god this build is just awful and i truly hope no one does this garbage.
first off it wont work in hardcore or any high level maps. using fork/chain with LMP or GMP is completely stupid. this build is just way too risky regardless, i mean you almost died to brutus in one of your vids and that just shouldnt happen as a witch, my fire build kills him in 3-4 seconds and i dont even see him on my screen when he dies, i dont have to run beside him to do damage. ive solo'd every map ive done (up to a level 73 map) and can clear them within 10 minutes, and that just wouldnt happen with this molten shell crap if anyone wants to play a fire spec that isn't complete trash and actually works for soloing maps unlike like this one send me a PM IGN: Leupacob, Cobberts check out my shop--> http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/162312/page/1 Last edited by lupacob on Feb 21, 2013, 7:16:01 PM

This isn't really working out for me at level 66, with a 5l searing touch and decent if not good gear, I have 2.3k hp capped resists, 1300 mana, doesnt, anything I can do to improve?

so after getting about 20 different PMs from people wanting to know my solo fire spec ill post my build/talents/support gems etc.
ill start off by saying im level 83 in softcore, however im basically playing my build like a hardcore build, because dying at this level and losing hours and hours of farming kinda sucks... I havent died in quite a while but i imagine its not too fun. ill list the things i dont like about OP's build: -molten shell is way too risky -linking fireball to fork/chain is dumb -a few parts of his spec are kind of wierd, ie taking increased aura effectiveness takents and increased radius damage etc. sure his build will work if you want to farm act 3 (can this build even farm docks effectively? probably not) but if you want to effectively farm maps solo you might want to consider going a different spec/talent route. My build is pretty similar to OPs, however im at 78% resist to everything and i take just about every health node i can effectively get to, so i have over 4700 health (with a better chest it would be closer to 4900) ive solo'd maps up to level 73 (highest level map ive seen) and my level 83 build:

if you want to ask me a question about my spec or have any way of optimizing it more let me know. auras i run: purity, clarity, grace, haste, discipline and sometimes wrath if i group with friends a few points about wrath: - it doesn't affect your spells, only your minions/other players. - if you are soloing maps and you get an "elementium equibrium" affix, your minions will hit the mobs with lightning making them weak to your fire spells - i end up killing stuff before my minions get to them anyways so wrath doesnt do me much good damage wise im using spell totem linked with skeletons for tanking/distracting mobs, i only have one point for improving my minions (beginning of tree) however my skeles have close to 4k health, and they keep spawning so their low health isnt really an issue, they also explode when they get to low health which helps with dmg abit too. main curse i use: flammability if i didnt solo maps i would probably link spell totem to fireball+GMP or screw around with flame totem, however if you want to solo maps i feel like you need to use summon skeleton + spell totem. my main nuke is fireball tied to GMP, increased cast speed and increased crit chance and crit damage im sitting at 30% crit chance and about 450% increased crit damage, and i dont have a single piece of gear that has increased crit chance/dmg. with this setup every fireball i shoot out has 3100 effective dps, keep in mind im shooting out 5 of them so im basically doing 15500 dps with fireball not including the damage of my skeles/zombies and spectre. how i run maps is i basically run ahead, when i see mobs i double back, drop a skele totem, drop flammability on the mobs, and just start spamming fireball. If my fireball crits, it will 1 shot any white mob, and can 1-3 shot shot rare (blue) mobs, and i can generally kill bosses in higher level maps in a few seconds, especially if i get close to them (with skeles up and zombies i have like 15 pets running around so the boss rarely targets me) if you want to be super cautious you can drop spell totem ahead of you and just keep doing that until you run into mobs, but i usually dont do that unless i know that im going to run into a bunch of fire/chaos bombers i cant really think of anything else to add... im not telling you to use my spec/talents w/e, however ive been using it forever and i havent really come up with any troubles soloing maps so far, the only time i had trouble was a level 71 map that i used an alc on and got a bunch of shitty affixes on it like mobs having multiple projectiles..fire bombers everywhere and me having temporal chains and a bunch of garbage like that a few things i dont like about fire: - doesnt really have too many skills you use, so it can get boring after a while - doesnt have as much utility compared to a frost spec if you have any suggestions for my build, let me know IGN: Leupacob, Cobberts

" If you mean Inner Force, it doesn't increase aura effectiveness, it increases buff effects on you, which also includes buffs from auras. Your auras stay the same in the tooltip, but when you have - for example - purity at lvl 20 you get 27 allres and 4 to maxres, with Inner Force (and the 2 little nodes to get it) you get 30% increase leading to 35 allres and 5 maxres. The more auras you use, the better it gets and if you are in a group where everyone has auras it's just too good to not get it. The radius dmg is only good for a group of mobs, since the explosion from fireball doesn't hit the mob it explodes on, but all the targets around it. It increases the damage by a bit against a group of mobs, but I find it to be unreliable and not really useful. |

I'm sorry you're unable to play this spec, as I've said before I've already cleared 72 maps with ease. 10 Minutes a Map is also a pretty long time. Please don't go on other peoples threads, bash them for no reason, then flaunt your guides up for obvious publicity Inner Force is an INSANE Passive. If you plan on running multiple auras that are % based, why would you not take it? Using a Summon Skelly Totem for Every Pack of Mobs is what thew me away from the game, People don't want generic builds, They want creative. As I've stated before, Fire isn't the best element, or anywhere near the best solo spec. However, it's different and it works Your build is literally the same thing, aside from you picking up more HP nodes and you're using Totems, My guide is what you call a Template Sir. If you feel so confident about your build, Please go make a Thread on it just as everyone else would. Just make sure you add in the title " Uses Summon Skelly Totem " How does this build not work endgame if I've already stated it can clear 72 maps with ease, It also works great for parties and can be morpged into whatever you would like, Curser, Summoner, Dual totem, whatever you would like. Don't waste your breath lupacob. I tried earlier in the thread to warn people that the spec was awful at end game but people love living in denial. Glad to see more people posting why it's so bad at end game and hopefully this will deter other people from wasting their time. The OP continues to claime he was clearing 72 maps with ease and yet never posted a single video of him doing it...shocking. I'm sure his excuse will be that he left the game (which begs the question why he keeps posting in this thread and misleading people) but anyone with a shred of common sense will know better.
Oh and if you have to completely change the spec at end game to make it work, it's not a "template", it's misinformation. Especially since there is ZERO mention in the original post that this build will suck later on and ZERO video proof to suggest otherwise. |
