What i'm interested in, before i fully comit to this build: Is it hard to level with it? like painfully slow, if it's at least mediocre i don't mind, but last time i tried a reaver i remember that it was pretty slow compared to other builds i played, i know i eventually gave up cause it was pretty slow

If you have a little currency then buy a Multistrike. 4L Reave/Multistrike/Melee Phys/Faster Attacks. With a Mightflay uniq dagger and Crest of Perandus uniq shield you'll level pretty fast and easy. Reave is very clunky and bad without Multistrike.

how well did u do?

I tried with very good gear and got raped by the 3 guardians (well I killed two but I had a the wrong approach, with the place of kills) so the 3rd killed me 6 times without breaking a sweat.

Respeced a bit, loosing Adder touch circle, and going to dualist area to grab the 10% block nodes, also picked up IR and lost acro cluster. Overall loosing some 1/3 of DPS.

Not sure how well it will be.

I haven't tried it but when GGG_Neon was testing Atziri he used Reave apparently. Not sure on his tree but out of all melee builds I'd say this is one of the best ones to take her down. You have good defense with block/hp, good mobility with whirling blades, good damage, and you can even attack at range with Reave.

Let me know if you take her down.

what do you guys think of bringer of rain for this build? the extra block is nice and is good gear until you get a 6-link chest and good helm.

It's been talked about a lot in the topic, many people use BoR with this build. I prefer a solid 6L because it;s more flexible with swapping gems. At 90+ when you have 20/20 gems a 6L is a lot more powerful. But a BoR allows you to drop some block nodes.

Up to you which you pick.

How well does cyclone work with the crit dagger/shield framework?

Skills like Cyclone work well, you have good mobility with it and can farm fast. Lightning Strike is also another option, the build is quite flexible.

Hey guys, I was wondering if it's possible to roll this build with the new shadow?
Any opinions/tree?
Cheers

Yeah it works as Shadow, just join the tree up to the Ranger one. You just trade the ev/hp from Ranger for the phys damage from Shadow.

So overall is it worth going shadow over ranger?
I'm intending to play with this on ambush with 100+mf piety farmer or something.
Could you also post a tree you think would be best for shadow?

The trees are basically the same, I'd prefer Ranger because you have enough damage and the little amount of defense helps.

Ranger start (6points):
8% attack speed
16% life
12 life
42% evasion

Shadow start (5 points):
36% one handed damage
3% movement speed
6% attack speed

It's pretty clear that Ranger start is better, but both can work, lots of people have played this as shadow with great success.

i appreciate so much that you're engaged in discussion about the build, so many guides out there are written and then after few days their writers are never to be seen, you're here answering all the questions all the time, thanks for the dedication, i can see you like this build a lot

it reaffirms my choice to try this build

For anyone just checking this out, I have to say this.
I posted a couple times in here awhile ago, got to 93 as duelist using pretty much your spec and I recommend it to anyone looking for something really strong. I started with nothing, in the 1 week nemesis/dom race and it was a blast. I worked my way through a BoR and eventually ended up with this.

35k dps, 6k life. It's not quite your damage but I did just about every bit of content that existed in nemesis and really didn't have much trouble.

Invasion has been kicking my ass trying little pansy ranged specs, must be time to sack up. I'm going to give this a shot but evasion based this time.

Wish me luck ;)

Did it on std 2 h ago. Got this:

not the best drop, but at least its not the flask.

Here's a few tips.

Dual vaal is fairly easy. I did him with 84% lighning res (purity of l and the spell block shield) and 5k hp. His dmg is quite low at this setting, you only have to watch out for the smash.

The three atziri guardians were unbeatable for me while I was evasion/acro spec, with IR they are doable quite easy. The main problem here is the order of kills, since when u kill one the two left grow stronger, and when u kill one of them the last one becomes really hard. A must is to kill the first two in corners of the room so you have space to maneuver. I think for IR spaced chars its best to leave the RoA guardian last, for eva chars this is not the case because the RoA (especially the permanent one) hits quite hard.

Atziri is fairly easy with this build, you do not need a mirred wep or stuff like that. At 50k pDPS u take her HP very fast (I did not run hatred coz I did not have enough mana after purity of fire and lighning). I died twice here, both times in the 4 mirror phase. It is crucial to attack the appropriate clone, I suggest to go for the spear or the flameblast ones. Do not go for the one holding a mirror, you will 1 hit KO yourself :). Good luck.

What kind of comparison is that?

If you give Ranger 6 points (which is the first big node), then give them to Shadow too (because this is also the first big node!).

Ranger:
20 dex
20%accuracy
8% attackspeed
42% evasion
16%, 12 life

Shadow:
20 Dex
21% attackspeed
36% damage
3% movement speed

Especially in early game, this is twice as good. You're squishy with or without %life, but such a big damage and attackspeed increase really helps ealy progress.
If I were to sit on 6 skillpoints forever, I'd take shadow any day.

And if we take 9 points instead of 6, Shadow gets his life: +20, +24% in 3 nodes.
Ranger gets "Aspect of the Panther", I guess, for damage and attackspeed.
Makes them kinda 100% equal at that point (more life vs %evasion on shitty lowlevel gear).

Glad you enjoy it. Good luck on Invasion, some guy has gotten to 78 with this spec over there.

Thanks, I try to reply to everyone, the game is very complex so I like to educate people when I can.

Those boots are actually the best drop from normal Atziri, the other three uniques are gated behind the uber version.
and the boots work really well with the evasion based version of this build.

My comparison was the start nodes that you take, both classes lead into the same tree but have different 5-6 start nodes. Shadow gets the attack damage, and ranger get the hp/ev.
It's a fair comparison. If you start as Ranger you're probably not going to branch all the way to the start of Shadow, so I was comparing what you trade off depending on which class you pick.

He asked what the difference is between the two classes, and considering you connect to the same tree, the stats I listed are the only differences between which class you pick.
