For fun I tried your script (using my system wine, 1.9.11), and for the record it results in worse performance than my PlayOnLinux setup - dropping to 1-2fps while fighting packs, whereas my PoL setup "only" drops to 5fps :P

Neither are particularly usable, so hopefully 2.3 will bring some improvements for us :)
Play on Linux version of WINE? It probably has different patches than vanilla development. Unfortunately, I can't get latest wine staging versions to compile properly on my system.

Now 2.3 patched and running. Can't login yet. The following errors appear:

well the patch has certainly made it load quickly, takes about half a second once the launcher is done fumbling around even through wine on an hdd

PoL was using 1.9.11-staging with CSMT enabled, so yes - it's not a fair comparison. My point was really that the underlying issue with regen/degen-based fps drops affects both setups. It was still an interesting test to do though.
Not noticing any major performance improvements. Still get insane FPS drops, ES regen still impacts it. Really disappointing since most of us all dealt with it since 2.2. :/
Loading times are fast, but my in-game performance is shot to hell, at least on my summoner necromancer build. Things are fine when there are no enemies, but as soon as my minions engage a pack of monsters my fps drops to single digits, often down to 3 or 2. Fortunately the minions don't need much in the way of my input, but I'm afraid I'll die without being able to do anything. Before 2.3.0 things were fine and I very rarely got below 10 fps. I haven't tried any of my other builds yet. Didn't pay attention to ES regen, but that wasn't a problem before.

I'm using PlayOnLinux and wine 1.9.4. Nothing in my system changed across the patch; I played until 5 minutes before the servers went down and logged back in as soon as they were up again.

I guess it's back to booting to Windows every time I want to play seriously. A shame, since being able to play in Linux meant I could just quickly do a map when I had nothing better to do IRL.
Agreed, it's still terrible here too. Let's hope we can get a GGG response at some point...
Just played a while on 2.3 now, with wine 1.8 and my R9 380 (fglrx driver, runs other modern games nicely).

"Idle" performance when running around stays at 30-40 fps, as before. But the freezes at large animations (e.g. Voll's ground slam) have gotten quite a bit worse: from a short ~ quarter second freeze to roughly one second.

Loading time are as fast as always, since little seems to get preloaded in wine. I'm usually the first of the party appearing in a map by quite a margin. Speaking of which... party play still not feasible unless everyone specifically has a no-effects build.

So far, apart from the considerably faster initial load screen, performance seems to be more or less the same. That said, I've noticed a few issues:

1. Overall CPU load has increased by almost double. (need to look at that in more detail)
2. Some sound events seem to be missing - this is just a small sample:

3. Load time when switching instances is the same as before (I thought this was to change?)
