Nemesis One Week Race

Stop whining about the reward.
Thats the real problem: 12:00 am, Starts in 7 days at 12:00 am, January 1st 2014
Having the race start exacly at 24:00 on new year for eu. i dont even...
As a regular racer this season im disapointed about this.

The start of the race with ppl hitting zones and first levels going as a group of friends when the race starts is normaly alot of fun. Prolly not gonne happen.

Happy new year Europe from ggg i gues ;(

Only thing that's lacking is the abysmal prize structure. Rewarding 40 people out of 10,000 is awful and not motivating at all for 99% of players.

this pretty much, i mean 1 week..
Prizes are AWFUL. Esp for the league, to which I have to sacrififce my New Year vacation. AWFUL. I'll better spend this time inventing new tortures for GGG community manager.

And, BTW, Merry Christmas!

Yeah because in the 365days a year there is always a world global holyday going on a exact time for all timezones. Its not like they could do it a few hours later so no timezone got screwed.

Not surprised by the reward structure. Am surprised by others being surprised though. This is how pretty much every single 1week race has ever gone. They simply don't appear to care about making good 1weeks.

Err, this isn't at all how 1 week races usually reward prizes. They gave points to Top 500, and for level brackets down to 50. They are rewarding 12.5x less players (i.e. 8% of the usual) in this one. That would be why people are complaining.

I'm not even casual, but i certainly have no hope of making Top 40. I like having goals to strive for. With zero goals, a really exciting and interesting race became somewhat unappealing.

iam pretty sure there will be like random rewards tricrone and stuff.

Random rewards like that are detailed in the OP of races. There are none here.

My memory may be completely failing me at the moment, but I'm fairly certain that they have given microtransaction points out for races in the past. Doing something like that rarely isn't going to hurt their income.

I vaguely recall this as well.

Is the timer broken?
Because it says that it starts at 12 pm.
In the Event -> Events section its says 12 am.

The timer matches on both pages for me, 3pm PT. You can do the math from there to figure out which is correct for your timezone.

The world of participation trophies has ruined you guys. You don't deserve a prize just because you signed up. You have to earn it. That's how the real world works.

People play games to get away from the drudgery of the real world. There's no reason games need to mimic real life in every way. Not to mention rewarding 500 out of 10,000 people (that would be five freaking percent dude) isn't "participation trophies" anyway. 1 in 20 people instead of 1 in 250.

The only once benefited by the starting starting time is Australians or people living on that side of the world.

When it's midnight on new years eve in Europe Australia is 12 hours ahead and New York is 6 hours behind. This means Australians have celebrated new years and got some sleep. Europeans are celebrating when the race starts and Americans are about to celebrate it a few hours after it starts.
In game contact @MajorAsshole

Challenge T-Shirt: 4/6 | Full Challenge Totems: 21/27
And the true gamers dont celebrate a shit, just start play 72 hours in a row

Originally I thought this was a bad configuration and certainly depending on perspective it is, but...

The perspective of "every type of race has to be relevant to ME", is perhaps a narrow view.

You don't have to play this race (and those that do wont get some advantage over you).

Sure it may only allow non casuals a small chance at a prize.
So casuals have been left out?... Well not really!
We've all just gone through a rewarding racing season in which many skill levels, and people with varying amounts of free time could earn rewards!

So the idea that you're missing out is wrong - because they've already had the casual well and truly covered!

This I think is a better perspective:
View the time commitment and limited reward structure as a feature - an avenue for the competitive but perhaps not fastest racers who do have the time and skill can use this opportunity to maybe win a DT.

The rest of us, well we can tool around in it (I probably will) and know we're working towards Dom/Nem goals, or perhaps we can just relax and take a breather since the racing season will have only just finished!

p.s. I'm not saying I'm against more rewards in it either - just pointing out it is really not a big problem given we've had a fun and inclusive race season for the past 2 months.

p.p.s. Can someone explain the Demigods Touch - I'm relatively new, is it just a trophy item and not useful otherwise? Players trade them?
