Good and sensible decision. While it might be disappointing for some to have to wait this long(not for me- I'm happy PoE won't distract me from my exams revision), I prefer to be disappointed by the date than the quality of the game.

Always thought December was a no go due to how little they had to test Act 3 and the other stuff they intended to work on. Much prefer a later release with more polish.

Hi chris thanks for the update, heard about POE yesterday and today theres a release date wicked! im from christchurch NZ, great to see some fellow kiwis creating what seems to be an epic game, like most of the folk on here i was a diablo 1 & 2 player for decade and vetured heavily into modding diablo 2. cant wait to try what you guys have conjured up... if the opportunity happens to arise.

what will be the difference between soft release(OB) and the "real release"?

every studio bound to have a publisher will envy you for your freedom to make the right decisions like this one.
@chris: as i can understand your not going to open beta test act 3 with developers in vacation i don't understand why you're not giving act 3 to closed beta members over christmas or in january. only reason i can think of is keeping the surprise for the big bang. but closed beta testers could find errors alpha testers have missed... come on, are we poor closed beta testers really just exist for balance and load tests? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

It's great to see a dev team that cares about their game. Although I won't deny that I'm disheartened that the OB is coming out later then expected, the feeling is overshadowed by my happiness for the developers. =3 I anxiously await for the OB to show ups o that I may join you all in-game! ^_^

It makes perfect sense - and xmas releases tend to turn into clusterfucks. That said... now that you have more time, can't you squeeze act3 for a few weeks on CB? QQ :P
