Sometimes I think that people do not understand the concept of Open Beta.
Some of the issues were directly caused by the high number of players connected simultaneously.
As this tweet said, it was an infrastructure problem. A material issue.
This does not have anything to do with the software being in open beta.
While there are issues that can be covered by " It's in open beta!", some can't.
So, my point is: don't use that excuse every time a problem shows up, especially if it's directly hardware and not software related.
NB: This is not a "whine post" or a complain about the disconnections. It's just a clarification about using "open beta" as a justification.
'OPEN Beta' A game still in progress with stress testing open to the public. That ALSO includes the infrastructure...
Beside that, it's free.. so whining about this is absolutely useless.
If you don't like it. wait till it goes gold.
I like this game alot, too much actually, so i am rationing my playtime a bit :)

No.
A stress test is a very limited event (in matter of time) and isn't strictly related to the open beta.
The purposes of an open beta and a stress test are completly different.
A stress test is what should have been done prior to the open beta release.
As I said, don't mix "open beta" with everything just because something doesn't work.

Just read my post until the end before saying something useless. You even quoted this part...

The fact that you are a fanboy doesn't change anything.
An open beta isn't related to an insufficient amount of server.

So basicly what your saying is that everyone that does not agree with you is wrong and a fanboy?
Thanks for the namecalling and good day.
"Open and closed beta
Developers release either a closed beta or an open beta; closed beta versions are released to a restricted group of individuals for a user test by invitation, while open beta testers are from a larger group, or anyone interested. The testers report any bugs that they find, and sometimes suggest additional features they think should be available in the final version. Examples of a major public beta test are:
In September 2000 a boxed version of Apple's Mac OS X Public Beta operating system was released.[3]
Microsoft's release of community technology previews (CTPs) for "Longhorn" in January 2005.[4]
Open betas serve the dual purpose of demonstrating a product to potential consumers, and testing among an extremely wide user base likely to bring to light obscure errors that a much smaller testing team might not find.

Hi All;
Lets see how connectivity to the servers goes tonight :)
Question (most probably answered already a hundred times or more):
In THIS PoE Open Beta, will chars be wiped when going live?
Thanks

As stated on the patch notes:
"Version 0.10.0
Notes:
As part of the process of entering Open Beta, we have wiped all characters and reverted them to level 1 so that their names are retained. All items have been destroyed apart from the Unique prize item "Demigod's Presence" and Kiwi pets. There will never be another character or item wipe."
So, no, they wont.

It was done, several times.
I remember a 45k concurrent logged players (bots actually) and I think maybe a 50k.
They have been getting 70k now, which of course will stress the hardware, even with the extra servers bought. They need more servers of course, but it's a very risky business. I'd bet that they could go for 100k but these are not the sort of financial risks you take so easily.
As for continuing to stress test, yes, we are.
Chris even thanked us for the stress tests this weekend, whether planned as such or not, this is beta (I went there) and we continue to test and feedback, intentional on our, or their, part or not.
Casually casual.
