Velvet's elemental buzzsaw {crit} ~ Atziri deathless/map clearing 1.3 Updated!

Hi SFX, I just began playing this game and I want to try your build in the 1week race. May I ask why you didn't use hatred aura? Sorry it's just when I look at other builds it is the most common aura used. I also check the quest rewards and the first auras to be available are hatred and clarity. And which is better herald of ash or ice? Thanks!

Hey there! There's a simple answer to your question: my build and all the other elemental buzzsaw builds out there have close to no physical damage. So using auras that scale off of it is a waste. The very same thing applies to herald of ash (when it strictly comes to the added damage). So for my build, herald of ice is clearly superior to herald of ash.

The only question that can arise is if herald of ice is better than herald of thunder? Both apply flat extra elemental damage and interesting effects. HoT should outperform HoI in terms of raw DPS but I like the freeze/shatter effect because it is a huge defensive plus. So HoI for me please ;)

I hope this clarified the issue :)

Note: although I advertise my build and builds similar to mine [there are many out there actually... I am not so unique after all :-(( ] I will admit its weaknesses. The main purpose for me was to smash end-game content with a limited budget. So Atziri and 78 maps are a breeze.

BUT I must say the build is not outstanding at lower levels. Why? First of all you need at least level 64 to get all the auras running and at that stage you skill tree is very stretched. Check my leveling guide to see exactly what I mean. All the juicy HP and crit nodes you should take after that. So the build truly shines only after level 75 or so (and I would consider it complete at around 85-90).

The conclusion is that I cannot advertise my build for race events. It would bring me great joy if you tried it out (I would really be curious how it would go) but there are probably other, more efficient options out there. In the end, the choice is completely yours :)
The starting levels for this buid IS A PAIN! Not for newbie!

I'm level 47 and my ST is doing only 300++ dps with wrath + clarity + reduce mana.

Total mana left 70++ i am able to spam a 4L ST.

Damage is too low and is a pain in cruel act 3.

I'm tried using Ungil's Gauche boot knife and mightflay NO USE.

IN THE END I HAVE TO USE FLAMEBLAST till i get the aura nodes and get hp, crit, wed.

Now wait a second :D I can say the build is not very string in early stages but I have the feeling something is wrong here.

First off, you need wrath and anger together else you are missing on a big chunk of damage. And you shouldn't use clarity at very low levels and rely instead on blood magic. I would advise using a setup like this for now: ST -> LMP -> BM -> Leech.

Second, both the uniques you mentioned are bad for the purpose of this builds. You will probably be better off using a white stiletto/poignard/ambusher. There is no exceptional unique for this build so you will have to just wing it.

Third, there is a little trick at lower levels that helps you overcome most bosses. You can use another 4L in your boots or helm for double strike (DS -> Faster attacks/Multistrike -> BM -> Leech). It's an oldschool way to supplement your offensive capabilities, but it works.

In principle with this BM -> Leech setup for your 2 attacks you have the tools to clear packs quick while still having the option of going melee for huge single target damage (in case of very tough bosses/rares etc). I personally leveled my char using ST as a main attack from level 1 to 90(even 91 now). So it can be done. I told everyone before that the build does indeed shine at later levels but it doesn't mean it's handicapped at lower ones. With a bit of preparation it can all work out.

I hope this helps! Good luck out there.
Note on my previous post:

Alternatively you can go for resolute technique early since your crits are not strong at low levels. Look at this skill tree with 40 points:

First go for the aura nodes on the right side of the tree (16 pcts), then rush resolute technique (30 points). Next go for the 'Sovereignty' cluster up north (for a total of 40 pcts). You will have to use 1 regret for the Resolute technique but that's about it.

It's just another idea, feel free to try it out.

Thanks for being informative. Guess I have to wait for the new league this December to try out this build :) I'll just find other suitable early game builds for 1week race in the meantime. Anyways I only want to be eligible for the stash prize.

Im using a Brightbeak since lvl 20, 1.95 Attack speed and 6.25% Crit.
It's a hammer though so i can't use whirling blades right now but no biggie.

Im using Clarity, Anger, Wrath, HoT and HoI. Sitting on roughly 1600 dps atm at lvl 54 and i feel it's more then enough to progress right now.
new upgrades + legacy saffels and had this amazing evasion shield, decided not to waste 70+ regrets and w8 for 12 for points reset. Also should i run HoT instead of HoI?What do you think SFX am i prepared for atziry run already + some advices if i am ready for her :)

HoT will give you more deeps than HoI, specially if it has quality since the increased lightning damage will also apply to Wrath. HoI will chill/freeze/shatter enemies so it adds a bit of survivability and makes necromancers/detonate dead things harmless. Your call, since I don't think the dps difference is big enough to make either herald a winner.

On a different topic: the provisional 1.3 tree made me cry. There's still hope for changes I guess (not really). We'll have to wait and see anyway!
Why do you not run Vaal Pact?
