Lightning Coil is nerfed in 1.3 but still quite good, especially combined with Abyssus. But if you are quite new atm I don't recommend 5l it. The cost of 6 socketing it alone is pretty high. And keep in mind that our ideal situation is to mitigate physical damage through immortal call, instead of getting hit and reduce it through lightning coil. What i would rather do is to purchase a belly and 4l it first with SS-WED-Physical to Lightning-Multistrike.
For the mana issue, I do not recommend getting mana on gear. +max mana will work at really low efficiency if you are almost reserving all of your mana. I suggest you run a seperate Warlords Mark, link it with blood magic if possible, and use a Hallowed Hybrid Flask.

With quite new I actually ment that I've been playing a couple of months, got really lucky with drops though and the currency is not really an issue. Alreay got 6 sockets on the lightning coil and I'm trying to link it now. I really want to see how good it is to help understand the defence mechanics in this game. I will also try a belly, I can always use it on any other character. My wander already has a 5-link carcass jack and I am going to test that too. After all that's the fun of the game.

Thank you very much for your help and once more, I love the build!

Hi, i got a thing i cannot get my head wrapped around.
I'm currently running a static templar, i got static strike+physical to lighting+elemental damage gems static strike tooltip shows all lighting dmg but one thing that i cannot understand: will lighting/elemental damage nodes upgrade this damage? Or i have got to have some original lighning damage?
Love the build, I'm trying out a version myself. Currently using a 2-handed axe, level 49 on Act 3 Cruel. The part I don't understand is, as I understand Curse on Hit, your four-socket setup with CoH, Warlord's Mark, Assassin's Mark, and Herald of Thunder wouldn't do anything, since it's not linked to an attack. Am I wrong on this?

The way the HoT setup works is that when you kill a shocked enemy, you get an effect that creates lightning bolts that strikes enemies around you for a bit and those lightning strikes apply the curses to enemies that it hits.
Brilliant! Thanks for the clarification. I knew there had to be something I was missing.
Currently working on a Firestorm project since I linked my Pledge of Hands. Updated my gear @lv 89.
2.0 ain't no melee patch.
i'm interested on your firestorm build, mind linking your passive and gear for it.

EDIT: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1194001 up.

Just wanted to say thank you.

It's an awesome build idea and a lot of fun to see everything burst.

I'm sitting at lvl 78, started with scion though because I already have a templar.

4,2k hp, 30,5k tooltip dps & 89% hit chance.

For all people worrying about abyssus, just by having 5 endurance charges + armor from eq + armor flask(s) (roll +1 charge on crit + 9x% increased armor or something close to that) I'm sitting at 78% phys dam reduce. So in most maps below 75 and without crazy rolls like plus damage bone rhoas etc. you wont even need the immortal call.

Also curse immune packs are no problem mana wise you just burst them long before you run out or kill one cursed mob that doesn't belong to the pack.

No curse maps are somewhat annoying. Though you can do them easily with a simple mana (+1 charge on crit again is your friend for perma flasking) flask.

One thing though I think using lightning coil is a huge mistake. After all immortal call makes you phys immune, why the hell would you like to convert incoming phys damage to lightning so that it can bypass your immunity ?

Belly of the beast for survivability or carcass jack for a bigger burst radius are the better options. I personally think belly is better because the often over looked 50% improved life recovery rate goes so freaking well with the eternal life flasks. Depending on the flask roll it's like 2k hp in 1 sec so it's super fast when you really need it. Also it just gives a big load of life ~~

I noticed that you have Death's Oath as a suggestion for the chest slot.
Is this really a good idea? The Leech from it is only for physical damage, and the Chaos damage debuff seems to be pretty dangerous. Wouldn't this chest just result in suicide?
