on the subject of scamming
no, this is not a how to thread, and I'd love it if whoever from ggg that reads these threads could comment.
I know this is nothing new, has been talked about a million times, and tends to get ppl all wound up -- like most other threads, but some guy in chat was asking for an admin cuz he got scammed, so I rushed right in here to start a thread about it. apparently, the scam in question was some guy asking him for a gear loan, and upon receiving the loan just kept it. i understand these 'scammers' aren't very ethical, but all these 'scams' seem pretty much identical, and I can never figure out what the victims have to complain about. some stranger comes up to you and asks for money, you give him money, he keeps the money. maybe you didn't get that fat check from nigeria, but is that a valid reason to be outraged ? the guy in chat was demanding an admin's time to get this 'scammer' banned, and while I guess this wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, I'd imagine ggg has an array of other things to keep busy, and at some point don't you have to learn to take responsibility for yourself? if I'm in some environment with a million other random ppl running around why would I expect them all to act exactly as I would, or exactly as I wished they would? that's mental illness. I guess my question to ggg is whether this is something they would spend time on, and is basically lying to other players against the tos to the point where a ban should be expected? |

Scams have been punished in the past but not a simple scam like this. Something like a gear loan should never be done outside people you have known for a year+.
It sucks that it happened but simply lying is not punishable. Last edited by kasub#2910 on Jan 9, 2014, 10:37:07 PM

No.
It's really simple: If you don't want to lose your stuff, don't give your stuff away without any kind of trade or collateral given back. |

We need to know the terms of this "loan" (lol). Maybe it didnt have a defined period of return, so the borrower probably thought he could keep it till 2020?

I'm sorry guys. But it is a "BUG" I'm sure.
I did not loan anything to others, is that the cheater ask me HELP KEEP HIS items. I cant said detail because the GM tell me not to teach others how to scam But it just like I confirm before trade and accept, after that the things I just confirmed "drop out" in the town and take away by the cheater. I really hope GGG can fix the BUG even I can not get my money back(50 ex is very much to me), I do not hope anyone be scammed by this way and I think this bug threaten all the game.Items should not be dropped "in the town". I just remind everyone : NEVER KEEP ITEMS "FROM OTHERS".AND BE CAREFUL IF SOMEONE ASK U DO STRANGE THINGS EVEN THIS THING LOOK HARMLESS. If u guys think I'm annoyed I'm really sorry. Sorry again Last edited by knightzerobreak#6917 on Jan 9, 2014, 11:46:30 PM
