Of course, but there are many people who can not afford those 15 chaos for a cloak. Especially people who just started their first character, they have to work with the chaos they found while playing the game - and not every one manages to find enough chaos to buy that cloak as they hit higher levels.

I will most likely also add a build for the cloak in the final guide, I plan on making several incinerators, and the most challenging one is the incinerator that can be played selffound - to such an extend that it is even playable in end game maps.

There might be many other incinerator guides that are better than this one here, but I opt to be the cheapest and most accessible of all, just for those who hate trading, just started, or can't be bothered to spend a lot on a character that still works endgame :)

Stop over using the word self found. 99.99% of new players will be likely to trade in the market. 15 chaos is easy to get, trade stuff that you find in end game maps for a chaos each and voila you have it in less than an hours.

U'd say yea it is easy for me to do that because I know the game, well it is as easy for me than it is for a new player. Give them the resources they need, PoE.xyz, forum shops, vendor recipes, it will all come to them effortlessly. There are thousands of shops selling uniques for less than an Alchemy. Do you know how common Alchs are in poe? Sometimes it almost saddens me when I hear a currency drop just to find out it's an Alch. There are too many!

Anyway my point is, instead of suggesting a barrier between you and the game's core reliance to achieve end game which is the market, you can instead give them the right tools to make their search for greatness a tad easier.

Also, if the new player reaches level 80 and has more than enough to buy a Cloak of Defiance, should he bare the burden or restarting his whole character because he just found a simple unique that over throws all his effort in making the best of the build core mechanism? I kinda feel that your guide is misleading.

Im a fan of incin builds to

currently my gear

The tree

So this build is so tanky I can literally stand in one spot and take atziri's worst I just pop a flask and she at best gets me down to half life...which I heal almost instantly (even with shock stack).

Right now as it stands I cast 15.1 times a sec dealing 6400 with herald of thunder on.

I further increase the damage 1st by 15% with burned enemies (from boots) (chance to burn is at 17%, but because is cast so many times a sec I almost burn in an instant if the monsters don't die first), then because HoT gives me a 10% chance to shock I gain another 50% increase to damage then the notable passive Celestial Punishment boosts it again another 25%

Fire Pen ---> 42%
ES ---> 6500 with CI
RES ---- fire 75 ---- cold 75 ---- lightning 76
Due to my armor negating 25% of elemental because I run CI its a little better to the equivalent of having 82% max res (83 for lightning) huge defense against elemental
Leech ---- 11% leech rate being 20% increase
Never get Stunned
Never get Frozen
No mana can be leeched from me so I cannot be stopped to cast incin.
I basically light up indoor maps due to increase in light radius which is actually a nice luxury I rather enjoy alot
(I tried running a low life shavs build and realized I hated not seeing anything in indoor maps)

This build I feel is incredibly tanky, I basically just tp into mobs and mow them down with no loss to my ES

I also run AA at lvl 20 with no issues and can cast incin forever and I reach the edge of the screen with my projectiles. If I feel like I can set up my boots or gloves to allow me to swap the aura for max res depending on which boss I go up against. But really not necessary I pop a flask which last me as long as I need before I kill the bosses anyways.

Let me know what you guys think. I'd be interested to see how your particular set up is doing.

@gtrans: Oh don't worry, I plan to make this guide adaptable, the tree for new players will include a guide to transform their first tree into a stronger one, including stuff like how to find items on PoE.xyz etc.

Don't forget that this game has a steep learning curve. Getting to high levels already takes quite a while, and if players find out they have to use external sources to trade comfortably, it will only overwhelm them. The key to learning something is to do it in steps. That is simply how the human mind works. And in this game, the first step should be getting used to the game, learning the mechanics one by one, getting a feel for the game. Not trading, how to become rich, or how to maximize your gear. That is the next step. I believe that if a build can be successful without items, it can only be extremely strong with items.

But that is just how I see things though ;)

On another note, no MoM/EB/AA is going far better than expected. Currently solo'd most of the 66 - 69 bosses, all with relative ease(except for museum. Fuck that map).
I am a nice guy.

Hi Pew,

I'm back and using your build again, and I like the look of this one over the other one I played on the previous league.

The only thing I am noticing is the lack of life steal, the curse on hit is only getting applied via the HoT lightning strike (which only hits 1 target every second and only after you kill a monster that is shocked) So I am debating on removing the curse on hit and casting it manually (probably this), or trying to fit life steal on my incinerate attack

Otherwise its looking very good for me atm (lvl 52)

I had a bit of a weak spot around 40-45 where i died a lot, but now everything dies so fast not many things can hit me.
Piety in the catacombs was on 0 hp and teleporting away before she even cast one spell on me :D
This build could work just as well with a Templar or a Scion, couldn't it?

This does not work. HoT wont transfer CoH-curses to the Incinerate. Or did i misunderstood some fundamental part of this build? :D

Yup, the point is that when you shock enemies with Incinerate, you proc HoT which will then proc curses.

And the key is that the only way that the lightning damage added to Incinerate by HoT is sufficient to shock is via the Celestial Punishment + Elementalist notables, which gives each hit 10% chance to shock. Since Incinerate hits so fast, this still happens a LOT, despite the low sounding percentage.

With three dragons fire damage can shock instead. Seems like a better option. Can skip the templar are altogether and pick up fire/spell damage and more ignite chance in witch area.

Just an idea.

Still doesn't help the fact that only 1 monster gets cursed per second, and only after your kill one that is shocked. The curse wont get cast on bosses if you don't have the buff from killing a shocked monster on you when you fight them - and it only lasts a few seconds if you do.
I had life leach problems too, but I solved this by socketing life leach gem on my incinerate 5-link. Only problem now are those massive physical hits that tend to 1-shot me on maps 70 and higher. I got 2800hp at the moment, dunno if thats way too low or..?

That does look rather interesting, but it's so different from Pew's build that I think you ought to post it in its own thread (feel free to link to it).

Given our lack of armour, 2800 life is too low for 70+ maps.
