I already answered why pyre totally kills this build, please read whole guide (and unique item mods) before posting, NOOB ;)
i dont have to, pyre is in any case better.

and thats why: it saves you a lot of skillpoints and hastle. even tho you cant proliferate that nicely as you want it to be, it will outperform your icespear proliferate with any other kind of aoe skill.

at least it works out for you.

pyre is in any case better.

Pyre ring will only proliferate before the source dies, so you will have to shoot at least 2 ice spears to kill the remaining mobs.

Edit after reading your edit:
The point of this build is to deal a big first hit with a crit (IS is the best crit spell) and proliferate the burn, so the initial target will often die from the first hit, stopping the proliferation. Pyre may be better for other kind of prolif builds, but in this case, I think Avatar of Fire + Cold to Fire is better.

My calculations were made with that in mind.
For example, initial hit of 1000 fire damage, with FP lvl 20 on a 0% res mob = 1350 damage. Without any fire-ele-burning-dot damage increase, the burning produced is 1350*0.2=270 per second = 1080 dmg over time.
If IBD instead of FP, initial hit is 1000 dmg, with IBD lvl20, the burning damage is 1000*0.2*1.59= 318 -> 1272 overall burning damage.

This is the worst case for FP and the best case for IBD.
Using your tree, the numbers are (not counting crit dmg because it's the same multiplier for both cases):
With FP: 1000*(1+0.74+0.28+0.68+0.89)*1.37= 4918 dmg initial hit
4918*(1+0.75+0.68+0.89)*0.2 = 3265 per second -> 13060 overall burning damage

With IBD: 1000*(1+0.74+0.28+0.68+0.89)*1.02 = 3662 hit
3662*(1+0.75+0.68+0.89+0.59)*0.2 = 2864 per sec -> 11454 overall burning damage

ratio FP/IBD = 1.14

And remember this is on a 0% fire res mob, which is the worst case for fire pen, on a 75% res mob, the 1.37 multiplier reaches 2.48/4=0.64 while the 1.02 multiplier on no FP setup is only 0.27 (leading to ratio FP/IBD = 2.01).

I hope this wall of numbers helps you, and please tell me if I'm wrong, there may have some mistakes or misunderstanding of game mechanics.

Sadly, due to burning damage, it's very damn hard to know if enemies burn faster with IBD or FP on a pratical basis

But from your calculations, against a 50% fire res mob pack it becomes:

with IBD: 1000*(1+0,74+0,28+0,68+0,89) *0,52 = 1867 initial hit
1867*(1+0,75+0,68+0,89+0,59) * 0,2 * 0,5 (mob fire res) = 730 fire damage per second

With FP: 1000*(1+0,74+0,28+0,68+0,89) * 0,87 = 3123,3 initial hit
3123*(1+0,75+0,68+0,89) *0,2 * 0,5 = 1036 fire damage per second

Which is actually better than increased burning damage! not counting that i have a 20% fire penetration which also grants an extra 10% fire damage to the equation

I'll swap it and see how it goes! i was pretty sure that burning and DoT passives/gems would increase multiplicatively burning damage, not additively.. i'll test this out in 75% extra fire resist maps

The fact is, with pyre proliferation occurs until hitted mob is still alive and burning. without pyre proliferation remains until the dead body ceases to burn and thus can continue proliferating to all nearby enemies killing them.

Now, since with a 600% multiplier and high basic damage you WILL oneshot AND DESTROY the veeeeeeery vast majority of the normal and magic (some rares too) mobs, proliferation will have exactly ZERO seconds to proliferate to other nearby enemies, keeping them alive.

Again, it's useful for tanky mobs like bosses, but completely useless for crowd clearing for the above reasons. Hope i cleared it up

EDIT: lol some1 already respond before me, well :/
