" yes, for existing russian poe players it makes no sense to abandon their progress and microtransactions and switch over to garena russia. in the first place the russian version will hopefully attract new russian players. and the prices garena will charge for microtransactions will probably be adapted to the difference in income between russia and the western world. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Few thoughts about Duelist vs Gladiator.
1) Duels were a major (and sad) part of Russian history. We all studied poems of Pushkin and Lermontov in our schools (if you did not, you should not make any translations at all), we all know about duels and their results. 2) Duelist from PoE did 1 on 1 fights to protect his honour. And thats why he was sent to Wraeclast. It was ILLEGAL. But that was a duel in Russian meaning. 3) Gladiators did LEGAL fighting, and it was not 1 on 1 in many cases. They were not exiled for this, they got money and, sometimes, freedom. 4) About the fact that Wraeclast civilization resembles Rome and Greece: he was called duelist in Oriath, not in Wraeclast. If he lived long time ago in Wraeclast, he could become a gladiator. But in Oriath he is just a duelist. About Shadow vs Bandit: of course, Shadow IS a bandit. Also, he is a man, he has black hair and, maybe, he is a fan of some singer, we don't know. But GGG decided to give the class a poetic and symbolic name. He was not called "Assassin" or "Man with Black Hair". And Russian "Тень" is a 100% adequate translation of original "Shadow". Do translators think that they know better how to call the class? Whoah, GGG just apparently can't translate PoE on their own, they gotta give it to JRPG ultra-hardcore asian fantasy fans from garena to do the job. And this is what you get. If people could get away without that 3rd party from garena,their repulsive design and start fresh with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, instead of mountain of fortunes here. Then I am certain mny people would play in russian.

as much as it's great, i can't help to feel not too happy about that, that's a large portion of population on the current server gone. It will be very noticeable.

Well, good news for everyone I guess.
Finally something to make space on my ignore list if those stubborn non-English speakers move to their regional server. Nice thing also that those who have no issues communicating with international community won't be forced to move. |
