Answer: Don't play on Pub Default or Hardcore Leagues and make your own league to play with legit players. duhh.
If you treat this game like a competition, you're gonna get the shaft; like steroids in sporting events, only cheaters win--so accept it and move on.

So, instead of combating the problem, we should just let it go and pay to have private leagues while the regular game goes to hell? I am on to you currency seller!

you can't stop it, ever.
the important thing is to declare it cheating.
then not 95% do it like in d3.
I stopped about 8 sales today. Infact, every one of them on ebay today were removed.
We can stop the majority of it, and with GGG going after copyright infringement, they can get the people we can't.
As I said before, we won't be able to stop all of it, but we can damn sure make it hard on the sellers.
I thought ebay did away with virtual item sales long ago, i.e. during the D2 item sales heyday.

What's the problem?
Working an hour extra at work, earning 100 USD, which I can buy an item which otherwise would take me 100, or maybe 500 hours of ingame play time to acquire? That item might be the one thing which makes my time spent playing the game even more swell.
Who are you to go all judgmental?

To the guy that has already posted (And sold) items on ebay.
May your genitals be infested with the crabs of a thousand dirty whores for already screwing up the game and making it possible to pay-to-win.
To those who buy.
May you get incurable gonorhea...in your mouth.
Sincerelly,
Tand
Oh look, another completely ignorant person who cares what other people do when it doesn't remotely affect them or the game.
- You can't stop it.
- Its a complete waste of time and resources for GGG to do anything about it.
- It doesn't affect you.
- You can't stop it. Ever. Its literally impossible.

Because like others said it allows the best items to be only sold for money which hurts the game. And it is also bannable and not allowed. Real life money should not affect this game. If you don't like farming you are playing the wrong game so you pay 100$ for a godly sword okay what are you going to do with it... FARM MORE oh wait you don't like farming...
Diablo 3 that way --------------------------------------------------->

" it allows the best items to be only sold for money"
Firstly, what you are saying here, is that if you find a "best item", you would sell it for money. Is that really what you mean?
If not, trade it for ingame currency. What is your problem? Nobody is forcing you to do anything YOU do not want to do.
"hurts the game"
How does it hurt the game?
"not allowed"?
Really? You have never driven at 56 mph in a 55 mph zone?
"Real life money should not affect this game"
This game is made to earn the developer real life money. Real life money is needed to play this game (servers, internet connection, + a lot more). The amount of real life money you have (or your parents), directly affects the time available for you to play the game. Welcome to the real world, child...
"you are playing the wrong game "
I play the game I enjoy. Do you?
I love it when people say, "You are doing it wrong!!!"
"you pay 100$ for a godly sword okay what are you going to do"
Obviously put it to use on my sword wielding build... And not on my archer. DUH!

If you are here to buy your gear and not earn/farm it you are simply playing the wrong game. And hopefully will be banned for buying. They put these rules in so POE won't be P2W. Your analogies sucked by the way. Calling me a children when you buy gear in a grinding/farm game ha what a good laugh.

Can't really keep the njaguar types from profiting on these kinds of virtual items.
"There will be bugs."
To this you could add,
"There will be bots."
"There will be 3rd party trade sites."
"There will be currency for rl cash sellers."
Hopefully the small profile of this game and intrinsic nature of the currency items will help to mitigate the above inevitabilities.
