes, I made a few changes. I didn't add any extra points, just moved some stuff around. I dropped Fatal Toxins for now, and took away some damage on the tree to try and get you more life. Specifically, the Herbalism cluster, and the Life/Mana cluster near Witch. There's already not much life on the tree for this build, so I tried to get all I could early on. Bladefall already does a ton of damage, you don't really have to focus hard on it early on. I'd focus on the DoT/Poison nodes in later levels. I'm 82 right now and only just now getting stuff like Fatal Toxins. Since we don't use Binos, the poison damage is a LOT less important, and I'm seeing more than enough damage just scaling the Bladefall damage right now. As far as High Explosives, I'd skip on it. Half of the node does nothing for us. Do grab the two small ones in front of it, though. I also fixed your pathing just south of Fangs of the Viper. You can drop the two dex nodes there since you'll get to the same place just fine on the way to Herbalism and the frenzy charge trap cluster.

I can't remember if Acro was in the original build or not, but I went ahead and picked it up. I was mostly grabbing pure evasion/life gear and not focusing on ES at all, so there wasn't really a downside. Whether or not you pick it up really just depends on if you're getting a lot of ES or not. I figured I was already cutting my ES with a Ming's Heart, so I just never focused on getting more of it.

As far as my own gear, I did get lucky with the 6L Carcass. I linked it myself and just got really lucky. If you can't afford any of the gear I already have, you'll do more than fine with a decent rare chest and any dagger with a decent amount of spell damage and crit.

Wanted to add my two cents in and my appreciation for posting up this build. This was my new build in Perandus after not playing this game since OB.

The build is fun. Legitimately fun. I ran the build closer to the original (Bino's/Southbound/Ming's Heart/Sunblast) since I didn't know too much about new legendaries (and considering how expensive Divinarius is oh boy).

Maps are not a problem but I don't have optimal gear yet so I have to dodge with whirling blades and keep tabs on when to peek my head through the doorway of an army of archers/mages or else I'll get killed. Atziri I've yet to do though. Normal game content a breeze.

This is a great build and I honestly built it because I wanted a janky trapper build. This far exceeded my expectations.

Thanks a ton OP!
