Molten Strike Retrospective

I am starting to get worried as this game is starting to turn into Median XL, though i enjoyed Median XL i felt making everything like a Dragon Ball Z character was too far from what the diablo series was about. Path of Exile came from the Diablo 2 Roots and it feels great to play a ARPG enspired from the golden age of ARPG's for the modern market, and for alot of people recaturing that Fire we all had many years ago. I am worried this Game's direction and given time this game could be called, Path of Median... it kinda already started with Cast on crit with no internal CD, The game is starting to be a mess, as for molten strike, a move thats as good as Heavy Strike + AOE just shadows other moves.

The molten Strike Splash effect could be toned down in a form of what diablo 1 Acid Beasts use to leave on the floor with bubbling magma, but saying that thats a good idea for a Acid Skill Gem.

Thanks for the commitment you guys have in the office, please dont let it go to your head and start making it into Median XL.
I cannot support the Direction of this game anymore due to the fact the PC verson of the game will be compromised due to the limitation of the console verson, which explains alot of the current state of the game.

Median XL is like the best Diablo 2 mod. Why the hell do you refer to it like it's some D3 garbage?

AWESOME news post! It was a pleasure to read since myself and a lot of others were wondering how the skill actually functioned. It's too bad it had to be nerfed that much though, were still going to need a single target or a gem swap..
Anyways, keep up the good work and more news posts like these! :)

A very interesting post, I hope GGG can do more of these in the future. I love understanding the process of how/why something was added into the game. GGG is in touch with the community, and that means a lot to me.

Looking forward to trying the new skill out!
My two cents

I like the original AOE + 50%, most damage done to your target with splash.

With the current design it looks like the optimal targeting is to always miss your target to the left to get the additional splash on right.

Why would you want the game to turn into this

Awesome information.
I've been toying with Molten Strike a bit as of late on different classes. I first started by just popping it in place on my Searing Bond templar that was already established. Without tweaking the build at all (other than speccing out of Acestral Bond), it proved rather fun to use.

I've also tried it out on a crit shadow, as well as now a duelist.

I've enjoyed the skill thus far, however, I do wish that an area of burning ground was created after the splash, hence allowing for gap coverage for the mobs that are missed even though they are right in front of you.

I think adding such would then also combine the fire and physical with burning damage also, allowing for a very wide array of potential. Perhaps too much. But it would be fun nonetheless.
