Incinerate Witch, AA, MoM, Max block/spellblock build 65k+ DPS, Atziri proven [1.2 UPDATED]

Welcome to my 1.2 Incinerate witch build guide!

Hello guys, My name is Minionserop, and welcome to my first PoE build guide, with my 1.2 take on the incinerate Witch!
First of all, this build is not exlusive for the Witch, it can be made to work by other classes aswell, most notably the Scion, but the Templar and Shadow classes are also able to grab the notables and passives needed for this build to work.

The build is extremely versitile in the means of passive tree points and skills utilized. Neither does it require many particular items for it to work properly, although some are highly reccomended. As a result, this build is as cheap or expensive as you want it to be, with more power gained as you gain better items.

Here are some screenshots of my characters current defensive and offensive stats

DPS

*OUT OF DATE! Will update this part later, current dps is over 6000 tooltip*

Screenshot taken with no flasks up, With LMP.
Incinerate will gain 300% MORE spell damage for each stage when cast for a period of time, uninterrupted. Incinerate also shotguns if you stand close to your target, meaning if you have Lesser multiple projectiles, all 3 waves of fire will hit your target. therefore, 5481 with a 300% multiplier = 21924 DPS. if all 3 streams of fire hit the target, this number can be multiplied by 3 again. = 65500 DPS

Defence

Again, taken with no flasks or temporary buffs running. Both stun and freeze immunity, 75% block/73% spell block. A little over 4k Life 4.6k mana (1300 unreserved), and a lvl 26 AA + MoM

Gear

This build does require a few uniques to get started, most notably the

This item is the bread and butter of the build. It makes life leech unessesary, and it turns your block chance into spell damage. with 75% block chance, this item will give you 90% increased spell power, along with some additional cast speed, making it a great tool for a fast spell such as incinerate. it rewards you for building towards a tanky build by granting you damage from how tanky you are

The next required item is

This item is simply great for this build. Since we already want as high Block chance as possible, it is extremely helpfull to convert as much of that block chance into spell block as we can. Rathpith is just extremely benefitial to us. It has everything we need, spell block, spell damage, extra life, some resistance, and a fair amount of Energy shield, that we will turn into mana through Eldrich Battery.

Next comes the reccomended items. I have already explained that we need a lot of block with this build. this will help our alround defenses immensly, and become a big boost to our DPS. Wich brings me to The amulet. Amulets can be a great source of gaining additional block chance, due to their ability to be corrupted into gaining extra block chance. this can potentially save you a lot of passive points. There are several good Uniques that can be very benefitial to the build if they have block chance on them. The first and cheapest option is likely to be

The anvil is a good, cheap way to get 10% extra block chance, along with 3% max block chance, raising your block potential to 78%. the porblem with this is that it comes with two serious drawbacks. nr1: you loose cast speed. nr2: you loose movement speed. now, 20% may not seem like much, but compared to normal walking speed, it feels like walking in butter. I currently do not use The Anvil, I use a corrupted

This actually GRANTS me movement speed, rather than slowing me down, and it also allows me to free up the Faster Projectiles gems from my incinerate link.

More spell block, mana, and good resists. even movement speed! great item! And fairly cheap!

Now we start to get to the luxury items. items that will improve quality of life and make you more tanky, grant more mana, and just make life simpler.

Extra damage, good resitances, and a 1% life leech from fire damage, our main source of damage

Frost immunity! Mana! Mana regen! perfect! The price of this is pretty steep tho...

This need some Explaining. I use this item to gain 5 extra levels on my Arctic armor gem. This puts the gem at lvl 25, 26 even, if corrupted. meaning it blocks 319 flat physical or fire damage. compare that to the 189 of a standard lvl 20 arctic armor, and you can understand why it is extremely helpfull. this is a slightly more exspensive item tho

Saffels is a very good option against pure spellcasters, where you need the extra resistances. it will grant you extra max resists, and practically guarantee you max spell block

Your chestpiece will be wher eyou put your main skill. A 6 Link is of course preferable, but a 5 or 4 link will do if you cannot afford one

For the rest of the items, the helmet, chest and gloves, the formula for finding good items is very simple. This can also be applied to rings and boots if you cannot afford my reccomended items.
You want as much life as you can get. getting enough life from the passive tree is hard with this build without compromising a lot on block and mana/mana regen.
You Also want as much resistances as you can get your hands on. Putting yourself at the resist cap is practically mandatory in this game.
Lastly, you ideally want to get a lot of Energy shield. Energy shield will be converted into mana through the Eldrich Battery keystone on the passive tree. This will greatly help fuel incinerate and Arctic armor, wich are both insanely mana costy. Energy shield is not always the best option tho, because they can make it hard to get the colors you want on your sockets in that item. if you want a RRRR setup for Cwdt + endu cry + immortal call + inc duration, a pure ES item is going to be close to impossible to color that way.

Example:

This is my chestpiece, it has good ES, good health, some resistances and dexterity (this saves me a few points, because dexterity is something i sorely need)
As you see, it is also ES/Eva based, making it easier for me to roll the extra two green sockets that i use in my skill setup

And last but not least, the flasks

it is of EXTREME IMPORTANCE that you keep two life flasks with "removes bleeding" on them. I will get to the reason why in the playstyle section

Thats it for gear, i hope you got the basic idea of what to look for in gear!

Skill gems

*UPDATE! herald of thunder drastically outperforms hereald of ice when it comes to pure damage output. more testing will follow*

This is an incinerate build, so our main damage spell will of course be

Incinerate is an extremely fast casting spell, wich makes it ideal to use with Cybils Paw. This results in a lot of health gained each second. Another side effect of incinerates fast cast speed is that flat + damage modiefiers are very powerfull, even at 30% effectiveness. i think this is actually a slip up from GGGs side, since adding the spell echo gem, they made incinerate close to twice as fast, and thereby also doubling the effectiveness of any flat damage modyfiers such as added chaos damage. but that might just be me. anyway, this skill has some benefits and some drawbacks. the good thing is that it will pierce all enemies, always, meaning you dont need a chain, pierce or fork support gem to deal damage to large packs. it also quadruples its damage over time if you channel it uninterrupted for a few seconds. This is unfortunately one of its drawbacks aswell. because you need to stand still and channel to get the most damage out of the spell, it also means you are "locked" in one place, leaving you as a sitting duck for mobs. I love the thought behind this though. stay still, and deal extreme amounts of damage by putting yourself in harms way, or run, kite, and peel your enemies, but loose out on a lot of potential damage. Another drawback is its short projectile length. you need to get up close and personal to even hit your enemy.

When it comes to supporting incinerate, there is one gem that wins out over every other gem:

The flat damage added by this gem will massively boost your dps, due to the cast speed of incinerate

Next in line is

it has a massive cast speed multyplier, with only a 10% spell damage nerf. It will also boost your added chaos damage even more.

basically the same function as echo, just slightly less powerfull

One of theese is needed. GMP will help you clear maps and zones faster, but LMP is the best for single target. if you stand close enough to a target while using LMP, you can shotgun all 3 jets from incinerate on that target, giving you a huge damage boost. GMP has too wide of a spread to do this, and will loose out to LMP on single target, unless all 5 jets hit the target (something that requires a HUGE mob with a HUGE hitbox. unlikely scenario)

Very helpfull for adding range to incinerate, and a bit of damage aswell.

All of the above are great choices when it comes to adding aditional damage to your spell. Pure dps wise, Added lightning wins out, and with quality, it can shock your target, making them take 50 more damage. Added cold is right behind added lightning, only quality on this gem lets you freeze your enemies. Fire pen will add the least damage to your spell of the three, but it will win out if a target has more than 70% elemental resistances. and to be fair, most bosses in this game do. Personally i prefer the added cold one. Just to slow my enemies down, making them less of a threat.

Other notable support gems:

Knockback will permanently push your enemies away from you due to incinerates cast speed. But it will also decrease your dps, due to the fact that if you push them away, you wont be able to shotgun them with incinerate. Blind will pretty much give you 100% uptime on blind on enemies, making them 50% less likely to hit you. add that to your 75% block chance, and physical damage is a breeze. Culling.... well, cause, culling!

for auras and buffs, you would want to use 5 auras/buffs on you to gain DPS and survivability. Theese are:

Herald and Haste are Purely for DPS purposes. They both add a lot of damage. Tempest shield and arctic armor are use for defence. Clarity will increase your mana regen by a huge amount, helping to fuel incinerate, AA and MoM. Haste is optional, if you feel like your dps is already high enough, or if you feel your mana/eva(/armor if you choose to go Iron reflexes) Then this can be swapped out with Discipline or Grace respectively.
You will want atleast 3 of your auras linked with a

This should preferably be of fairly high level. the 4th buff that reserves mana (prferably clarity, tempest shield, or herald) does not need to be linked with a reduced mana. you can for instance instead link Tempest shield with Culling + Blind for increased defence, but oly if you have a lot of mana left over after turning on all your auras! you need some mana as a buffer for MoM, i'd say minimum 700 unreserved mana.

Then, in a 3 link, you want

Mobility is key in this game. Lightning warp can help you with that.

The last Gem setups can be whatever you would like it to be, but i would highly reccomend using at least one setup involving

Personally, the last gem setup i use in my spare 4 link is

This allows me to get a large amount of leech in a time of need.

Passive Skill Tree

When you start working on this skill tree, you start to realize how versitile the build is. this build kinda needs a little of everything, so if you see that you have for instance more than enough dex on your gear, you are free to spend those points elsewhere. the same goes for block, life, mana/mana regen, etc.

40-100 passive skill breakdown

20 points: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMA34rpAv6zVyu9gm0ZCPTAVLzqakNrF5UgwfOCHtsLoqN_xhGWBx6VLg==

A simple start, rush for EB and grab mana/life nodes

40 points: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMA34rpAv6zVyu9gm0ZCPTAVLzqakNrF5UgwfOCHtsLoqN_xhGWBx6VLvDVSVEc3JMn74j5N9fPSbEtH0yzKw1CS4XF374EB4PbVcbr5F8qOlg=

Keep grabbing life and mana nodes. at this point you can probably start with incinerate, you should be able to sustain it. you can also grab some block nodes for defence

60 points: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMA34rpAv6zVyu9gm0ZCPTAVLzqakNrF5UgwfOCHtsLoqN_xhGWBx6VLvDVSVEc3JMn74j5N9fPSbEtH0yzKw1CS4XF374EB4PbVcbr5F8qOlgfAjbF2CSnCI9GHRT60hcvZOdV1oCkNunjan7igFZPfVFgqZW4k-vu

Some more block nodes, life nodes, and aura nodes. you should be able to use atleast clarity and one other aura now. if you need dex/str, there are several big nodes that we already have passed to help you with this.

80 points: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMA34rpAv6zVyu9gm0ZCPTAVLzqakNrF5UgwfOCHtsLoqN_xhGWBx6VLvDVSVEc3JMn74j5N9fPSbEtH0yzKw1CS4XF374EB4PbVcbr5F8qOlgfAjbF2CSnCI9GHRT60hcvZOdV1oCkNunjan7igFZPfVFgqZW4k-vumuBFnVNSKPqCx_noQYe3Pv4K2L01krXyqW54DVivNug6Ug48n8tkow==

Now we start to head down for stun immunity and MoM. grab some life and mana regen nodes along the way.

100 points: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMA34rpAv6zVyu9gm0ZCPTAVLzqakNrF5UgwfOCHtsLoqN_xhGWBx6VLvDVSVEc3JMn74j5N9fPSbEtH0yzKw1CS4XF374EB4PbVcbr5F8qOlgfAjbF2CSnCI9GHRT60hcvZOdV1oCkNunjan7igFZPfVFgqZW4k-vumuBFnVNSKPqCx_noQYe3Pv4K2L01krXyqW54DVivNug6Ug48n8tkoxpVecAGOe7Z3B1hIYTvXhPDhueRrK8y0UVHJ2EG6fO-dO1672BLBS0=

We grab a lot of block nodes now, to help us get more damage and more survivability. When closing in on lvl 80, We really start mapping, so we need the block to survive. farming lunaris up uintill now is a safe and preferable aproach. keep in mind that at this point, your gear may look like pretty much everything, if you have a lot of life and/or the anvil, then you dont need to soak as many points into block/life as i have here. This far, i have not grabbed the MoM keystone. you can opt to do this if you already have enough block/life. This leveling guide is based on only cybils as a unique, and a random variety of rares. If you have better gear than that, your tree may look very differently from this one at level 80

We grab as much life, block, mana and ES as we can get. very few damage nodes are needed, the raw base damage of incinerate will be enough. We grab stun immunity, Eldrich battery, and Mind over matter. as you perhaps noticed, we are also very close to the Iron Reflexes keystone. it is possible to grab this if you want to sacrifice something else. we also have another very good selection of nodes to grab, depending on our needs and our current gear. if we want life, we have the scion life nodes. if we want damage, we have a variety of spell damage, elemental damage and cast speed nodes very close up in the witch area of the tree. we also pass by severa big nodes of Dex/str/int, if we need it. this tree is developed with a 4% block corrupted amulet in mind. if you have The anvil, you can skip some of the block nodes and grab something more usefull to you. The scion can for instance Grab the block nodes under her starting point instead of some of the other ones, and she has several ways to leave her starting area depending on her needs. you can come throu the spell damage, the mana, the resistances, or pretty much any direction you want/need

When leveling this build, i reccomend leveling as any spell you want that is not extremely costly, like Fireball. on the passive tree, aim to grab as much life nodes as possible in the start. Cybils paw has a very low lvl requirement, so once you get it, you can start to grab some of the block nodes to gain damage/defence. at this point, you should also be able to close in on Eldrich Battery, meaning you can swap to incinerate once your mana/mana regen is sufficient. from there, the build is very versitile, just go for whatever you feel that you need the most at any given time, wether it be mana, life, block, or even damage

Playstyle

The playstyle of this build does not feel like much else. you are rooted in place while doing your damage, and the longer you stay there, and the closer you stay to your enemy, the more damage you will do. This also puts you right in the middle of the enemy line of fire. this is where arctic armor, MoM, max block, and extreme leech comes to play. you are probably more tanky than most people are in the face of big bad enemies. your 73% spell block makes sure that bosses others consider extremely dangerous, like Piety, are a breeze for you. you can stand in her face and eat her ball lightning all day. when facing a pack of mobs, you will leach several thousands of life every second. Any small hitters will never be able to touch you due to arctic armor.

But all this does not make you immortal. even with 3 endu charges up, our physical defence against very hard hitting bosses are poor. they will only hit us 1 in every 4 strikes on average, but when they hit, you are gonna feel it. this is where stun immunity comes to play. you can quickly zap away from harms way with lightning warp if you at any point drop low on health. since we cannot be stunned or frozen, this escape is always ready. Arctic armor might not help much with reducing damage from a large hitting boss like Kole, but it will help you escape, by leaving an icy path, slowing down anyone that is chacing you. but large hitters are not the biggest threat to this build, they are often slow, and easily avoided. Reflect is neither an issue, arctic armor makes you practically immune to reflect. Spell block takes care of lightning thorns.

but the real danger of this build is mobs with the mod "corrupting blood"

Corrupting blood leaves a dot on you every time you hit the carrier of the buff(debuff?). it stacks up if you hit the mob consecutive times, dealing more and more damage. and this is bad news for us. Since we hit a mob up to 40 times every second, depending on if we shotgun or not, this buff stacks up INSANELY quickly. it is IMPERRATIVE that you keep 2 life flasks with the "removes bleeding" mod. And if you are not quick enough to use them, you will kill yourself, sometimes even in less than a second. For real, watch out for theese mobs!

I'm thinking about building an incinerate witch like this, thanks for the well detailed guide.

"
We grab as much life, block, mana and ES as we can get. very few damage nodes are needed, the raw base damage of incinerate will be enough. We grab stun immunity, Eldrich battery, and Mind over matter. as you perhaps noticed, we are also very close to the Iron will keystone. it is possible to grab this if you want to sacrifice something else.

You are confusing the Iron Will support gem with the Iron Grip Keystone. Unfortunately Iron Grip applies Str Physical Damage bonus to projectile attacks, not spell damage or projectile damage.
Thank you for the feedback! this is a typo from me, i actually ment neither of stose skills, i ment the Iron Reflexes keystone, turning your eva into armor. this is a great way to get more physical mitigation if you find yourself with a lot of spare eva, or if you run the grace aura instead of the haste aura!
hiya interesting build, I do have one questions though is Stone of lahzwar anygood?
yes, although you would want a corrupted 4% block version, and they can be extremely expensive. And with rathpith shield + Rainbowstride boots + the 8% spell block talent point, you will already have like 95% of your block as spell block (in my case i have 75% block and 73% spell block), so it will be just a waste of stats. if you did get stone of lazhwar tho, you could loose eighter the Rathpith, for a better shield with more health, spell damage and ES, or you could drop the Rainbowstrides and the 2 talent points required to get the 8% spell block from passives. This mean you can get life aswell on your boots, possibly more ES and resist, and have 2 Extra talent points to spend. so you have to consider it a trade of =) if you do have insane amount of money you would like to spend, yes lazwar is a good option because you can free up eighter your shield or your boots for an insane item, and you get 2 extra talent points.

Edit: What i was trying to say was Yes, its good if you have the ability to spend insane amounts of currency for a tiny, tiny spike in power.

Hey there i am new to the game but you build looks cool so i wanted to try!
Can you please break down the skill tree for leveling? like 20-40-60 points? to make leveling easier? i would like to play with it in Beyond. Do you think its viable?

I have not tried it in beyond yet, so that is something i cannot answer you. my best guess is yes, at the expence of damage to gain some defence. it will have to be tweaked a bit, but i think it would work.

as for breakdown of talent trees, this is more tricky. i can do my best, but keep in mind that the talent tree is very versitile while leveling. you change gear so often that your needs vary all the time, meaning that any 20-40-60 point tree i make for you could have way more or way less of any stat that you currently need. if your gear has a lot of life, you dont need as much on the talent tree. if your gear has a lot of mana regen or ES, you wont need as much mana/mana regen from the passive tree.

nevertheless, i will start to write a 40-60-80-100 passive tree breakdown, look for it in the post!
Would you consider putting an empower lvl 3 gem in 1 of the 6 links sockets? and instead of using the cybil's use the doryani sceptre? Thanks
I have tried the lvl 3 Empower gem, and all of the listed support gems will give your Incinerate more dps than a lvl 3 Empower. a lvl 4 empower however, will give you more dps than your added cold support gem

Doriyanis will give slightly more spell damage, but far less leech. 1 tick from incinerate will deal aproximately 200 elemental damage and 50 chaos damage with decent gear. doriyanis only leeches from elemental damage, and only leeches 1%. so you end up getting 2 hp for every enemy hit by incinerate. wheras cybils gives you 6 to 8 life gained for each enemy hit. and cybils leech is instant. Also, without cybils paw, half of the reason to get block is gone, meaning you can probably find more efficient ways of keeping you alive, changing the build quite a bit. And i cannot be bothered altering the build so drastically just to compare it to the current build.

it basically makes it an entirely different build. And it is way beyond me wether its a good build or not =P
Sry, maby i didnt answer your question properly, it might just have been a wall of text.

Short version: leech a lot less, deals sliiiiightly more damage. if you just use the rest of the build as it is, its just a survivability/damage tradeoff
