Maelstrom was the original form of endgame, yes. Public parties doing Maelstrom runs would always reset the area until it was Mountain Ledge simply because it's the easiest/safest to run.

also u could split to run it from both sides to reduce clear time

Also was the most fun I have ever had in this game, been on a downhill slope since. This brings hope.
haha this is hilarious. Old school ledge running inc.
I know where I will be using my chance orbs now. WTB Mountain Ledge maps.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.

No Shit. I thought for sure it would have been the Undead Siege map.

Oh mannn I too had so much faith in it being the Undead Siege >...<

But it feels so good seeing that it's something so unexpected xD

Epic map. Just epic. Brings back memories. Now I'm gonna be chancing every ledge map I get. :)

+1.

I miss MoC. Give it back with just ledge, make it a level 65 area, and call it a day.

Ethereal Knives w/ Hatred and that scepter:

154% base damage (100% physical, 12.2% cold, 41.8% fire)
25% increased damage
20% increased elemental damage
25% fire penetration
6 life gained per hit (I think EK has 100% damage effectiveness)

How would this compare to using a higher spell damage wand?

Sure, you can manually socket a higher level Added Fire Damage, but there are plenty of useful support gems competing for that linked slot like life/mana leech, increased item quantity/quality, and faster projectiles.

Seems like a good enough weapon to use for level 41.

Sad thing is when you use fire pen and cold to fire you usualy want them quality version for their easy good bonus.

IMO, all things cosidered, an elemental templar or marauder (esp w/lava lash and templar +50% WED nodes) using this in offhand with a high physical dmg main sceptre, slotting ground slam w/WED and faster attacks supports while using a flame totem for added DPS is really the only way to fully utilize this weapon (add in molten shell too, if so inclined). Essentially, I see it as more of a shield slot than a mainhand weapon, and in that context, it looks pretty nice. Sprinkle in some dual wield passives and/or mace nodes to kick it up a notch and it could easily be built around, at least temporarily (while leveling). In fact, with The Supreme Truth as main at 41, you'd be looking at a pretty nasty combo, and honestly wouldn't even need any dual wield boosts for it to work quite well.
