The problem with chained women on the UI is that there is no context for interpreting it. If there were chained women in a harem, and you go in there to fight the harem master and get some quest item, great. No one complains about the gold statues in Solaris, because we know it's the statuary of the Eternal Empire, and that it represents a lot of figures that were considered either important or beautiful to that people. But the old globe art was just a free-floating bit of tackiness that left a bad first impression for a lot of people, especially since the UI appears in every screenshot. It's far too close to a League of Legends-style "tits for tits sake" design. That sort of thing isn't really "mature" at all, it's expressly calculated to appeal to the sort of young males that hang posters of women in bikinis in their rooms. The fact that it was being called "orb candy" was indicative of a problem. The rest of the game isn't like this at all, the nudity or female objectification isn't gratuitous. The Siren (Merveil) and the Succubus (Atziri) are partially nude because of the mythological associations with those figures that go far deeper than PoE. There are naked bodies in Lunaris that evoke 20th Century images of genocides and mass graves. That's context.
The globes were just tacky. I hope GGG sticks to their guns here and pushes through the redesign despite all the loud complaining.
There are tits and dicks in the game everywhere and you complain OBJECTIFICATION?
Error 404: Higher brain functions not found.
Oh, and "Despite all the loud complaining"?
You're saying the should cater to the 1% of the playerbase who probably doesn't even support them, instead of say, doing what the real players and players who actually support the game want and like?

Love it!
It's a nice touch to have thought about women (or sexes) objectification in the making of the new U.I. It's thoughtful to make the game more humane :-)

Absolutely. Normalizing women as sex parts can't be good in any way. Changing the orbs help in that manner.
Keep up the good work, GGG!

if you were offended at all by PIXELATED STONE WOMEN IN A VIDEO GAME you really need to reevaluate some things in your life.
I don't even notice the female figures at all when I play and I'm it's the same situation for 99.999999% of all players save the handful of bored social justice warriors that get "offended" by it in a game that is almost 100% played by heterosexual males.

NeroNoah's internet law: every videogame thread where feminism or Anita Sarkeesian is mentioned, will end derailed and with people discussing without any grade of objectivity about repression and objetification.

The topic is: 1 feminist cried on reddit about objectification, literally everyone else was against it, and now GGG is catering to the one feminist.

Maybe there is another reason for the new designs?
GGG devs are hardly prudes, and...it was exactly one complaint.
