State of the Beta - Post #6

Good to hear about new top-tier mods, yeah ! :)

:( but in this case for me late July will be better, but... ergh, ok :]
I'm seriously scared they are trying to push this to production before it's ready.

As is, i can't even go a day without crashing about 5 times upon loading zones/etc.
This still feels HEAVILY like a beta... I just can't see the improvements needed to smooth everything out coming soon enough.

Still no word about the obviously outrageous physical damage spikes in endgame maps that we ALL know exist.

I have now WASTED HUNDREDS OF ETERNALS AND THOUSANDS OF HOURS crafting this since open beta in hopes of making it mirror worthy only for you to make higher mods just before I finish? I cannot express enough anger towards you. Looks like I'm done with PoE

My only regret is giving GGG any money, I wish I could take it all back after this slap in the face. GGG will never see another dime from me.

What I love about you guys is that you feel the need to try to "intimidate" the devs by saying you're quitting, when in fact, you're probably gonna stick around, maybe you'll go for a couple of days or weeks... but in the end, you're not quitting, and you know it!

[Removed by Support] this game is about farming, so just re-farm your gear once you hit the new endgame.

This expansion will be an absolute train wreck. I wouldn't be surprised if GGG closed their doors shortly after. I don't see the whales spending more money on the game after this.

rip your long list of original items

If GGG is anything like an office supply store, most of their revenue comes from small consistent supporters and mtx purchases - not the big Xerox copy machines but from pencils and paper. Big supporter packs are a nice burst of revenue but that tapers off.

If I had to guess, whatever and wherever these big spenders are, their $$ is now flowing back to GGG.

I can’t buy any more big supporter packs because the forum only supports showing 7 legacy tags.
On new top tier mods

Given that people have spent so long crafting items, it might be worthwhile to insert the new mod tiers into the middle of the current mod pool and bump the existing higher tiers up in their effectiveness. In this way the people that have spent tons of currency crafting "the perfect gear" won't have so much time an effort "wasted." Because let's face it--really getting all perfect things is incredibly difficult. Here's an example of what I mean:

Current physical top-tier rolls (high to low):
Tyrannical > Cruel > Bloodthirsty

With your proposed new mods (high to low):
New top tier mod > Tyrannical > Cruel > Bloodthirsty

My proposition (high to low):
Tyrannical (stronger than previously) > Cruel (stronger than previously) > New top tier mod as strong as old Cruel mod > Bloodthirsty

This, of course, would have to happen for all the new top tier mods added. But with my suggestion the gear that people spent ages crafting wouldn't become obsolete, and if you insert the new mod lower down in tiers (putting it after cruel instead of after tyrannical or after bloodthirsty even), the less it will affect old gear. The nice thing is that this shouldn't have any affect on new leagues, since the same amount of mods will exist, the top ones would just be named differently.

I can see an issue with item level, as perhaps items which aren't high enough item level could have mods they shouldn't otherwise have. I think this is a small sacrifice in order to make the effort people put into old gear worthwhile.

I'm not entirely certain the intent behind new top tier mods "obsoleting" old items, which is just straight power creep, something which I thought was against design philosophy. I certainly understand if there's a desire to make rares more competitive with uniques, but there are ways to implement this change without destroying all the old items people have lovingly crafted.

On new spell mods

I think that this is a great change, and one that I really like. However, I'm concerned that the mod pools will just be too large for daggers, wands, scepters, and staves. The reason is that people use these weapons for spellcasting and attacks. This makes their mod pool huge (relative to other items) and makes it harder to find the type of weapon you actually want. It might be worth taking out some other mods for these weapons so that it's a little bit easier for people to find the right type of weapon.

Specifically this targets anybody wanting to use these weapons for attacks, since only new spell mods are being added. I could see this being problematic, and it might be worth considering taking out some mods from these weapons' mod pools to accommodate this change. (But, perhaps not.)

Great Changes GGG! The biggest disappointment in this game was that every single patch you guys created legacy uniques/rares, and nothing could be better than items that were crafted with 1k+ex years ago.

In a healthy game we should have better item options every once in a while! Way to go GGG!

So it looks like the few winners out of this will be:

1) The top crafters (they already made all their money from BiS, current orig crafts that will be 'worthless', will be like T2). They are probably smart enough to have hoarded ets and exas already to work on new crafts as soon as 2.0 comes out.

2) The 1% of the 1% who have money left over to mirror new gear, which will cost A LOT more, probably (at least, in the early stages of 2.0).

The big losers:

Everyone from mid - mid/upper wealth, below 1% who used up most of their currency for some mirrored and top gear already.

I am sadly excited, and really shocked by this at the same time... if they wanted to keep things new and fresh in STD for all, they could do something creative about END GAME content, rather than target mirror gear, and pretty much piss off a large base of STD. There must be some purpose to this madness, or they are with holding something, not sure what, but for their sake, and ours, I hope they thought through this really carefully...

I think

The big Losers
are those who don't expect the game to evolve and change over time.

Expecting new content and not expecting it to impact the game - that's unrealistic.

Good news though, none of these items are coming to standard anytime soon ...

+2 map drops are dangerous?

Yet the insane spike physical instant death damage still exists. Why?

new patch-better items and mods, mirrored gear value becomes 0

am I in D3?

Terrible move that will piss off most of the long time standard players.
It also show how power creep won the heart of the devs.

I hope you realize you will have to raise monsters life every dam patch if you also raise the mods strength on items.

More AOE, More dps...boring game
