Developer Questions and Answers
Will we get pants? I ask because we're in dire need of another 4-link source.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" +1, I've never reach levels higher than 50 with any class but I think that the existence of a new mechanic will definitely push me further :). |

QoL improvments?
Any info on new upcoming skills / gear? What goals do you have for the next leagues / race season? How long are you going to try and make PvP a thing? It seems like the interest in it has come and gone. What is the dev team most excited to be working on right now? All these question aside, that have probably been asked 1,000 times in this thread alone, are there any plans or is it even possible to make the forums search function work better? I don't think you can blame us for asking the same questions over and over when we can't properly search the forums to see if said posts exist already. Oh and can we get the node search that is available on the website in game? I love theory crafting but hate that I'm forced to pretty much do it out of game when dealing with the tree. Will 1.4 maintain the pattern of ranged > melee? Crit > no-crit? Low-life > life?
Melee is more challenging to play than ranged, and has less survivability, with less damage. Why not give melee more love? When will you remove ridiculous surgeon flasks that allow for infinite and constant flask uptime? Was that really your intent? Was the intent to allow a single player to destroy all NPCs on screen in a party of 6 in the highest level maps due to high end-game crit gear? |

Will Act 4 be Patch 1.4? How much might it change things up as far as updating both gem skills and passive skills?
You guys keep a database of the various skills, items, etc. However, there is a lack of going over certain game mechanics and how the game calculates certain things. Players have been going through the game to try and track things down, but it would help immensely if there was direct confirmation of how certain things work in the game so people can better plan characters. For example, lists of skills that work with certain weapons. If something boosts projectiles it's not always clear exactly which skills and weapons it supports even if a skill has "projectile" in its description. Could you guys give stats for every level of every skill gem? Normally they go up to 20, but there are plenty of ways to get that higher and there isn't a complete public database for what the effects are. You own site does not list stats for gems as far as I've seen, but the gamepedia wiki does as best it can up to gem level 30 if people have looked in depth at it and recorded it. What do you guys think about how certain pieces of equipment find their way phased out? For example, popular streamers keep mentioning that two-handed weapons of all types are really falling out of favor for high-level play. What are your thoughts on that? Are they balanced enough in game that it's just down to personal preference, or might it be a true underlying issue with the game? Can you tell if those streamers are correct in their assessment that 2h is not popular? If you can, are they? How might that be reasonably rectified if it needs it and what challenges might there be in doing so? Likewise, is armor something you're seeing fall out of favor? If so, how might it be brought up given the way your entropy system works with evasion? For example, after looking through the mechanics of how evasion and armor work I am heavily considering not making an Iron Reflexes and Unwavering Stance build like I wanted to at first because it has a lot of potential to take more damage and thus require more defenses than not taking them in the first place and being able to utilize other gear and keystones. Is Ondar's Guile something you're finding is so popular it almost feels mandatory for certain melee builds? It addresses a key weakness with them since projectile attacks and killing the enemies that use them can be a hassle. Have you guys been able to make any improvements regarding the "EOUTOFMEMORY or Unable to Map File or Unable to MapViewOfFile" errors in the Common Technical Problems thread? Are there any plans for a different kind of item class? Like maybe set pieces? I would hate to see something that requires like 5+ pieces to wear... but maybe 2x rings, or a sword and shield set combo that gives extra bonuses for wearing both pieces.
Please excuse me if that has been asked, there are like 46 pages at the time of this post :P Also, I love everything that has happened in this game, however I still haven't fought Atziri. Just want to say keep up the good work, you've successfully made the game that took Diablo 2's place for me :D Played that one since 2000, and nothing has come close, except Path... totally dominates the genre as far as I'm concerned. |
