Downtime happens when the patch is implemented and only takes a few minutes, if even that. It sounds like you're having some connection issues and should either contact your ISP or GGG support. I am having the same issues. It is either the patching process causing downtime, or the patch itself causing people to get booted off randomly. I went from 1-5 minutes of connection drops due to "an unexpected error has occurred" to "unable to connect to patching servers" when restarting the game. This can't be related to the patch or the patching process, as neither have begun yet. The patching won't begin until this afternoon. As Bunnu said, this sounds like you're having some connection issues. You could talk to your ISP, or post in the Technical and Account support forum - preferably with a WinMTR output that would help people identify where between your client and the servers the issues are originating. Strangly enough I crashed for the first time in a long time just yesterday. I was also experiencing some strange FPS hiccups which I've never had any issue with before. Odd, that the Week Race(s) this time around aren't DURING a Race Season.. The last 3 1-Week Dom/Nem/Dom+Nem Races were, and gave points to the Season Rewards. I was hoping the 2-Week would give some points, so that I could skip a Race or too because I'm lazy. :P But Chris said "Rewards", I wonder if he just means the Raffle, which I am much looking forward to. ^.^ That Headhunter Raffle shall be mine!
