Cast when damage taken (enduring cry + immortal call)

I have a question about this whole CWDT thing. If I have CWDT+IC+EC all linked together, will it ever trigger IC before EC resulting in only 0.25s of duration?

Also, I saw people recommending this as a manual cast, but is there any reason why EC + Spell Echo + CWDT wouldn't work?
Because Echo does not work with Trigger gems

I see. Any clear knowledge on the first question?

It depends on the order in which the gems are socketed. Afaik, the spells are cast, assuming all sockets are linked, from the top left hand side socket first following the links in order after that. So in a 4L it would be:

You can extrapolate a 6L from that. So if you want your EC to fire first, according to the sketch up above, it must have a lower number than IC. My testing has confirmed this. I usually have my CWDT in 1, EC in 2 and Ic in 3. If I swap the EC and IC around the system behaves very differently i.e. I get a brief IC and a lot of charges, assuming none of the gems are are on cooldown, instead of a long IC and no charges when the gems are in their normal order.

Would something like CWDT (L1) + Targeted spell (L1) + Added chaos (L20) + LL (L20) work?
@f4sak3n Thanks a lot!
Yes. It will deal shit Damage and Leech a fraction of Life.
CwDT grants a massive Damage penalty at level 1, which of course does apply to the Chaos Damage.

Yes, but suboptimal.

I recently was informed that this works, and I've been using it since:

Cwdt(L1) + Curse on hit (L20) + AOE spell (L1) + Warlords Mark (L20)

I use ball lightning for the AOE spell. It's pretty damn effective.

edit: I know everyone hates Warlords Mark for some reason, but you could substitute any level 20 curse. This is just a nice method to consistently proc a level 20 curse without doing anything.

the question is, do you really need to use that immortal call when you take a tiny 5hp hit? or that elemental spell hit? (the hit that pushes you over 880 damage taken) or would you be better off with 7 endurance charges?

Some clues:
- immortal call only stops physical damage
- only signifigant physical damage can stun you
- the only damage worth being immune to is signifigant physical damage

see where i'm going with this?

use CWDT-enduring cry and CWS-immortal call

you'll build up and maintain 7 charges on all non-life threatening damage, yet if you get hit by a big hit and get stunned you'll trigger the immunity (long lasting immunity because you'll have 7 endurance charges built up)

PS - CWS also lets you level up gems attached to it, such as high level molten shell and high level immortal call

best combination in the game

This is a great post, but you have to remember that CwS isn't worth your time when you take Heart of Oak (or Unwavering Stance, obviously).

Something like CwDT lvl 7 + Enduring Cry lvl 9 + Immortal Call lvl 8 + your favorite curse lvl 9 is actually sufficient for many builds, especially those that can leech quickly.

It's an ok, if situational, gem that lets you remove Life Leech from your 6L in some cases, which is cool.

Trigger gems are just a "free" bonus defense. You can't rely on them to save you from bad situations.

The most reliable option is two 2Ls with Enduring Cry + Spell Echo and Immortal Call + Increased Duration. You have to cast them manually, but you get much more benefit from your links this way.

I second this, I tried various triggers for EC and IC (including trying CoMK, which was kinda neat but not great versus bosses, unless they spawn minions), but I've always found that at the very least casting Immortal Call manually is best. Takes a little bit of time and costs some mana, but it's way easier to make sure it triggers when you want it so that you can be sure to rely on it.

Enduring Cry isn't bad to have attached to a trigger, but it can be a little iffy for building up enough charges for a meaningful IC or making sure the charges don't expire. I prefer to manually cast it, but triggering it is fine too.
