How the Open Beta launch went for us
|
I launched a sattelite into the sky, using a rocket. The launch was such a sudden rush for me. The adrenalin going through my veins, oh god, the kick. When it all went well the relief was a-maz-ing. There's nothing like it.
I can't believe what this must've felt like. After 6 years, finally a (kind of official) launch. Kudos to the whole team, and best of luck. You have somehting to be proud of. I will be playing the game a whole lot, that's for sure! |

I'm thoroughly enjoying this game, and am very glad that I chose to support it. I will absolutely show further patronage in the future.
The core game mechanics and the staggering amount of customization available is breathtaking. I can see many sleepless nights ahead at the hands of GGG. =P IGN: Zdustin

Awesome post, I really enjoyed reading about how the launch felt from the GGG perspective. Chris must have felt like Jack Bauer - 24+ hours without sleep but still rocking the show :D
As I mentioned in the Open Beta Status thread, the launch went absolutely smooth for me as well. Download speed was mostly beyond 500 Kb/s, in the end it slowed down a little. Still, I guess I was done downloading after roughly 1 1/2 hours and logged in without problems thereafter. The game ran absolutely smooth right from the start which I absolutely hadn't expected. Absolutely no lag whatsoever, ping times as low as 35 ms from Germany, no disconnects for two hours until I stopped playing (it's not that I WANTED to stop but I had to...). Really, couldn't have gone better in my opinion. I agree with what many people said already, you can be mighty proud of yourselves! I'm sure you will always remember this and even tell your grand kids about it :) Keep up the good work and please please keep up your open and transparent attitude towards the community. It makes all the difference to keep your player/fanbase in the loop and to share some stories and thoughts from behind the scenes. |
