You've only been around a week, so it's not surprising that what's going on here is a bit perplexing. I'll explain my reasons for being a supporter; others can speak for themselves.

I found this game, was given a key by a friend, and thoroughly enjoyed my game play. That wouldn't have been enough to get my $$$, though - what convinced me to support GGG was the company's incredible level of interaction with the community, and willingness to listen to what we wanted. Good night, I've lost track of the number of times I've seen the devs (last night it was the Lead Dev) in Global chat. Do you have any idea how utterly rare that is in the gaming world?

It's not about cost / value justification - though that is still a strong factor given the amount of fun I've had for my fifty bucks; it's about supporting a company that is doing everything right. If GGG's business model is successful, soon other companies will try to replicate it - and actually listen to what their players think about the game. I've been gaming a long time, and I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like Grinding Gear Games; it's important to me that they be successful, as they have earned my business and my support. Get yourself a kiwi; 25 bucks probably qualifies as "moderate". I think that if you are indeed a supporter of indie developers, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better one to support than GGG.

- Now, back to trying to dig up enough cash for that silver kiwi. Take care and have fun here.

Thanks for the nice and civilized reply. It has convinced me to spend 10$ to check on the game even with open beta around the corner. If the game is good enough, I might shell out some more $ for the kiwi.

So true, nothing much to add here! GGG deserves to be supported.

I would really like it if there was a list released before open beta of what stuff is going to be in the cash shop so I could see what I think I will want and tune my kiwi purchase accordingly. There is no list yet right?

I might just go bronze/naked kiwi with no list, but glowing silver is tempting. I started just a bit before OB date was announced and haven't been playing due to the coming wipe and RL stuff I should be doing. I guess this is sort of making me feel kind of funky about throwing down $100 on this game yet even though some features I really like.

This is what they've said will be available so far, hoping for lots more cool stuff though!

Spoiler

What can I Spend Points on?
As a test of our microtransaction system, we’re initially offering two small purchases:

Extra Stash Tab (30 Points): Your quota of stash tabs is increased in all leagues. The number of stash tabs is not reset when we enter Open Beta.
Extra Character Slot (30 Points)

At Open Beta, we will have a range of different microtransactions for sale, including many of the following:

Public stash tabs (viewable to other players for trade purposes)
Cosmetic pets
Alternate skill effects
Special animations (for example, taunts or PvP victory animations)
Special paid leagues (with custom game rules)
Guild storage
Alternate item skins and visual effects
Special cosmetic item properties such as “extra gore”
Item dyes

Yeah, I read that before. If you saw the recent video about supporter packs, they mentioned the diamond perks, custom forum avatar and adding a unique to the game will be available but will total to more than $1,000. Pretty crazy IMO.

Knowing what will be available isn't much good without a price list and some info on how they will work though.
From what I've heard, it has turned out to be rather costly (time wise) to coordinate with a community member about creating uniques, much more so than they initially thought. I wouldn't be surprised if they alone had a $1000 price tag on them; and imo they should! That sort of interaction should be reserved for the most exclusive of the exclusive perks, you don't want just everybody to be making uniques.. Eventually they won't be so unique any more ;)

Oh, and you know I'm buying as much extra gore as they give us ;)
Devolving Wilds
Land
“T, Sacrifice Devolving Wilds: Search your library for a basic land card and reveal it. Then shuffle your library.”
The unique being expensive and some decent cost for the artist's work is sensible, just wanted to add it to the list of what we know will be sold.

I remembered one more thing, the color coding and naming of tabs. I think they said this can be an upgrade for tabs already bought.

I spent from my $10 on 3 tabs and $3 is actually a bit pricy for that IMO. I can see wanting at least 3 more. I hope GGG will respond but I am just going to think out loud here and guesstimate.

I can probably get by without the color coding/naming, but if that is $2 each, there is up to $20.

Maybe I will go with 3 public tabs for trading, $3-5 each is $9-15. I'm certainly going to be at Bronze or close with that stuff.

Dyes, gore and some special effects are going to be tempting. Maybe I will just get silver and not worry about it, but I like knowing what is going on.

Do we know if these special leagues are permanent or we are like paying $10 for something which only lasts a few weeks/months?
Woke up... Read this... Was like... Three new races...? They will announce panda bears!

there isn't much info about these new leagues yet, but i wouldn't mind paying for custom leagues (as announced) as ggg needs some kind of constant revenue stream beside selling cosmetic staff and there are costs for running and maintaining the servers too.

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
Just upgrated Bronze, that's the most I can go.
I'm really happy to help the development of this great game!
Luck protects the daring ones.
I LOVE KIWIS
