Great guide, really loving the build. It's been able to do the map mods none of my other builds could handle.
I'm actually playing a facebreaker version of the build instead of using Doryani's Catalyst or Soul Taker, which is a great option if you don't want to shell out tons of exalts for those two weapons. I can achieve an easy 21k total dps on my Cyclone with Increased AoE and 36k dps with Concentrated Effect using 895% legacy Facebreakers, but you really don't need legacy Facebreakers to have fine clear. Honestly, from running 73-75 maps I've never felt the need to use Conc Effect for nice clearing, and bosses get wrecked in around 5 seconds or less. I think the standout for the facebreaker variant of the build is its ridiculous reckoning counterattack. Because of facebreaker's high base damage, all of my counterattacks hit extra hard, and my reckoning (supported with melee phys, conc effect, and increased aoe) does about 10k damage per cast. Riposte and vengeance deal 5k and 7k damage respectively, although I mainly use them with Endurance charge on melee stun to help build up endurance charges and stun enemies. I'm pretty much running the same tree as Assassin minus the mace nodes. The downside to having cheaper gearing is lower overall defenses. You lose control over your gloves and belt, making it extremely hard to overcap your resistances. The only two pieces of gear that you have freedom over are your two rings, which should both have high flat phys if you want to deal high damage. Mine are far from perfect (they could use a lot more life), but I still survive fairly well. My Gear:

A fun little caveat you can take advantage of: if you equip your chestplate before putting on your BoR, then put on your BoR, you can still wear the chestplate (and get its visual effect) for extra swag. Voll's protector was the first chestplate whose visual I liked, plus the gems in it get experience (even though you can't use them). " I was actually seriously considering making a facebreaker build when I was putting this together, since I also have legacy facebreakers. The problem though was just how much more difficult it would be to gear for it, i.e. Meginord's Girdle, phys damage on rings, missing phys damage on ammy because of Stone of Lazwar. I'd be very interested to see your gear though and your dps is really solid :-) |

Gear is now linked below original post. Far from perfect but it suffices.

" Nice rings, but even then I struggle to see how to cap resistances. Did you spend a lot of points on res? Despite that, I definitely want to try it out. EDIT: Forgot to add the other downside of facebreakers: 3 gem slots lost :( For me, this is losing a CWDT setup (not too essential) which is slightly annoying, but OK> Last edited by Assassin2000#7408 on Jan 3, 2015, 7:05:35 AM

Everybody is posting nice dps numbers, but since this was originially supposed to be a super - tank build, I would be also interested in some def numbers(dmg reduction, hp). The facebreaker and cyclone variants look interesting, but i tried cyclone and i think that the higher dps comes with lot lower defense.
I wanted to make the build tankier for end game maps - at lvl 91 I have 50% reduction and 5,1k hp. (Static strike dps is 27,5 k). | |
hey folks, what auras are you running? Is herald of ice really worth it? gives me only 300 more dps.
edit: btw i got a voll's devotion. would i be able to use this somehow? edit2: hey guys, this is my first time with level 20 gems. I have level 20 added fire, level 20 reduced mana, and level 20 herald of ash. Should I GCP them? is it really worth 20% quality? please advise as I have never done the gcp gemming before. thank you! " I run Herald of Ash+Inc Burn on Catalyze and Herald of Thunder and Hatred. Don't underestimate the proliferated burn from HoA. Most of the time it clears out trash mobs before you get to them. HoT is a great passive pot breaker, and you could always attach Curse on Hit+elemental weakness/warlords/etc to it for free passive cursing. Voll's devotion doesn't really go with this build since you won't be generating power charges, and Stone of Laz is best for the huge spell block it provides. As for your gems, you could burn 60 GCPs to get 3 of them to 20% quality, or you could vendor 1 lvl 20 gem + 1 GCP to get the same gem lvl 1+20% quality. I find using the 20% quality vendor recipe better for saving currency. They level back up to ~16-17 quite fast. Last edited by TheHeroOfWraeclast#7542 on Jan 3, 2015, 11:57:02 AM
