These hacks do not look like a simple inattention players. To begin with, they all started at the same time - 07.02.2013. The probability that all cheat programs and all phishing sites belongs to the same person - is extremely low. The probability that different people coordinated attacks in the same day - even less.

The probability that all taken away the password in one day also hardly possible. Because at that time, as some people have half a day has passed, the other day has just begun and the only thing they did - it started the game client. So to get to the same phishing or cheat, they could not ...

This is fucking stupid as shit. Why wouldn't they get tons of passwords in one day? If they set up a phishing website on that day, they would get data as soon as people start logging into it. If they got a keylogger programmed, they would get as many people as they could trick to install it / install it for them.

All of your comments point to your extreme lack of knowledge on the subject. I'm not surprised in the least that you got hacked. You act like someone who knows next to nothing about security.

1) Of all the hacks, there are people who have not visited any site associated with PoE, but this forum. These people were not hacked phishing.
2) There are people who visit the site, but did not put any software. These people were not compromised by the program.
3) There are people who do anything connected with PoE on the Internet did not open, and from programs run only Client.exe. (eg I am and person from 2-3 page of this topic). These people were not hacked phishing and not a third-party program.

Do you think people have been broken in three different ways by the same person in the same day? Unlikely. Far more likely that hacking is not on the client side and the server side or on or intercept data on the channel. In this case, all write in the topic that people can be broken - like the ones used by third party websites and software, as well as those that run only client.

So that might begin to think for yourselves, and not to assess mental capacity of others, do not know about them? Although not. But why would you think. You believe that everything except you - idiots ...

1) I've seen two phishing attempts on the forums in the last 3 days already.
2) When you get virus or something of the sort, you generally don't know about it otherwise you wouldn't install it. Saying you don't have a virus is POINTLESS because if you knew about it, it wouldn't affect you. Also, because you don't know anything about virus / spyware protection, let me give you a little lesson - If it's a new virus, keylogger, or something of the sort, your protection very well might not catch it. Virus protection needs definition updates constantly to keep up with virus's that are widespread. You don't seriously expect they would be up to date with something for a game that only has up to 70k concurrent users.
3) If you were hacking you wouldn't admit it. If you were phished you wouldn't know it. This comment is pointless.

You don't have to all be hacked by the same person. I promise you there are more than a few people trying to steal accounts out there.

You may think I'm an idiot for calling you out, but the proof is in the pudding. I have my account, while you lost everything on yours. No matter what you say, I win.
Desmont almost certainly got phished. Being linux, odds are it wasn't a keylogger. Downloading and using a maphack would be a bit trickier on linux, certainly. But being fooled into thinking you're on the PoE website and need to log in isn't something to be ashamed of.

The entire top 20 got a phishing PM in closed beta, I caught it right away (within 20 minutes of the PM being sent) and replied to all of them that it was a scam (IT + programming background, I'm pretty good at recognizing foul play). One user PMed me back saying they fell for it and immediately changed their password(s). This is almost certainly how your password was lost.

The whole idea of phishing is to make you believe that you are on the PoE website. You almost certainly put your email and password in on one of these sites not even realizing you did it, which is why you're so convinced it didn't happen.

Also, I'd like the Steam security. Basically any time you try to log in on a new system you have to confirm that system with a code that is sent to your email. If your email address has a different password, it's very hard to hack.

Granted, the forum were phishing attempts. But what about those who have an account a couple of days and that did not go to the forum?

I agree that it is impossible to identify new viruses as they are not in the database. I also agree that the infected person is usually not aware of the infection. But what about those who did not put any sort of third-party programs from the registration game account?

And also what about the Linux-user (me), that there is no need to put programs from elsewhere? There is a central repository of software and all of the programs put a simple command in the console: sudo pacman-S [Program_name]. Doubt if there will be a virus to steal passwords from PoE. Probability, of course. But it is very small.

Maybe. But i don't get any PMs on this account. Do not even go to the forum for these account until it was hacked. For the forum I have an old account with Close Beta. getsby86. There are some PMs, but they do not contain any links. At the forum, I login using getsby86 account. And the forum, in fact, do not even read it, just looked at the tree of skills and write topic about low fps. But my old account (getsby86) is not compromised, although there is as leveled and dressed character. And this account (Desmont) is only six days after creation.

However, 06.02 and 05.02 I have played with both accounts (produces desired auras gems from quests). but 07.02 I have only used this account (second account have not had the time to start befor hacking). And it was only Desmont account hacked. And all I managed to do 07.02 - is to wake up, start the game and about 1 hour's play. And then - has been hacked. The old account (getsby86) is safe. Probably a coincidence. And maybe not.

GGG's official stance on a player's items being stolen is simply "Get fucked"

Well, it is the players fault for not securing their shit. Also, the second they start restoring items, is the second people start using getting "hacked" as a method to duplicate items. I'm okay with idiots not keeping their gear to keep the economy running strong.
