Hi there Linkstatic, awesome build man. I've been looking for a ranger build that feels right, and I think this is the one :D
I might change it up and use LA or split arrow instead of RoA though...but I'll need to get all the gear and gems first, that will be a feat in itself :P I do have a question though (sorry if this has already been answered, I couldn't find it the previous pages) I've heard that when using Lioneyes glare you can't evade any damage reflected at you (despite acro/ondars) because of how lioneyes makes it impossible for enemies to avoid your attacks (they can't avoid you, you can't avoid their reflect). Is there any truth to that? if so, you obviously still think using that particular bow works well for this build, right? |

" Hi! Glad you found something you like :D Regarding Lioneye's and reflect, yes you cannot evade your own reflect with an LG because of the "No Evade" mod. However, I do have CWDT set up to give me immunity to physical damage for almost 4 seconds in which time I burn the mob down :D Let me dig out a couple of videos to illustrate what I mean ^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SfBvQq0CZ4 See that effect that goes off on me every time I hit a reflect mob and the buff that appears at the top? That's Immortal Call doing it's job :D I have a small paragraph dedicated to this on my first post, under the Gem Links sub section :) IGN : Ericaa My Store! /108685 My Rain of Arrows Evasion build guide! https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/791798 Twitch! http://www.twitch.tv/samfishersam Last edited by linkstatic#6621 on Mar 18, 2014, 8:26:57 AM

Sam,
have you ever considered to bring somehow Powercharge on Critical into the build ? It just seems to be very strong. With just 1 passive point into a power charge node, we could get 2oo% increase on critical strike chance. IGN: MyrcellaMartell

I have tried PCoC out before, but it means taking out 1 major DPS gem in my RoA links. As I use RoA far more often than Frenzy (except for bosses), RoA is the logical place to link into PCoC. 4 Power Charges doesn't come close to the DPS of not having Physical Projectile Attack Damage. As it is I attack fast enough to crit very often. If I don't kill with a crit, it stays frozen until it does :D

Generally, crit chance falls woefully behind DPS to most anything else you can link. Unless you are using crits for some other purpose, like COC - it almost never makes sense to gem it.
You have to use Voll's - but given that sick body armor you have, that would make no sense in the build. Plus, you generally just kick ass anyway. My Phys Crit Split Arrow Ranger Guide: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/919885

" This confirms some tests I did. For testing purposes I linked PCoC with Frenzy and built up the charges with Frenzy. The DPS effect on RoA is significant even with only 3 charges and 350% multiplier. Linking it with RoA however means a DPS loss (against Concentrated, Faster Attacks or Physical Projectile Damage), but I was not sure, if that changes once the crit multiplier is higher. On a side note: played a Level 72 map yesterday with 18% physical reflect and 50% reduced regeneration. It is feasible, but I have to be very careful. Controlled pulling of mobs, wait the healthbar to recover after finishing off a pack and a lot of health pots. I am still lacking a good granit flask, maybe it gets easier with that. " I really dislike 50% regen maps as it makes using Blood Rage that much more risky to use. On 50% regen maps with other hard mods, I elect to not use Blood Rage at all as the degen while not leeching is significant, and you'll find yourself barrelling into packs of mobs just to stay alive :P I do like that kind of gameplay though haha. I went for phys/hp IR+unwavering stance+RT Frenzy/RoA build with Ambush start. I'm kinda disappointed DPS wise (2,7k dps with 5L [roa-fa-bm-added fire-conc effect] and 254pdps bow)
I made a new character that will follow your build - I'll try to report my thoughts, but I guess those wont be any news :) I thought about progression skill tree, and only thing what came to my mind was dropping crit nodes early till 68 (harbinger area - It will be hell of a thing to find with my old char any phys harbinger till reaching 68 with new character). Then after 68 focus mainly on picking those crit nodes, and greater crit multi perks. Something like that (more or less): And then I'll pick crit (as that should give me needed DPS for future mapping, and gaining it all the way till the endgame). Is it a good idea ? I think so :) Last edited by adote#1721 on Mar 19, 2014, 4:09:30 PM

" Your link to the passive tree is empty for me. I was going this direction before switching to Sam's build. Basically a variation of ZiggyD's RoA build. But this build gets a lot of its life% from the Scion wheel, which was badly nerfed in the last patch. On patch day I lost 25-30% of my damage, whilst trying to maintain the same life% as before the patch. Unfortunately I was only sure after I used the free respec. Had to invest 51 regrets in total to change to Sam's build, which gives you 250% life with decent damage and less nodes. Past level 90 you can go up to 280% life if you want. IGN: MyrcellaMartell
