What is meant by 'mirror service'?
9 replies and not a single person mentions the word "collateral"?
I've never owned a mirror or a mirror-worthy item, but if we assume that the exalt:mirror ratio is stable and that a reasonable number of people sell mirrors for exalts, you can easily conduct a mirror service with no third parties and no risk of being "scammed" (that is, losing value/having value stolen from you). Here's how collateral works: Assume 40 ex : 1 mirror ratio 2 ex mirror fee Step 1. Mirror-holder puts up 1 mirror. Item-holder puts up 40 ex. Step 2. Item is mirrored by the item-holder. Step 3. Item-holder puts up mirrored item. Former-mirror-holder puts up 42 ex. Step 4. Everyone is happy. At no point after any step would any party benefit from being dishonest/running away/whatever. After step 1, if item-holder runs away, mirror-holder can just buy another mirror for 40 ex. if mirror-holder runs away, the item-holder has a fresh mirror he can sell to someone else, for 40 ex. After step 2, if item-holder runs away, he's just lost 1 mirror AND 40 ex, making him pretty dumb (and mirror-holder can still just buy another mirror) After step 3: everyone is happy Need game info? I would only use the service where the person providing the "Mirror Service" is willing to invest a mirror so it all happens in 1 trade. They would then trade you a mirrored version of the item you want in exchange for a mirror and the agreed upon fee. It requires the service provider to invest in his own service but eliminates the possibility of a scam involving a huge amount of currency.

^^^ If I'm ever in the situation to start a mirror service, that's exactly how I'd conduct my business.
Of course, I'm just as likely to hit the Powerball jackpot as I am of ever getting a perfect roll coveted unique AND a mirror of kalandra. Last edited by brgillespie#1948 on Nov 17, 2013, 12:46:44 AM

You can't mirror uniques.

" Assuming it's a legit service, few wealthy individuals have very powerful, rare items that you cant even dream of ever obtaining. They wont sell them, but to increase their profits they offer "mirror service". You pay them a fortune + mirror (which costs another fortune) = they copy an item for you. I have no idea why mirror exists at all. 177 Last edited by toyotatundra#0800 on Nov 17, 2013, 7:24:19 AM

" Because 1 mirror is cheaper than crafting nb1 ingame items. People can easily spend hundreds of exalts, etc. |

" Sadly, that merely highlights how broken crafting is in PoE. 177 Last edited by toyotatundra#0800 on Nov 18, 2013, 12:21:49 AM

" How is that broken? Would it please you to have everyone running around with a 6L, 100 HP, 40% on each Resistance, 120% Defense/ES chest, 500 DPS, 6L 2h, etc...? Boy that sounds like fun! PROGRESSION! As someone who has next to no wealth to his name I would hate for that to happen. I'd have nothing to strive for. IGN: Caessa_Undying - 4 FPS Immersive Rain 4 Lyfe!

" So you give your mirror to a guy, he decides to keep it and thats bannable? I thought warclast was a hostil enviroment. |

@Caessa:
Gambling system doesnt deserve to be called crafting. No way to influence the results, just waste thousands of orbs and you may end up with something good (or not). As it is now, there's a handful of people that have the wealth to run the slot machine. For everyone else, crafting may as well not exist in this game, other than throwing a few chromatics and fusings at your gear. 177 Last edited by toyotatundra#0800 on Nov 18, 2013, 1:00:19 AM
