Is there no fast way to sell items?

if trading through the web interface is implemented later on and you can advertise items which you want to sell then this is more or less an auction as the one bidding the best currency wins the item.

Not in any case:

* If you set a (fix) price (or maybe multiple different 'equal' prices, would change nothing for the mechanic) for your offer, then its not an auction - first one to pay this will get (not 'win') it

* If you set a minimum price, iít would be kind of an auction, but hard to unattend: who defines whats worth more? In this case, the only 'half unattended' option would be to let others make bids and then you pick the best offer later - also no 'real' auction

All other possibilities I can imagine deman direct interation between players to make the deal.

Just make it an extremely simple interface. I want to sell A, for X, or Y, or Z. Fullstop.

E.g. I want to sell a Divine Orb, for 9 Regrets, or 9 Chaos, or 18 Alchs. Whoever wants that just stump up the orbs for an automated exchange. You wouldn't even see how long something has been listed... if anyone thinks the deal is fair, make the trade. No such thing as cycling for 1d 11h deals.

It also serves as an information exchange of sorts, where you can see the latest real world rates rather than --link removed--.

No real money, no gold, no auctions. Just a convenience trip with the benefit of seeing everybody's goods. Everyone gets a deal.

I'm sure if this was mentioned before D3 launch, it will be met with fanfare. There's no downside to it, just convenience for all. Unfortunately, D3 left a bad taste behind with the AH experiment, because of real money/botting factors, and those auction sniping (bots or otherwise).
