Leap slam instead of Flicker?

Flicker needs melee splash so you're restricted to 1 curse.

If you had a 5L then flicker is the better option
So many strikes within one breath.
But only one strike needed, for certain death.

Ahhh, thanks.

I've been playing this build for a few nights now, thought I'd give a few thoughts.

It's a really fun build to play. I'm lvl 77, and don't have either the sword or chest 5Linked (6L? forget about it), so using 4L for now. But I still do decent damage.

Leap slam is so much fun to jump into a group and double curse them all and then set them all on fire. Great times watching a whole room just ignite and burn to the floor!

I do however find it to be a tad on the squishy side. I still don't have all the life nodes hit yet, so that certainly doesn't help, but the chest is a huge trade off. While you can have armor on all the rest, an evasion chest really hurts your armor rating. I've tried to offset it by using the armor aura but it's still a problem. Not a huge one tho, you just can't try to face tank some of the tougher bosses. (And make sure you have some granite flasks with the armor suffix).

Also, this advice on a 4L character:

The curses are fine. I've been switching between the vuln and the flammability and both seem equally fine to me. In fact, I almost think I'd prefer leap slam to Flicker, but I'll also assume Flicker has an advantage I don't realize right away.

But the 4L on the weapon needs a bit of tweaking. And one thing that should be mentioned, your main attack needs to be on the weapon due to it's unique mods. Maybe that's known to smarter people than I, but I didn't realize it until I tried to put my main attack into a 5L chest I own and realized it did less damage.

And a better 4L for the sword is: Cleave/Concentrated Effect/Multistrike/Melee Physical Dmg. I don't remember how much, but it did have better dps in the tooltip.

Also, I don't think I saw it mentioned, but definitely use Blood Rage with this build.

So, a really great build. I've loved playing it and it's been my main outta all my characters that I have sitting in my stable since returning to the game. My other duelists/rangers/shadows just haven't been as much fun as this marauder.

And one more question: I've got a few exalts saved. I can probably get a 5L Doomsower for that, I've seen a few priced at 2ex. But with the new update coming I'm a bit leery. Seems to me like a good idea to wait and see what the new skill tree does, right?

And also, with the new crafting tables, should I maybe just use the table to 5L or 6L it myself when I can afford it?

Thanks for trying out the build.

You're right about the cleave 4L, i completely forgot about conc effect (the highest dps gem) and your 4L combo is optimal.

As for armour values, the fact that you can get 6 seconds of physical immunity just by generating 4 charges and casting IC makes armour redundant. This is how i manage physical immunity.

From the notes:

"
Leap Slam is connected to Endurance Charge on Melee Stun.

This movement skill is usually used at first sighting of enemies and immediately get into flicker-cleave position and to build up one charge.

Constant use of LS will usually keep charges maxed constantly so that when the CwDT combo procs, IC usually lasts 5.5 seconds.

So the idea is to keep up endurance charges at all times to lengthen the cwdt-IC duration.

If you want to go down the armour path, i suggest getting Iron Reflexes to make use of the Grace aura for plenty of amour.

As for buying a new sword, its a good investment, especially since Doomsower isn't popular, you can possibly haggle this down further. Otherwise you can farm fusing and link it yourself via Vorici. Carcass 5L is also around 2ex so that too is a good investment.

Upcoming plans for this build in 2.0:

I will most likely be switching this over to the new melee skill Vigilant Strike:

The powerful hits will compliment the overkill burn nicely and the 8 second Fortify will be massive defensively.

And i will be switching over to Daresso's Defiance for Endurance charge generation to maintain VS.

Also, i'll check out the the new jewels, especially the one that offers an additional curse.

Another newbie mistake, I didn't understand how the order of gems in the Cast on Damage chain worked, so I didn't have it setup correctly. Something new I wasn't aware of.

Interesting. I saw this new melee skill and thought it seemed real interesting. I'm (me personally) worried about being able to keep up the charges tho.

First, I am loving this build.
I used to play your Cyclonus build, but I had already been using cyclone for a while and ended up getting bored, so I sold my Soul Taker and tried this build instead.

This is my gear. Since I am running 5link, I decided to remove multistrike, because it seems I can 1shot most packs anyway, and I rather like the feeling of just flickering up to a bunch of mobs, using cleave once, and see half the screen dead.

One thing that I've noticed, is that I am often able to sustain flicker strike with this setup, especially in lower level maps, which surprised me greatly, considering no multistrike and no dps scaling support gems

build is f'ing awesome, using in the league and smashing everything with just 4L Doomsorow and Carcass, I can't wait to see how op it is once standard comes raound and I get to 6L the stuff
Awesome.

Thanks for posting guys. I wasn't sure if anyone was following this build and i was not planning to update it for 2.0

I definitely will now.

when the changes in the beta are more complete towards the end, I'll start brainstorming ideas.

One interesting unannounced gem is this:

Aurify Curse

Probably never to be released but the implications for auto-cursing are tremendous.
So many strikes within one breath.
But only one strike needed, for certain death.
Looks like slightly faster clearspeeds then my current 2h cycloner. But a lot more squishy. I do like the fact that i would not need to run BM in place of a little bit of mana leech on my gear. I would probably go more of a physical route tho and not worry about curses or elemental damage boosts.

Cleave + Weapon Elemental Damage / Faster Attacks(whichever is more DPS) + Multistrike + Melee Physical Damage + Fortify + Increased Area of Effect

Herald of Ash + Hatred + Blood Rage + Enfeeble/Vulnerability

Blood Magic + Leap Slam + Enduring Cry + Increased Duration

Cwdt(level 20) + Immortal Call + Molten Shell + Increased Duration

Help Oak in all 3 difficulties.

Level 90 tree and the breakdown.

Would probably use Kaom's or Lightning Coil over Carcass Jack too, just to boost my survivability.

7 Endurance Charges + Soul Steel + Fortify gives you a flat 57% phys dmg reduction - add lightning coil along with the rest of your armor and you're pretty much immuned to physical attacks. Carry around a Grounding Topaz flask along with a Taste of Hate for spells.
Mess with the best, die like the rest.
