I see you are running with blood magic gem in a 4L setup. Try and get 2% mana leech from physical damage on a ring and that will keep you mana up. Then you can switch to Reave/Multistrike/Faster Attacks/Melee Physical Damage/. That will increase the dps a lot.

With mana leech working for you means you can run with Hatred aura.

I am lvl 72 and i have 7k dps on my reave and i am playing fairly casual.

My gear so far:

After playing this character all the way to 81, I'm gonna put this character on hold for a bit. Couple reasons. I want something more flashy (maybe something like Flicker or Discharge, not sure yet) and with easy MF options.

This guide is very well laid out and if you follow the guide as a brand new player you will be able to beat end-game content with little to no problems. I may have not been an entirely new player, though playing this character gave me a much better feel for what characters need. So I'd definitely recommend this build for a new player.

Anyway, here's the gear I ended up with.

The chest piece has no stats as it's not usable, however gems in the chest still gain experience, which is amazing. ^_^ Boots would have Temp in, but I was running with someone who used their own curses.

Yeah, "flashy" is not really the character of this marauder build.
It's more about "standing there hack&slash until you are the last one standing"...
I actually designed it to be "not flashy", for the players who want to play straightforward, solid and "slow" (not many buttons to press, no crazy effects, no reaction time required). ;)

Thank you Sir! :)

Hello Peterlerock,

Thank you for the guide. About a week ago I decided to have a go at Invasion league, and for the first character I was sure I wanted something tanky and affordable. And since I hadn't ever killed dominus as marauder, decided to go for him. Quick glance over the forum got me here, and I figured I'd give this a try. And I'm quite pleased with how it's going.

I'm currently Lv74, progressing quite nicely. I wouldn't even say that im slow. Got a nice sword at Lv53 and it's been very enjoyable. My main issue in Invasion (due to no gg drops whatsoever, not even an exalt in 50h gametime) is endgame weapon. People are charging a fortune for 250+dps swords, so I am still using the 53 sword, and trying to save up currency for a new one. But reave dps is at 6.5k (5L without conc), and I clear 68 maps solo quite nicely.

One thing on my mind constantly is auras and mana management. When solo, I'm running hatred+tempest, with few others levelling. at Lv17 reduced mana, I can fit in hatred+haste (or determ, grace, whatever group needs) but only if group provides highLv clarity. Otherwise my leftover mana is simply too low for the 2% leech to keep up :). But that seems like a very individual issue, and I'm not even sure if it's worth pondering about.

It is a nice feeling to read on global about people ripping to all these invasion bosses which I can semi-afk fight - hold Q and drink coffee while tanking Corrector or Granitecrush :). The one which I would advise everyone using this build to look out for in merciless, is Spinesnap, the chaos leaper. If you have crappy chaos res (-38) like me, then it hurts like hell, and all your manliness can turn into some dead meat in a matter of 2 seconds near it.

Overall I really enjoyed the build, thank you very much for posting and supporting it. I would highly recommend this as a first-character in a hardcore league and/or for players new to the game.

Best regards,
John

Thx for the kind words! :)

The mana issue is a common theme in this thread.
I advice using the blood magic gem if it doesn't hurt the damage output too much.
There's little to no room in this skilltree to get to a healthy mana regen or grabbing reduced mana reserved nodes, so it will be hard or even impossible to run two 60% auras combined with Reave on Mana.

About hardcore I can't say too much.
I would probably use Spectral throw as the main AoE skill (little to no tree adaptation required, see iE Pohx' build of his current invasion character (Ranger, but 99% same skilltree). Just because being ranged makes life a little easier.
I died quite a few times with this Marauder, there's definetly stuff out there that can outright kill you. But that never really bothered me.

I think the build really works in Invasion, yes ranged might be safer but it's not a requirement. Your dps comes mostly from your weapon, and it's really cheap and easy to keep it updated with the crafting recipe, so you can focus on defensive passives early.

Up until Lv74 I have altF4d once, vs spinesnap. If you know what you are doing, don't go for suicidal fights or nightmare mods on maps/areas and your pc won't crash midfight, then you won't die to regular content. And most of the invasion bosses don't really care if you're ranged or melee. This build can easily tank melee stuff like Ossecati and Granite. Yes you might want +maxres with Rima, Curator and Apparatus, and you might not have enough deeps to finish Inti, Alpha or Duchess. But being ranged won't help you with any of those. :)
Is it impossible to get RRGGB/RRRGB on colliseum plate? Becauce all I get is either RRRRG or RRRRB.

Sure it is possible.
RRRGB should be within 20-40 chromatics.
RRGGB should be within 100-200 chromatics.
(rough estimations, you can of course have more or less luck)

Pure armor chests like to roll red sockets, but 3 off colors is not out of reach.

Thanks, I'll keep trying
Thanks for the great guide! I started playing a few weeks ago, so I'm still learning a lot about the game - it's nice that the game isn't a complete cake-walk and you have to think about builds/gear.

For example, one thing I learned today is how important the cast on damage taken linked stuff is. I've been doing lvl 66 Dungeon Map and was getting destroyed by the boss until I linked codt-chains-enduring cry, then he was much easier (also an exalt dropped that run, so was a good day).

I'm kinda wondering where do I go at this point in terms of gear - better sword or maybe BoR?

gear

I've got 3.2k HP, Reave is at 5.3k, armor is 6.5k (w/o determination)

Also, Stone of Lazhwar dropped for me yesterday - there was a mention earlier about using that and being block capped (?). Wasn't sure if I should use that now.

So yeah, any suggestions about improving my build or gear would be great. Excellent guide again.
