[1.2.0] "Forcefield" - Flameblast - EB/MoM/Block - Atziri & Endgame Viable!

I started this build today as a test to see if this is what I want to start the next 3 month league as, but I'm having some trouble. There are no damage nodes when you start as a witch it seems... did you notice this as well? I'm not using any of my usual twink gear (life spring, perandus, etc) so I can see what it will be like with a fresh league. Just seems really slow going at the start, especially with no ignite rolling (no quality flameblast on a fresh league!)

Flameblast is pretty strong even without any damage nodes and your survival always comes first. If you're planning on playing in the standard league then you could definitely sacrifice life for damage but I would advice against it on hardcore. Getting to endgame alive is what's most important.

I made my character the moment Beyond started and had a 15%~ quality Flameblast a couple of hours later. I then died at level 46 and had to buy a new one, so getting your Flameblast gem shouldn't be hard even if the league has just started.
Heya, this build is looking great! I've been using Kute Kitteh's tanky arcer with a flame totem and it's been great to 87, managed to complete Apex without any deaths and loving the max block/ 40% mom from cloak and 20/20 arctic armour with a 20/20 arc and proliferation.
After deciding to do all 6 other classes to 65 for the challenge I really liked flameblast with a 4L searing touch, got to 65 in sub 9 hours without even using a tabula, so I've been considering converting my tanky arcer into this build for a bit of a changeup - do you think it's worth spending the Regrets (I've got enough saved up with a few free respecs still to use up), or should I just run my flameblast shadow up from 65?

Here's is my 87 witch's current build - http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMAAuMEBwUtBjkG6QelC2EOPBBYEQ8RLRSwFm8aVRpsHwIkqicvJ2Eo-iycMjQ1kjboNuk6UjpYQYdEq0WdTC1PfVFgU1JVrlXGVytYr14TXypfP2BLYSFko20ZdO12EXgNeWh5wHrvfIN-r37igFaCEIIegseD24TvhymNGY-mmuCdrp_LoLSnCKlurJisr7Xytz64k7yfvYLBBMOGzfrYvdlf2t3bC9wd3Yzfit-w4BLjauOf5OznC-eR6QLr5Ovu7tnvDvMG87756PrS-6r-Cv6z

And my flameblast shadow build - http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgYAAuMEBwSzBVsHYwelDY0OSBBYEmkUTRXnGGUabBzcHwIhsCL0JpUqjSycLUculDI0NPc2xTbYOlg8BT1fRXxG10kbSbJMs1BCUlNVS1XGXcZd8mHibAttGXOzdoKCEIM4g9uHZYuMjDaXhZeVl5eX9J1jna6f36IApLGnCKyYr7e00bUEyAzLvdgk37Dhc-OE5CLljuxV7SDvfPAf8GvxbA==

I've got all the gear for this build except Anvil, but I should be able to get it.

Also I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but you're only getting 34% block chance form passives plus 10 from Anvil, so that bring total block to 74 (with Rathpith) - where are the other 4% coming from ?

Ta!
D1 - PvM D2 - PvM/PvP D3 - MvM (Money vs Monster)

Tempest Shield is what gives us the last 4%.

Hmm, that's a lot of points to respec. I like Witch more than Shadow for the build but I think you'd be better off leveling your Shadow so that if you want to go back to your tanky arcer build you can do that.

I guess it depends on how rich you are and how much you like/dislike leveling.

Gotcha, ill just have to scour trade chat at the start of next league. Hopefully someone finds a gemcutters box with 15%+ flameblast in it on the first day that i can snipe :)

I made a few small changes, and was wondering about your input on them. Biggest change is that my start goes through the spell damage and cast speed nodes on the left of witch start instead of the mana nodes (should help with the slowness at the early levels i was talking about above). I'm wondering if you know about the interaction between cast when stunned gem and the cast interruption nodes in witch. Will these nodes prevent CWS from activating? Also a few others: Removed dual curse nodes because i know i'd never use it (really bad about cursing), picked up deep thoughts to account for losing the witch starting nodes, and dropped 1 max life node to stay to 119 (which you'd have with oak/point/point bandits). I'll be playing softcore leagues if that matters

Taking those points early on could definitely make leveling a bit faster and the cast speed would make Flameblast less annoying to use. If you're going to be playing on softcore then it's not that big of a deal to spend extra points on damage so go for it. Later on it's kind of wasteful to spend points on spell damage and cast speed when elemental damage doubledips and you charge your Flameblast so fast that you don't really need it to be any faster.

The cast interruption nodes should not interfere with CWS as it only reduces the chance of being interrupted if you are stunned, unlike the Heart of the Oak node which says it reduces your chance to be stunned. You won't get stunned much before you start going full block so taking the points early won't make that much of a difference but you do get 20 str/dex so maybe they're worth picking up.

I have my second curse linked to CWS so even if you take the extra curse node that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll have to cast two curses.

This is the most OP build I've ever tryed. I have been able to do all maps / bosses (even maps with elemental reflects). I also been able to kill abaxoth without loosing any hp and I also did "death and taxes" map, mao keep map and such.

For mapping the clear speed is really efficient. Not only that this build can make mapping efficient but the tankiness of the character is amazing. You don't have to fear for corrupting blood n'or for elemental reflect.

Best thing I've been able to achieve on this build was doing Atziri, not the most efficient way but I'm still able to take her down.

I been using that build up to lv 94. I'm respeccing before the league ends to have fun with the Mjolner I've dropped but by far the best build i've had sucess with.

Here is a link to the gear I had before respeccing (Same gear that I used to kill Atziri with)

Thank's alot for sharing your build Redoxe

Excuse my bad english, I'm french :)

Really enjoying this build.. I have never done a Max block character before and this was the one i settled on.. I'm glad i did. Very fun.. feel like a badass standing around and not taking damage.

Move speed is quite annoying with the anvil, and I really need a 6L CoD for faster casting because flameblast charges up a little slow for my tastes. Overall though i cant complain.

I have all the necessity gear, need a new helm, rings, gloves though..

Big thanks to all of you who try my build and leave kind comments in this thread! I really appreciate it! If anyone is missing a piece or two to make this build work on Beyond then just PM me and I'll give away my equipment.

Try to get an Adrenaline roll on your Quicksilver flask which together with the flask nodes on the passive tree makes you run much faster. It's enough movement speed to not even notice the penalty from The Anvil.

You're right about getting the last support gem, having that extra cast speed makes Flameblast that much more fun! Looking at my older videos from before Echo came out when I was only using Faster Casting is just painful.

Well you created one of the best non-mirror gear builds, definitely the best 6l flameblast build. :)

Yeah, what makes this build not OP is the need for a 6l CoD to be really enjoyable.
