Help crafting a 6 link bow for +1 and +2 level gems

Only practical use I can think of for that sword is a viper strike build, as that is the only melee skill that scale well off of gem level.

Still, I'd say that sword is instant vendor, as obviously an viper strike build needs more APS.

Actually, it might be cool to try a viper + melee splash build sometime.

The only reason +3 bow gems can be good is for poison arrow.

Yup, this sword can support just a single build, that's quite rare in HC. And besides that it really lacks AS, which is damn important in that case.

If i wanted to try something like that i would pay 3-5 chaos for it, on standard.

That's about how much i would pay for that +3 levels bow the guys listed earlier.

Also, I'm pretty sure I could craft a + lvls bow for a lot cheaper than that dude was asking for that thing.

The OP's original thought was to craft something using the 6L that dropped for them and thought + levels would be better than stats.

Honestly, if you need a 6L for a skill, get a tabula and a well rolled bow.

Otherwise crafting a 5L on a good bow isn't altogether difficult.

Ironically, I've had a a tabula for about 4 months now and still haven't used it at all; my high level characters have been fine with 5 links.

Sold it for one ex and two divs.

Much more reasonable pricing.

Regarding having a 6link drop, it's my first and i've been playing since closed beta which is about 18 months now and I play regularly, almost everyday. Guess thats how rare it is.

Frequency of these prefixes (source; values may be off, but let's pretend they are real):
Sharpshooter's - 1.674%
Paragon's - 0.418%

Strategy 1: Alt Paragon, regal Sharpshooter.

Alt-aug phase: 100/0.418 = 238 alts, 1 trans, some augs (results rounded down)
Regal phase: (100*2-0.418)/1.674 = 119 expected attempts (*2 is here because regal can roll a suffix)
Total: 238*119 = 28322 alts, 119 regals, plus augs and scourings.

Strategy 2: Alt any, regal another.

Alt-aug phase: 100/(0.418+1.674) = 47 alts. 4 times out of 5 it's Sharpshooter.
Regal phase: 0.8*((100*2-1.674-1.674)/0.418)+0.2*((100*2-0.418)/1.674) = 400 regals.
Total: 47*400 = 18800 alts, 400 regals, plus augs and scourings.

Way less than 4 exalts?

These calculations are for itemlevel 79 bow, for itemlevel 64 results will be lower, but still far more than 4 exalts.

Is practical crafting that far from this? Am I missing something? How is it going?
