These types of games are purely fun, why get the numbers involved? Count your hits if you have to.

Better make some spread sheets and a big list of my own drop rates and make this fun game into work. Maybe that is 'fun' for some people.
While we're at it, will we cut out all the numbers that show how powerful your gear, passives and skills are, and the stats screen that shows your damage and defences? Wouldn't want any numbers getting in the way of our fun.

they already tried it so should't be a probelm to just put it into the game for all to try
I'd like it if they were added, but obviously looks like they won't.

You folks that don't want them, if it's an option, why does it bother you so much if other people have an option they enjoy playing with? Doesn't affect your game at all.

As for not having the option of turning them on 'because streamers would use it'... really now :P

If you really think about it floating combat numbers don't really add to the game. It's just a rewarding visual, the more powerful your character the bigger the numbers. Throw in a cool splash animation for critical hit numbers to improve the feeling.

But, being objective, game doesn't need it. You already see improvement in the character sheet, and honestly when your damage improves (when you get a better weapon, for example) you can feel the DPS improvement. Mobs take less hits before they die, those spiders that were left with a fraction of HP and needed a second cleave now just die in one shot...

I can understand why some people do want it, but I also understand why GGG doesn't want floating numbers on the screen. It's like saving statistics like "your biggest hit" and crap like that. It's cheesy and just looks to amaze easily amazed people. E-peen stuff, mainly. If you check it, D2 didn't had it. It was D3 (aka WoW sequel) who add it to please all the WoW players, so they feel "at home".

Even in a "peculiar" ARPG like Borderlands 2 floating numbers felt unnecessary (imho).

so tell me how much damage skeletons do and what is the dmg formula for Animated Weapon if it is already available..
doesn't have to be floating.............
With a game that so many folks complain about desync why would you want to add floating numbers to? So more folks can piss an moan about their attacks not causing dmg because there is no floating numbers appearing.
In a game that so many folks complain about FPS drops/spikes why in the world would you want to add even more clutter/crap onto the screen.

I also hope they never add in a combat log. I can already see the future public group boards.
LFM to farm L2/3 no summoners/LA users must have 22k DPS.

There is already to many MMO features in PoE we don't need anymore of them.

Luke: Sorry we have to leave you here, but it just ain't right to eat your wife's and daughter's brains. Plus you're really disgusting and I don't want to spend anymore time with you.

How is that a reason ffs are you for real bro ?
noob developers
How a good ARPG must look like
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?
some of us would like logs. or floating damage numbers. or a text file that was generated to browse through. basically anything to tinker with. If you think it's a 'wow player' feature, then, ok. fair enough. wow did have combat logs. so did 6 million other games :P

that has nothing to do with desync or anything else.

this also wouldn't affect you at all if you could turn it off, so why so much whining about it? It's a pretty simple request from people that would like a new feature, no need to be some defensive. POE won't turn into a bad warcraft clone just because it shares a few useful features.

Should i scream 'wow clone' because there are swords in the game? or spells? or equipment?

Was thinking about this just now and it's just masturbation.

Would people use it if the every mobs hp was 1, and the numbers you saw flying about when you hit the mob were 0.01, 0.025(critical), 0.005(0.005 resisted)
I'm guessing the vast majority would turn it off asap.
The only people who would use it in this case would be the more analytical sort and they already know what they are hitting for.
