Also regarding the helm: Nobody's pointed out the fact that it's EV helm making blue/red sockets a little harder to roll. Not impossible, mind you, but it's going to be tough to get perfect aura-socket configurations on it (Reduced Mana Cost + 3 auras, which seem to be mostly blue).

People like using auras, both for the idea of having a constant buff on their character as well as having the cosmetic effect of it. Auras are fun, this helm helps in that regard, I find it hard to hate it.

The fact that the 5% to all max resists on Purity has been scaled to Level 23 rather than 22 shows that GGG are concerned about game balance and aware of the implications that adding this helm would bring. I imagine they would also already have done extensive internal testing (hence the purity issue) so I'm not too concerned.

This helm looks awesome (and would be even more so once it's 3D effect is introduced in-game) and is going to help CI Melee characters alot. (Face it, they are the ones who will benefit the most from the CBF/CBC mods as compared to a high HP/Iron Reflexes character (which due to their high HP already have defense vs status ailments)

Considering the number of threads on forums I've read recently complaining about status ailments and CI, I'm astonished how a unique that is able to help in that regard can get shot down so rapidly.

Mind you, I've never been a fanatic over game balance. I've always been much more concerned over the fun factor. If it means anything though, I personally don't find anything overly OP about that helm considering auras scale linearly and the only aura that would potentially have provided OP bonuses (+1% to extra max resists, which is unattainable on a normal rare) got fixed such that it wouldn't be an issue.

Remember, this is a level 64 base item after all. I don't know about you guys but I find this new trend of having useful and powerful high level uniques in the game rather than ordinary/otherwise useless ones refreshing


As a ranger using the blood magic gem, you had to invest 3 skill points to reach the 2x 5% reduced mana reserved nodes in order to run Determination/Haste/Purity/Hatred. With this helmet you save yourself 3 entire skill points while still being able to run said auras. This helmet is a huge deal for me.

Hey man, it's completely my fault, there was a bug on poexplorer where the dps was incorrect (I was counting the mod "Adds #-# Physical Damage" as elemental damage, so it was counted twice! Sorry! It's fixed now, for all items!

This helmet makes Blood Magic (the keystone, not the gem) completely obsolete for every single build as long as you can afford the cost, which I frankly expect to end up among top-5 most expensive items due to its immense usefulness.

Let's say you're a melee (mainly strength-based) damage dealer with little to no points invested into intelligence or mana/mana regen passives. You can now run 40% Determination + 40% Purity + 30% Hatred + Clarity and use other skills with no Blood Magic nor mana reduction nodes involved at all, and you only need around 1000 total mana to make this happen. All of these gain a notable +2 boost, too.

Pair this with Clarity + two mandatory curse/warcry/temporary buff gems + Reduced Mana in, say, boot slot, and you only need about 1000 mana for all of your active skill needs which is pretty easy to obtain by at most level 75 or so for any build. You don't compromise either of the 5/6L-capable item slots this way, and gain a few skill points' worth of extra survivability or damage.

You can then run two different flat reduction auras (say, Grace and Discipline/Wrath) in glove slot with Blood Magic gem and Reduced Mana if you feel like reserving ~600-700 HP, which might still be worth it depending on your build.

The only tangible downside for melee marauders and templars, as I see it, is that Unwavering Stance will have to be coupled with Iron Reflexes to take advantage of this helm's ER. And, well, it being fucking expensive, also considering the cost of making it 4L RRGB or RRBB.

But I swear, once I'm done with my current toon I'm going to make a hilarious Righteous Fire build around this unique for 5k+ dps.

Cool new wolf helm. Cant wait for these to actually have graphics although I worry at the rate new ones come out compared to the rate artwork seems to be getting done we may never see most of this in game.

Curious if any Diamond guy have thought about a Shield that can have 5-6 sockets but requires 2hands.
