I'm completly against coold downs in an ARPG. While I don't like Ultimates at all, Souls are the better solution since they keep you in your pace killing stuff. Set Cooldowns encourage slowing down to use the ultimates on more mobs overall which is contrary to the fun, fast pasted combat.



souls are an arbitrary cooldown (have to refil so you have downtime between casts)


if they only want 1 use per zone they need to have their damage increased by about 300% so they can one shot bosses

otherwise there is no point other than a gimmick


Ah, I see you have never used Vaal Cyclone on a righteous fire character. Soul's are the only way to go. You have to do stuff, to get stuff, not simply wait till it's on again. And on a normal map you have like 3-5 uses for a vaal skill, which is plenty enough. It need's a little bit of planning ahead to be up for the bossfight, but that's it.

If it is 24 in normal it will be 36 in cruel and 48 in merciless.

I like the soul system better than cooldowns.
It means whether you play fast or slow you get the same chances to use them.
Also makes the trade off when carrying multiple ones more interesting.

I just wish they charged on weapon switch so we could theoretically devote 6 link setups to them.
The later you get in the game the more they need to be supported to be useful, but they are used so infrequently it becomes hard to justify dedicating multiple links to over other defensive or utility options.


actually that would the only way i would be using them :)
i thought it worked but was disapointed that they didnt charge when on the secondary weapon slot.
i didnt see it... what was the second aura btw?

No. Just no. If souls remain through areas, you could just stack them in ledge norm then spam all of them in, for example, dominus, then go back to ledge to charge them again and repeat... It would be too easy...


So you're saying if you're forced to go to ledge to power all of your Vaal Skills up, to then go to Dominus to kill him, which btw won't happens since having multiple Vaal Skills will split souls gained, reducing the time you'll get it back.

Even if someone would do this, he would waste more time charging them up, than any other typical farmer build could kill Dominus 2-3 times.

See the whole picture here? You will ALWAYS maximum use 1 bloody Vaal Skills, because if you use more than 1 you won't get to use them in most scenarios.

If people really wants more skills, they should give us passive NODES that grants buffs when not affected by Auras, therenext more Skills that works WELL with just being a 4L.
There, you now have 1 more 4L and a Skill to use in it.

People really do this, whether you believe in it or not, not to farm bosses, but to progress in the game, go through the acts. It breaks the game immersion, not the economy.
You don't need 2 vaal skills to do this, just one is enough. Vaal Sparks, Vaal cyclone, Vaal burning Arrow and Vaal Molten Shell can do the job pretty well.

Also, I think ppl are missing what this Vaal skill does. Just because damage doesn't interrupt the recharge, it doesn't mean the ES is impenetrable (although these numbers look too high).
