[2.5 Video Guide] Beginner's Build: Dual Flame Totem, Blood Magic Chieftain [Atziri & HC/SC Viable]

Let's face it, for Crit FT, the Templar is a far better choice. I have played an Inquisitor a while back (with Three Dragons and light to spell dmg on daggers for good measure), it is way superior to this build. Fully buffed the tooltip DPS was around 125k per totem and thanks to the Inquisitor ascendancy crit strikes completely ignore monster resistances. Freeze, shock, shatter... helluva build. ;)

I did play this build after the original build guide (as a Witch, before Ascendancy) and while it is always a good choice for a budget friendly toon to start a new league it does have it's limitations when it comes to endgame content, even "upgrading" to Incinerate Totems helped very little in the end. :(

For damage, sure. Inquisitor has no doubt more damage potential thanks to Inevitable Judgement. However, I don't see 100k dps with 50-60% fire penetration (monster resistance cap is 75%) being too much less considering the utility Chieftian ascendancy provides: totem taunt on hit and life leech from totem damage. On top of that, totem fire immunity enables Chieftain to run any map mod smoothly. Of course you can still do reflect maps since you are playing some totem character but resummoning your totem every other second is just going to be a pain in the ass. Inevitable Judgement is also tied to capping crit chance, and that is normally more expensive compared to Cheftain because there is no "requirement" in terms of crit chance for Chieftain - you just get what you can get.

Agreed but not excessively so and with Inquisitor you do get more bang for your buck eventually. But as I said in defense of Lifting's build, it's always a budget-friendly choice to start off into a new season, also Chaos conversion is always an option and still viable despite the nerf.

And yes, the new unique shield will be a welcome addition to a great many totem builds including this one. Although most will still go for BM in the tree, Mortal Conviction and Iron Wood are too good to be missed out on.

I gonna play this build (again) this league in BHC, using this tree which posted 揪心君 earlier:

Maybe with the new totem shield, gonna test it.

I wonder if scorching ray is good for early leveling since flame totems are kinda bad until you can place two of them and got a couple of levels into the gem. And maybe use it later aswell for the debuff?

How far in the game can this build get?

Both the video and the guide just say "its strong" but, but what tier of maps can it get to, can it kill shaper, can it kill the breach bosses?

I am looking for a build for the upcoming season and I only want to make one character, so I want that one character to be able to get as far as possible.

Thanks

It isn't meant to be end-game viable. It's harder to start with FT now than it used to be, but it just doesn't have enough damage to do end game content like Shaper. You can do normal Atziri with it though. It's a good build to start a league to build up currency, but then you would want to switch to a stronger build.

Can this particular build be built into something else, or are you saying you just use this build to get currency to make a whole other character?

Have a look at page 149, there's a few ideas/builds.

Question of my own:
How much of a nerf is the Facebreaker nerf for crit FT builds? Still worth using?
Global crit multi went from 90% to 45%.

I will actually be using that for my new build tonight!

I will be a crit flame totem chieftain, building on top of this build :)
