1.2 update dual strike build 84k(160k whit new dagger) dps AOE whit guide and video
This build is really strong, but main problem is usage na hight level. As I write before, it seems navinavi7892 was first focus on block and evasion. Then he reach bigger level and he realized, he needs some armor. Or is there any reason why he chosses Iron reflexes? His first gear was focused on evasion, now has some armor.
Block chance is realy cool thing, because you just simple ignore damage. But not spell damage. Same thing is evasion, you have change to dodge - so again ignore damage. Armor is quite tricky and most time suck- if something hit you and its small damage, armor protect you, but big damage can instantly kills you. So my conclusion: 1) Find gear with block + block spells + evasion + element resist and some armor (but not much) . This will be incredible increase survivality. But with that come smaller dps and life. 2) Find gear with block + evasion + element resist + life(about 4.5k hp will be ok) and some armor (but not much). On bosses use flask (Rumi's Concoction seems to be good choose). On mobs use Flicker Strike insted of Whirling Blades (but still use on traveling). It eliminate problem with range attacks. Problem with damage from spells will be continue, but if you want completly awoid spell damage, you need shield, not another dagger. Build character, what you post, is not bad. But gear choose isn't so good as this build- expecly Bringer of Rain is too powerfull- its 7 link instead of six links. It's more cheaper that six links armor. And I don't understand, why he is so interested in block chaos damage, because most time is that useless. After all, when come out new patch I'm was thinking about create my own build based on this and few other builds(from your link too). I plan use new ways in skill tree and some math. This is also reason, why I ask about current state of this build. Last edited by JohnnyBFG#6588 on Nov 30, 2014, 3:37:03 AM

I have almost the same feelings about this build JohnnyBFG! I am running this build right now and reached level 85 today, clearing lvl 72 maps without any problems with only 2 Marks of the Doubted King xD. Still it seems to me that the potential of it isnt reached yet and as you already sayd BoR is an awesome item to run (not only because its strong but also because it looks nice, well gameplay isnt everything for me :D) If you managed to make your own build guide pls let us know!

Oh my god, have you seen the new passive skilltree? Block dual wield is dead or at least much weaker with those intense block chance nerfes... I dont see a chance for this build to survive with those changes

Passive tree is... funny. They nerf about 90% of all block. I was thinking about "Bringer of WoE" build, but axes skills are across skill tree and damage will be smaller. I don't know, what to do with my shadow :-/. Bringer is now useful only with few items. If I start use evasion instead of block, bringer is useless. Last hope is new unique dagger or super cool meele gems, but it isn't gonna happen. I will wait for update, there is nothing what to do...

Hello again. This thread is half dead, I know, but... I want share my own update of this build.
Old build 1.2 (I'm not sure if it's 100% equal old skill tree) My 1.3 version: Basically: + little more Life + block (from 10 to 16) + evasion rating and armour (from 26% to 40%) + more critical everything + removed Iron Reflexes + added Ondar's Guile - 1% of Life Regenerated per Second - still not good for PVP - old build have 9 free points, mine have 0 (from bandits I take +40 life on normal, then I take 2x +1 skill point) Some gear tips/ideas:
Spoiler
Good combos
Bino's Knife and Adder's Touch in skill tree or Bino's Knife and Mark of the Doubting Knight or all For maximalize block: 2x Mark of the Doubting Knight for phys block Anvil for phys block or Stone of Lazhwar for spells Rainbowstride for spells Rumi's Concoction for all Gems: Riposte is realy good for block setup with Vengeance I have no experience, but it looks fine I was thinking about change BoR for 6L chest + decent helmet. This build will be always half melee glass cannon, but with some good chest and helmet can be more hard to kill. But there is sacrifice- probably best choose is Blind. Smoke mine in helmet can provide similar service. But I use BoR for now. I want try these items in future: Daresso's Defiance- good armour and evasion, life, decent life leech and Onslaught (but I'm not sure, how Onslaught will work- my idea is permanent Onslaught, until there isn't anything to kill) Cherrubim's Maleficence- good armour and evasion, life and 30% life leech Devoto's Devotion- good armour and evasion, speed Atziri's Acuity I'm to poor for them and I'm not sure if I really need them, but these leech is too OP Last edited by JohnnyBFG#6588 on Dec 30, 2014, 1:47:49 PM

I am using Belly as chest + Abyssus as helmet and it works very good. Yes it is kinda yolo but we dont want to fall asleep while playing. I want to test the HoF combo (ele prol + inc burning dmg) and Lightning Strike to kill very dangerous enemies, hope that I get the 6l soon to be able to test it :D

hi guys. i was in love with this build(its first version even before 1.2) when i started playing PoE. it was doing fine till 50lvl, then i somehow got bored. Now I want to get back to my shadow but I have a few questions:
1) JohnnyBFG I recreated my Shadow to fit your build - is it viable? 2) Do you(all of you :D) recommend any good dagger below lvl 60? i'm using mightfly and uncho guille(this dagger with +20%block) for a long time now. 3) my dps is 7k with double strike - is it "ok"? EDIT: 18k 58lvl 4) how expensive is bor in standard league - is it worth it? Last edited by yakalar#2215 on Feb 17, 2015, 5:18:57 PM

any new thought on how to improve(even more) this build? my suggestion is to go straight left in the attributes line , takes nodes +10str and skip movement and attack speed nodes, which are down from FInesse. we loose 9ATK Speed and 8%mov speed, but we gain 3 more passive points. Fenching and Thick Skin are reached through taking dex node on the right from the Weathered HUnter.

Hey, the build you want to play (before 1.2) is kinda dead, it's still playable but you wont get maxblock if you don't spend too much ressources into it (you will have to get the block amulet -the anvil? - to reach it for example so you skip tons of crit mult and other important stats).
I haven't been able to talk to anyone who plays sorts of this build since 1.3 was released, maybe they all gave it up or even quit playing, so for me I am actually the only one playing it on endgame. As daggers below 60 you should aim for Bino's (I am using 2 copies, they are really good and not that expensive) or any good rare daggers (focus on good crit chance and nice pdps), if I will get the currency I will get Honour Etcher of course. 18k dps on lvl 58 is fine, I guess you aren't completely focusing on damage, as far as I am it's about 1shotting everything and I am not focusing on any defences (120k dps on lvl 89). BoR has 3 different stages and you need one of the Legacy versions if you want to play with BoR. I can tell you that BoR is very good because you don't need to get a 6l chest, I have changed it into Abyssus as the helmet and Belly of the Beast as the armor. Both don't cost much, I got a 40% Belly for 1ex in standard. The problem you will have if you aren't very lucky is that you will struggle if you don't have a 6l, so all in all BoR should be fine. If I remember right the legacy version costs around 4ex. After all this build will be very yolo at higher stages of the game anyways because you are melee which means that you hae to be very careful, otherwise desyncs will kill you. Also you should have a good pc to avoid laags and freezes, otherwise your character will keep dying. |
