Multicore support?
So i did a test yesterday together with a fellow player about the graphics rendering in the game..
im running a i7 CPU with Nvidia 570 gpu wich should be more than sufficient for the game... What we did was put out 2 totems that spammed Arctic breath on a pack of enemies... I those 30 seconds or so that the totems were active, i averaged at 12-15 fps and only one core was on load... So, my question is, does this game have multicore support or am i missing something? I guess its not (very) optimized yet to make efficient use of more than one core. My actual 'solution': try to free up one core for an exclusive use for the client.

Yeah, same here, that's why i started testing this...
Going in to OB with issues like these seems bad. IGN: Gahrlaag

Can we possibly have a dev or anyone comment on this?

I run a 470, and the only skill that I've been able to make my FPS drop at is with spamming Poison Arrow. The particle effects eat up a good bit of my resources, and so they should. That being said I keep VSync on and stay within 50-60 FPS for nearly all of the content.

Yeah, tried vsync too, does not help that much and most important, does not change the multi-core support..

I'v managed to make the game laggy with recording only, and even with that GPU&CPU load wasn't at 100%.
Otherwise I think the game is well optimized, I have AMD Phenom II X6 960T and MSI R7850. For some reason, I have minor lag in some other games, such as TF2 while PoE is almost always stutter-free (when I'm not recording). | |
I can't comment on this game, but I know most games use a single cpu core because multicore support is really difficult with games due to their real-time nature, or something. The source engine took a long time to support it and they have many more developers than we do.
Because of this I generally go for higher per-core clock speed than multi-core when selecting a CPU. Level Designer/Dungeoneer
