I can understand with the give ruleset for this upcoming league why it was made softcore , but can only assume why there is no hardcore league (with a different ruleset)for a month is due to not enough time/manpower for ggg to make one. What will be will be i guess.
One thing im happy to hear is Softcore players won't mind that if no 4 month softcore league start's in 1 months time , only a 4 month hardcore league race.They are perfectly happy in standard for 4 months and we wont have 1 of them complaining about it.

No, not really. If someone choses to call themselves a "no lifer" that's their business. It is entirely different to attempt to insult somebody, regardless of the phrase being used, as that is against the forum rules. The moderators enforce the forum rules, that's what they get paid to do, partially.

Like many others, I feel like the exclusion of an hc league is a misstep here. Had this been a one week or two week league in the middle of invasion/ambush it would have been ok. But many people have stopped playing towards the end of the last leagues waiting on the new ones to come out, and going back from invasion -> regular HC isn't as compelling because you lose features that way and gain nothing new unless you played regular HC the whole time. This creates a 1.5 month period where a lot of players have nothing to look forward to in this game, which drives them away with no guarantee of how many return.

I feel that since the previous leagues ended, there should be 2 new leagues running. I don't feel there's been enough added since the last league to make a 1 month test/theorycraft build league (I'm assuming all work right now is going into 1.2). Likely bigger changes are coming in 1.2 so theory crafting for such a small time frame and no hardcore league is not as appealing. No currency or gear is coming to hardcore players from this league giving less incentive for them to play it. Deleting your character on death does not replicate the hardcore league feeling because the economy in the game will be catered to players who keep their loot even after death, and leading to unreasonable prices for gear to players who have to restart over and delete their gear.


If this was meant to hold people over for the time being, it should accommodate both leagues players. The only reason I see there being one league is the prizes, but I don't think that's a good enough reason to make one league, particularly a soft core league since reaching higher levels is not difficult without the HC threat of dying and losing the character.


Also I hope GGG isn't deterred away by this SC vs HC nonsense fight going on here. If you don't play HC/SC that's fine, but don't minimize other people's definition of fun out of some feeling that your way of playing is being attacked because we're in some kind of war against each other. If you don't feel like the fear of making a mistake can cost you your character can be fun that's fine and understandable, but don't say things like HC players think they won't be seen as good of players for playing SC. Because now someone will think the appropriate response is to attack SC which does no one any good really. I know the temptation of know it all nerds to dismiss others opinions when not aligned with their own, but be reasonable guys. Feel superior in your own head, you're not going to convince someone from the other side to do so no matter how many times you call them noobs, whiners, and elitists.

HC players want an HC league, this has nothing to do with the existence of a SC league and SC players way of playing so I don't see why there's an argument here at all. And while SC players can get their gear and loot of HC and can afford the HC prices of equipment, HC players can't do the reverse. They also want the tension of playing in that league and economy to match the playing style. These are things they can't get from an SC league.

I say this as a bad HC player who started HC at the beginning of invasion, took a break at beginning of last month hoping to come back at the start of a new league. But I don't feel like I can go back to softcore now. I already miss invaders in maps. Hope there's time and enough call to get a hardcore league added.
