[1.2] Lightning Strike Tank - Max Block/Aegis Aurora - Moderately Priced

Hi, all the skill point builds have been meshed up. Could you update this guide for patch 1.3? I know this is a lot, but it would really be good if this got updated. Thanks in advance!
Sure thing! Been super busy with work lately, I should have some time tonight or tomorrow to bring this one up to speed. Thanks for your interest!
Level 80 Rough draft

This is troublesome. Int is low, can't really feasibly get max block without getting close to 100.

With this you have +33% block and another 4% from tempest shield, bringing it up to 71% total.

Random bits of increased physical nodes from either +phys, +phys holding a shield, or +phys with maces.

Attack speed leaves something to be desired.

Increased defenses with a shield skyrocketed up to +375%, not including any armor or ES nodes already on there.

+life% is only 126%, with +90 flat bonus.

No aura nodes yet, I'm not sure how well this will work anymore! It definitely needs an expert's touch of optimization, and I'd love advice from anyone who want to take a stab.
So, questions.

No static blows? One of the primary problems I found trying to build an effective tree was reaching SB without compromising the character too much... are we giving up on that completely now? Cos SB always used to be a key skill for Lightning Strike characters...

No Resolute Technique, reeeeallly? Hmmm. Ok, I think I see where you are going with this, you're forgoing Static Blows and therefore skipping RT so that you can still shock. I'm not sure how I feel about a non-RT build =(

I removed static blows when patch 1.2 hit, as it was just too far to really justify.

I still like resolute technique for this build, but the problem is with the huge shield nerf, I'm not even sure how viable this is anymore, RT or no.

The rough draft I posted with the bare necessities is already a level 80 build. Granted I am not so good with optimizing builds, but I would need a second look to see if this can be done anymore.
Really appreciated your effort on this one mate. Will try to do some tweaking and will post my improvement later on. Currently using your updated build with Sovyn's Lazy Pally build. Practically the same in almost all aspects. I am lv73 at the moment and I am wrecking almost everything w/ the exception of blood magic maps ofc. Running hatred instead of purity of elements as I have max res on gears.

P.S. I still don't have aegis yet but I am doing fine. I have 71% damage reduction thanks to the armor nodes. My dps dropped from 16k to 12.5k, but damage is still pretty good.
...I honestly do hope you're using WED now instead of Melee Phys. really. Melee Phys does nothing for the projectiles.

while it may not be as doable as you think it should be, I think Max block is still worth pursuing, because of the reactive melee gems.
Better stay in the land of the damned, Exile. Here, even the very words are corrupted by Nightmare.

Thanks for your response!

If I get the two 5% shock chance nodes near the Templar area to get a total of 10% shock chance, do you think that's enough to reliably get the shock ailment on enemies when using Resolute Technique?

It isn't much of a detour to get them. Shock was pretty helpful to me before 1.2. I haven't had a chance to test out the new reactive gems yet, so you may be able to sacrifice some block or defense to use them instead and gain some points to get your shock chance.
