The Awakening Supporter Packs
I know that I'm a cheapskate compared to many of the generous contributors here. but two years after my previous purchase of a supporter's pack, I felt the time had come to make another contribution to GGG, for all the fun I've had from Path of Exile.
The forum title is a permanent record of my contribution, the weapon effect looks good on my Dual Claw Shadow, and the beta key has given me a chance to help test Act IV and the accompanying new features. Thanks to all concerned at GGG for this package. |

Can someone please confirm if the FLAC version of The Awakening's OST is mono or stereo? Foobar is showing mono. Music as epic as this needs to be experienced in stereo for proper sound-staging and I'm a bit disappointed right now.
I'd also like more details about the musicians involved with this score. Where can I find this information? EDIT: I was under the impression that these will be high definition (24/192 maybe?) but they are regular 16/44 CD quality (mono, 290kbps). Last edited by AODBluu#2295 on Apr 30, 2015, 4:38:44 AM

PoE nice game etc. etc. always keep an eye on interesting content and I made it a habit that if I play and enjoy the game I pay or support it (supporter packs and points in the past).
That said, I think it is time to ditch the "supporter" thing it does not feel right to still do it this way. A proper economy/ trade of goods (cosmetics) and incentive to buy goods should have replaced these packs a year ago. Here is the next step in evolving PoE: Make themed packs (like some armour sets, but more like the actual supporter packs) permanent, occasionally a limited special comes by. I loved the full armour supporter packs awhile ago, but since I was not playing at the time, I did not opt in. I stopped being a supporter, I am an appreciator. If I want to sponsor I will sponsor homeless kids or cancer research or maybe an upcoming entrepreneur. I don't want a charity cause I want game I like to play and that entices me to buy visual swag, I like bundles and packs they always look like great value for $. PoE is a great game, but compared to other games on top of my list it has been really ineffective in emptying my pockets. Not sure if I got much time to play the new upcoming content, but I think that I will decline supporting even if I play, the only interesting bit is actually the cheapest supporter pack and I am contemplating that one, but could spend a lot more. The reason: These look to me as the worst supporter packs to date, which I guess is a lot due to my personal taste. The best: the beta access it is a nice reward for supporting a f2p game. I read the replies a bit, apparently this is a big thing, but I don't understand why at all. Alas for me this has little value I think trying out the content when complete suits me enough if I have the time, PoE isn't that casual of a game after all. Bad: forced physical goods. The t-shirt I am not interested in, coming from someone with an old borg (resistance is futile) t-shirt kept in his closet. For someone with a decent/ size-able comic collection I am very nitty-gritty on what I want and do not want(autism who knows?). I always go by a physical store to check print quality, if the story and above all the art style interests me. Physical goods are just tricky and I would have loved to see something like a collectors tier where that stuff can be found. The worst: Giant demon over your exile. You go from armour sets and backpacks to this. I think somre portals or even back attachment were over the top, but this feels just awkward. I could imagine this being something that belongs on an over the top enduring cry. I guess this fits in with the corruption/ gemling stuff that we as exiles are slowly getting possessed? I just don't like it, it seems over the top to me. Witchdoctor in D3 also has this spell with a phantasm hanging above him, always looked crap. Good: weapon effect, pretty standard. They look better than the 1st ever tier of effects, back in 2013 we needed to buy every effect 2 times to get both the mainhand and offhand equipped. Glad to see this has been addressed, as I believe that made me skip a supporter pack themed around weapon effects when I was playing (the divine stuff, albeit the rhoa's were good). Writing all of that can actually be summarized as: I am done with supporter packs, I think to concept is getting outdated. I am a potential customer (you could get money of me) and I am looking for deals. Doing business with you is a token of my appreciation. The current packs or point bundles do nothing personally that I am willing enough to show my appreciation (you used to be able to get better than 1:10 if you bought more points). I evolved from supporter to appreciator I am a different kind of "target audience" and I think I am far from alone. The packs are fine for minor content, but with a new act and so much extra content coming with awakening I feel that you want to bank in $$$ and overall these packs don't do it (not for me). Some idea maybe even short term: Create a new supporter pack, the point pack with bonus points and the supporter/ appreciator title. Create a pack which includes random items such as: cheap pack: point + random weapon effect + random courier from the store (limited to mtx point value of effects and couriers ofc. Example:100% random frog or even: 90% chance to get a frog, 9% to get a spider 1% to get burning fox)) mid tier: armour/ portal effect/ backpack/ weird demon + points (could again be random) When random make it a very nice deal, but you have to try 3 times to get what you actually want (pseudo random packs, so you get no doubles, without a trade market there is little value in doubles for mtx). If you tried 3 times you actually spend more $$$. You don't need to stack items as in spend this much and you get all the previous stuff, that is for supporters not for the appreciator. Physical pack: t-shirt, map, comicbook etc. - Give an option to re-buy older packs/ swag, ever since closed beta these packs, the exclusiveness to them has been lost anyways, exclude the title swag if you wish, but items can sell. Bringing back portals, armour sets basically doubles the current mtx market for those items, perhaps make it more expensive to keep the "supporters" happy. Just throwing out some feedback what would appeal to me to spend money in PoE. If I am willing to spend 100 what would entice me? I hope some of this stuff makes sense and perhaps is useful for future decisions with regard to packs in general. Last edited by Ozgwald#5068 on Apr 30, 2015, 5:21:29 AM

I didn't read the whole 55 pages, so if this was asked before I am sorry.
Is there any way to opt out for beta key? So you can give it to someone else? I am not into beta/feedback stuff much. I'll just wait for the release. I will buy a pack to support and the T-shirt. PS: Hey Chris, you really should open a permanent tangible items shop. I'd really love to have some POE goods, like mugs, mouse pads, caps, tees, messenger bags etc. |
